I think the Astra. More room in the back. Although, if I was buying a car in that class, I'd love a Golf Mk 7 or 7.5. You make a good point that Opel are in good hands being part of Stellantis and hopefully we see some very stylish new Opels in the next few years.
Way back in the day, probably early 70's, my father had an Opel Kadett. Super small and about as aerodynamic as a block! LOL. That's when there were long lines to get gas during the shortage. What a difference in styling compared to the Astra. Great review Anna. Check out the old Kadett and it will really make you appreciate the Astra.
@@AnnaOnRoads same perspective in America btw. Believe however there will be a sea change with the next election if the world or America is ready for Trump again. 😉 As an automotive engineer of course EV is like a bad joke only the ignorant public embraces. As to this car, it suits its purpose with very high and taxed petroleum prices in Europe. Diesels in America, excepting a few German outliers a few decades back, are virtually non-existent, in no small part due to cheaper fuel prices. In America, Diesel fuel costs more than standard gasoline per gal/liter. At least Opel, unlike Honda and Toyota got it right on the transmission side. No &^#@ CVT. Cheers Anna.
'Never' is a bold word. They said that man would 'never' fly. They said that man would 'never' set foot on the moon. Battery-powered cars are certainly rubbish at the moment, but can you be certain that they won't be in the future?
Not the most exciting car, but practical. Location so much better than under the fly-over! Throw in a cute cat, and a funny ending, and all in all a very enjoyable half hour with coffee on a wet English Sunday morning.
Another Boring car not available in the USA, but as usual u remain charming and well Spoken,,, Still waiting for ur Review of the G 87 M2!,, Make sure ur Outfit matches the Brilliance of his BMW!!!
Another superlative Anna on Roads video, production and presentation. Europe gets better vehicle choices than we in the US. And even the same models are better built than their US counterparts. Love the instruments and dash on the Astra. I like the Astra. Nothing quite like it in the States. Great vehicle for urban and suburban environments. I had a 1971 Opel GT, bought from a friend's father. Sold it to a friend in 2007 and he still has it. Well-built. However, when the Datsun 240Z appeared in 1970, the Opel GT looked less compelling.
Astra or Peugeot 308? I can't answer this as I have not driven either yet. A great quick review of a regular car Anna where practicality, price and driving experience have to balance out. Looks wise the new Astra is good both inside and out. Physical climate and air con buttons tick the box for me. The Astra does what it says on the tin although if I recall the EV version is very expensive tin. Many thanks for sharing a very well presented, edited and produced video.
Watched it on my tv (normally iPhone) with headphones,as it is 5am and don’t want to wake neighbour. You feel so much closer to the action, colour and sound 👌.good A-B car.the old gte was a very popular boy racer.take care💋
Hi Anna! Good video. I didn't know that Opel still existed as a brand, as Opel disappeared from my city when SAAB disappeared. Because those who were dealers for SAAB were also dealers for Opel, but because Opel sold poorly, they chose to close down the company when SAAB disappeared. So now when I saw your video, I had to Google and see if Opel is in Sweden and it is but in Luleå, it's 350 km one way from my city.
I love when Anna brings us cars we don’t get here in the states and you get a dermatology lesson on top of everything else. I can’t wait for Anna to get her hands on the cyber truck from Tesla. I just think it’s the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, but it is a Tesla.
Having watched the decline of Opel here in Germany since the 1990s (General Motors and especially the manager José Ignacio López de Arriortúa) , I can only hope for a better future under Stellantis.
this car's 209 km/h maximum speed is the minimum speed limit that you should drive here in Germany 😄 I'll pass it not smash it!! by the way, a great review video from you Anna! Thank you!
I agree that it looks good, but, with the previous cars, I think it was only the interiors that were grim. I think the Astra H (2004-09) looked great from the outside but cheap on the inside. The first BMW 1 series, looked like an Astra H that had been hit with an ugly stick. I think the Astra J (09-15) looked great from the outside too. The first non-van Mercedes A-Class looked like an Astra J that had been hit with an ugly stick. I think the Astra K (immediate predecessor of the one under test above), looked even better but the interior was the dullest of the lot. The reason people think Astras are dull is the market they are sold into -- corporate and hire car fleets. Remember when Jeremy Clarkson saw a sketch of the Astra H before it was unveiled and said "If it looks like that, I'll eat my own hair"? He ate his own hair on telly. As each Astra has come out, everyone has said "It looks great, not like the last one" and then they've seen them in water company car parks and car rental returns and said "Boring". I suspect the same will happen to this one.
The eclectic irony; those who need an electric 🚙 the most are the same people most inconvenienced by the⚡️ charging network, if you don’t have at home charging it really is too much hassle.
Trust me, you don't really wanna be Queen of England.👑👸🏰 💂♀💂♂💂 Too many headaches. "Heavy is the head that wears the crown" and all that sort of thing. Much better off remaining Queen of RUclips. 😆
You can’t really compare the previous generations of Astra with this new one, because as you say, it’s a completely different company now. Not a bad looking motor and interior looks alright, except for that dash.
Hi Chris, I understand you can have a preference, that's natural. Some would say Ford is shit. Opel sold 670k cars last year, they must be doing something right, don't you think? Don't let your personal experience form these statements. Shit happens. And it does with every single car manufacturer.
@@AnnaOnRoadsof course they sell, they sell to idiots like me, because they have great marketing. I have a Crossland X 2019. The timing belt had to be changed at 55,000 km. My mechanic told me that he's not gonna do it and that I should go to the official repair shop, as the tkiming belt is inside the oil bath and most mechanics avoid channging it. He told me to drive home extremely slow and not drive it until it's changed, because it's already in terrible condition. Official service rep tells me that they changed timing belts at 15,000 km. I used to add one liter of oil every 5-6 months, which is a lot. Now, since I changed the timing belt I add one oil liter every month. Start Stop feature stopped working aince then. Nothing wrong witth the car apaprantely. I checked the open forums, lots of people with my problems. In conclusion, for me Open is shit. You don't hear anything bad about Toyota or Honda. I have a Toyota too btw, a Landcruiser. Had a Corolla which I sold, I truly regret it. All mechanics here speak poorly about the new Opel cars, and they praise Toyota, Honda, etc (the real cars) And I wiitnessed it with my own eyes.
Holly s**t ... 10 sec to 100?!?!?! That's early 80's numbers! What'd they put in it, oars?!?!?!... Thanks, but no thanks, you keep your dinghy Opel!!!🤦🤦🤦
Astra or Peugeot 308?! Which one would YOU take?!
Astra, just.
The Astra I have liked the Astra for a long time this new one looks nice
I like the clean and edgy styling of this Astra.

I totally agree with you. Electric will never replace the practicality and reliability of petrol.
No chance, they are dreaming! But then again, our mighty political leaders often do!
They will get the message if the public refuse to buy the EV scam.@@AnnaOnRoads

That is a first, a gorgeous shade of yellow .🔥
Back before SUvs were the thing, sensible hatchbacks were (and still are) what 90% drivers actually need.

Haha, hi Gus, you are forever a delight! Thank you. Oh that ugly thing, I think it's "cool" but probably for all the wrong reasons ;-)
I think the Peugeot 308 gets the star prize ,but the Vauxhall/Opal Astra will do well nice colour and upgrades much better than the previous models 😊
The 422 boot space I presume includes the under floor area.
Tiger Anna. Clarkson can't pull that off.
i loved it.
I loved seeing you driving in Birks, but I confess that I miss your driving loafers. I love your videos and wish you much success.
hi anna will you able to make a video about new BMW m340d with carbon roof please
Oh, that's a difficult one, they don't have this particular model in the press fleet :-(

Opel is a shit car. It's not even a real car. Go with Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Ford, VW. Opel is pure crap.
