I was brought up on Country and Western Music. There was a song I clearly remember from my Childhood. Black Diamond from Hank Snow. Hank Snow was not one of the singers that my dad listen to much. So I never knew who sung Black Diamond. That was over 45 years ago. I been looking for it for decades now. Now I dying of Emphysema and Cancer. Today I finally stumbled upon it. Thank you beargrease51.
Hank Snow was my boyhood hero in Country and Western Music. Thanks for this Great song by Hank. Its always been a special favorite of mine.Ive spent countless hours listening to Hank Snow
Brings back memories of 1962,when I first saw Hank Snow in person. What a thrill it was for me.I was with my sweet mother that day whos now gone on to be with th Lord. This is one of Hanks best songs ever.I for one think its Great, just like Hank was.RIP Hank Snow and Momma
I remember my grandma playing this song on a crank - up record player as we had no power on the farm. She had several of Hanks albums . Everyone would quietly sit round and listen intently...that was family love back then, something lost years ago!!
Wow... this is ONE of my Fav songs ever, and my FAV one by Hank, My mom loved him and I used to listen to this over and over again when I was a kid, I am now 44 WOW... brings back wonderful memories of my mother and me playing music while we cleaned house or what not... thank you RUclips... I have NOT heard this in YEARS... aw... tears...
The frist time i heard hank was in 1952 while in the USAF. and enjoyed his musice ever since have most of his music must get this one REST IN PEACE HANK GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
One of my favourite Hank Snow "Talking songs" not many singers could manage the style of these songs but Hanks' voice is perfect for doing narrations. (His Tales of the Yukon collection is superb.) Many thanks for this one Takes me back to the 60's when I first started listening to and collecting Hanks music
Talk about a song that would bring a tear to a glass eye, (especially if you're a combat veteran)this one has to be right up there with Old Shep and Red Foley's "Steal Away". Hank's song "The Runt" is another great narration. We'll never see the likes of this talented man again. RIP Singin' Ranger.
Dear Ginny, thank you i am doing great thank you, hope you are well also, take care and stay safe during this outbreak, and God Bless all our service personal
It has taken me nearly 30 yrs to find this song it holds a special memory of me and my mum I'm glad to have finally found it so thankyou for uploading it does anyone know what album it was on ?
Kenrew, I agree with you cashpresley. As far as the great Johnny Cash is concerned, I would rate only Hank Snow and Tex Ritter on the same level. Johnny Cash's "Mean As Hell" on the "Ballads of the True West" album is absolute magic.
Hi oldmusiclover, unfortunately I don't have any way of copying it. It's an old albumn called "Country Giants" (1971) CDS 1098. It has various artists on including Jim Reeves, Chet Atkins, Eddy Arnold and Skeeter Davis. You may still be able to pick that one up, HTH's? If I find a way to copy it I'll let you know.

I just saw Hank Snow perform this great monologue on the Porter Waggoner Show on Rural TV. No one can deliver this sort of song like Hank Snow.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear the voice of Anita Carter on this song. Her distinct sound is so recognisable...
