@iannecarlo02 nope, no manual, well there is but its on a disc, you need to put it into pc computer its a pdf file thing, no good when your out and about with the camera
How many continuous minutes of 720 video can you record on the 500D, (UK). I have heard that it is the same as 1080, which is pointless at 20 fps. Am I right in thinking it is about 12 mins ?
what do you think is better I want to buy a camera do you think Canon 550D is better than Canon 500D ? and is the 18-55 lense is good ? or I have to buy a new one ? please I need someone to help me
PLEASE HELP, i bought this camera other day i recieved it by courier but there is no english Manual, just 4 foreign one's. i did get the manual on pdf file on a disc, but thats no good when your out away from pc with camera. has anyone else had this problem, the contents nside show there SHOULD been an english manual included, but i got it on a disc i need to be sitting at a PC to view, no good to me when im not at home, what can i do, or is there just no english booklet manual exists?
@JamaicanBMW87 It's not that bad, really. It's a LITTLE worse than a D5000 but not enough to make it a deal breaker. Fact is, once it had enough noise to require editing, the other one does too. In my opinion, it's an even match. Noise cleans up very will with Adobe Lightroom.
the let down here is that they didnt film this or edit it into a HD format. So showing us the HD clip recorded on the 500D was pointless.. But I do own this camera as well as 5DMarkII and it's HD capability is outstanding.
Feature packed camera. I recommend this to anyone. Light as fuck to. If only it had the capabilities of the 40D, I would get this! Lugging a 40D with a flash gun and a 24-70mm (or the Brick) is not FUN.
There's no difference between 500D, 550D and 600D cuz the utilize the same matrix. More megapixels doesn't always mean the better quality. All other things are marketing to promote sales.
@oolala12340 So what? Thats not the point on youtube... The point is that people can upload videos of their own to youtube, they don't have to be perfect... if they had to be youtube wouldn't have been that of a big community!
This is NOT exactly an entry level. The 1000D is the entry level camera, the 500D is the highest up within the series. It is a CONSUMER camera, not an "entry level".
totally dont agree with this being a entry level camera, not with the spec it has, 3in screen at 93000k pixels, dust removal system and full hd recording even at 20fps still not too bad, nikon d90 better maybe, but not by much

@DjBazUltra I believe 720p is 1 hr - 4 gb, so you could easily get a few hours with 16gb, even in 1080p
@gacayana 720p is normal HD which is 1280 pixels horizontally and 720 Vertically. I think 1080p is double that of 720p.
@PatMgroin15 it records 30fps@720p, 20fps@1080p. you can get one with kit lenses

Still have this camera, the 600D is pretty damn tempting though. Shame I lack of the required funds again for another DSLR purchase, lol.

@mearepeace i recommend to you the Canon 550D it is much better then both of these cameras but not that much more expensive
@noonijo1997 550 is better in video. it records up to 60 fps. more manual settings too. like iso adjustments. 500d doesnt have it. 550 got 18 mp.
Can't compare this to the D90 really D90 can be compared to the 50D though, this maybe the D3000 or D5000 well in my opinion...

the video of the flowers could not have been 720p/1080p the quality looked really bad.

The D90 is better at taken photos but poor at Video ! The Canon 500D HD is lots better.
I own the D90 and the Video mode is very very poor !
