Thank you so much you saved my laptop. I had given my laptop to service, but he said that it was dead, after returning home I have searched how to repair black screen and I saw this video. After removing my ram my laptop has turned on. It was mind blowing 🤯. Mine was Dell.
Should always start with removing/disconnecting the battery, as well as the power cord, and then holding the power button down for around 20 seconds to discharge the capacitors. Then put the battery and power cord back in and see if its fixed. This has worked for me on hundreds of laptops. I call this issue "stuck in sleep mode". Should always try this first
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This worked for me! Now my laptop is fine. I was totally ready to go out and buy a new laptop. I have an older HP laptop that only displays a black screen when turned on. I'm gonna try this on that laptop too!

@@PC_Monkey No. Something happens when I turn on. When the laptop is off the screen looks green, and if I use light I can see the reflexion. But when the laptop is on, it turns deep dark and the light can't be reflected anymore until the laptop is off.
This is helpful and thorough. Thanks. I have a similar problem with my Asus laptop. The screen on restart SOMETIMES shows fine multicolored vertical stripes on a bluish background. The computer itself is working, based on the external monitor test. The thing is, the problem is intermittent. And when it happens, if I restart lots of times, the normal screen eventually comes back. Or, if I wait a little while, it restarts normally. I would think that would make the diagnosis that much more difficult. And I have to wait till it happens again to take to a repair shop.
It's always the simple stuff that gets me. I've changed batteries, though it was the screen, all types of stuff except the ram. damn! Thanks, bro. worked like a charm. changed the ram and boom, damn laptop came on. Thanks again
Bear in mind that if your Mother board is the kind with the "Integrated CPU" it still might be repairable. Whether someone in your area can do it is another story. a new board would probably still be cheaper. the CPU on thos is attached VIA Ball Grid Array(BGA) this is a grid of Solder joints on the back of the CPU and it's attached using special equipment to heat the solder joints up so the chip is attached. THIS IS NOT A DIY option, BGA repairs take special equipment to properly reflow the solder joints. there's many videos out there on "baking" your Video cards and laptop boards, DO NOT DO THIS. not only is it hazardous, toxic fumes, but it's innaccurate and 9/10 time won't work or work for a very short time.

Thank you! You are a life saver! One of the rams is defective - my screen turns on when the ram is out but as soon as i put back in, screen does not display. Question- can i use my pc with just 1 ram until i buy a replacement? Please let me know. Thanks
I've seen the RAM issue before and I fixed the screen just by removing it and reseating it. It baffles me though why a memory issue would make the screen fail to turn on. You'd think it would at least get to the BIOS and throw up some sort of memory error. Also in older laptops a dead CMOS battery will just mean that the BIOS clock asks to be configured everytime you boot up, so why in some modern laptops do they make it so that the screen won't even come on?

These videos are great, thanks so much for making them. I followed the steps for troubleshooting and was able to get the laptop working with an external monitor. Originally, the laptop stopped working completely after moving to a new apartment so probably smth happened during the move. I removed the battery, drained the static, plugged in, turned it on and saw the keyboard lights come on and the Dell logo on the screen with a loading spinner. Also saw a tiny text box show up on the top left corner that I think said it’s clearing cache. It came on for a sec before the screen went black. The laptop was still making some noise. After waiting for about 30 min with no luck, tried connecting to an external monitor and it worked. So wondering if it’s still an issue with the LCD or the LCD wire. What do you think?
So the Dell startup logo screen came up, then the screen went black and stayed black, you hooked up an external monitor and were able to use your computer normally that way but the laptop screen was still black?

So, I have a laptop that's practically brand new. The screen comes on for me to sign in, but then flickers and goes black. After a 10 minute wait I press enter and the screen comes on for about 60 seconds then goes black again. Any help and advice would be great. Cheers
I was too tired after watching so many videos in order to fix my laptop but didn't find any solutions but thanks for your tip ,I was able to turn my screen on It really helped me a lot 😊❤
Understandable :) No worries :) Try to find a 'Teardown' or 'Disassembly' video on your exact model computer. It will show you step-by-step how to get in. You can find your model number this way; ruclips.net/video/-t1UcxmT7yA/видео.html
Then unfortunately, you cannot test for the RAM. Move on and perform the other tests. If at the end of the video, none of the possible solutions have worked and your left with either the RAM test that you could not perform or the Motherboard then you should replace the Motherboard as the RAM is part of that anyway and it would need to be replaced anyway if the RAM was indeed bad :)
I just slapped my laptop and the screen started working. Prolly some bug crawled into the laptop. I know its not a sane or scientific solution but it worked. You can try it.

So, I have a laptop that's practically brand new. The screen comes on for me to sign in, but then flickers and goes black. After a 10 minute wait I press enter and the screen comes on for about 60 seconds then goes black again.
Any help and advice would be great.
Cheers

Im so scared to open my laptop lol
Understandable :) No worries :) Try to find a 'Teardown' or 'Disassembly' video on your exact model computer. It will show you step-by-step how to get in. You can find your model number this way; ruclips.net/video/-t1UcxmT7yA/видео.html
@@PC_Monkey just asking my PC is different version of Asus and the screen constantly goes in and out of display.
@@mikeneil74 I dont understand. Your computer starts up fine, but the screen constantly goes on and off?
@@PC_Monkey the laptop works fine but the display is black in some moments the display would work but then go dark again.
@@mikeneil74 Try hooking it up to an external monitor. Does the problem continue there?
My ram is soldered to the motherboard. And I'm stuck at home due to the pandemic.
My adapter type error battery may not charge error but I can't change battery or charger due to lockdown
@@ishfaqalimalik3661 Bummer :( A lot of us are in that position now :( My state just went on lockdown last night
@@PC_Monkey sad but hopefully our life will be on track soon
I just slapped my laptop and the screen started working. Prolly some bug crawled into the laptop. I know its not a sane or scientific solution but it worked. You can try it.

It's 3 am in the morning when I'm watching this video
(Before watching this video)First I tried to clean both ram and put it in but didn't work I cleaned my whole laptop opened it clean the display usb and hard disk but nothing work then I Searched in RUclips when you did that thing checked if one of your ram is bad and one is good I thought I could give it a try and it worked I'm so damn happy despite knowing my one 8gb stick is useless I'm somehow relived that my laptop is okay I wasn't able to sleep till now bcoz I was worried that I had to spend some money for repairing which I don't have right now but everything turn out to be just okay I can still use my laptop only with 2 GB though but that's enough for now

How? Even the bad ram can be switch around?
@@condorX2 No, if the RAM is bad, it wont matter which port its plugged into. In this case, the RAM just needed to be 'reseated' or the port was bad and the RAM was good
@@PC_Monkey 🙉💐
@@PC_Monkey thx for the swift respond.
Since you're here, I could use your expertise opinion.
I just purchase an used ASUS G53 Gaming Laptop for $160.
It come with some defects like a black screen for the price and I'm hoping it's the ram and not the small battery or the lcd cable inside the laptop.
Here are the description. Do you think I got rip off?
I got it for my nephew. Cheers.
Specs
Window 10 installed
No dead pixel on the screen
Spec. In picture
(RAM is upgraded from 12GB to 16GB)
Please READ before buying
1. When you turn off, it must do it with safe mode (shift+restart) it causes black screen if you dont
2. Battery is not Charging
3. there is some problem on speaker that you need to put earphone jack all the time for speaker(as you see in picture)
CMOS battery change fix my screen. I didnt understand why but its worked. Thx
