Okay first off, making Lucius literally Maximus' son is unnecessary and undermines Maximus' plot arc. It worked perfectly fine for Lucius to see Maximus as the only real father figure he'd ever known and that could have carried over into this movie. A blood relation was not needed. It also messes up Maximus' arc: he's a simple wheat farmer at heart who only wants to return to his wife and son. When he sees they have been cruelly murdered, his life is over except to wreak vengeance upon their killer. But if you see the movie now, you know he has a different girflriend and another son. Kinda takes the air out of the tires. There's also a structural problem with the plot. In their various ways, Lucius, Macrinus, Acacius and Lucilla are all on the same side, hating the heedless power of Rome, exemplified by the two crazy emperors. A well structured plot would allow them to have a conflict midstream that resolves this difference and allows them to be allies to fight their true foes. Except Geta and Caracalla are too crazy and weak to serve as strong antagonists. You'd need someone on par with Joaquin Phoenix's Commodus to pull that off. But it's worth watching anyway. Good action scenes, Denzel steals the show. My movie ticket was $10, I got my money's worth.
Gladiator 2 also messes up Maximus' arc that reduces the emotional impact of the grainfield-in-the-afterlife scene. Maximus had a different son who might grow up to be emperor but I guess he preferred his other son who was murdered, huh? And now we have that sticking in our minds every time we want to see Gladiator I. Thanks a lot, Ridley Scott, for your fanfic-level retcon.
The first movie had them be father and son in spirit and that was good. Then Ridley Scott decided to make it literal like in bad fanfic and wrecked everything. Sometimes you should not mess.
Do you know what is the Foregone Conclusion: Lucius Verus/Hanno: Rome will never be the same again. (Sees Elagabalus) Severus Alexander: if so, I can help you.
Well Rome is just not Rome without Julius Ceasars. He is the father of the Great Rome just like any other leader. Genghis Khan, Alexander. However that dude got his hand and stomach slash is very satisfying
NO NO NO NOOO...The end felt like the writers gave up..They didn't even put his ring back on in the end while at the coliseum 🤦🏽♀️.. yes yes we get it, "it's lonely at the top" smh... Good movie but lost me at the end!!!
@@ytante-295625% of the sequel was exactly like the 1st movie. If it wasn’t for Denzel, this movie would have failed miserably. The original was 10/10, the sequel was like 6/10 at best.
What did you think of Gladiator 2?
ನನಗೆ ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಣ್ಣದ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ
Awful. First movie was a grand epic, this was a poorly executed action flick with the depth of a tea spoon.
The main character was terrible.
A money grab with a silly storyline that should never have been made.

I enjoyed it a lot as good as the first one.
[(YAWN)] "Is it over? The first movie sewed up all the ends. No need for a sequel."
Lucius actor was amazing tho
Yesss❤❤
Did the presenter even watch the film? The pronunciation of those character names was terrible....
Muh-crin-us
Ah-KAK-ius
The ending of Gladiator 2 shows that one shot (hand in grainfield), from the first movie is better than the whole movie you just watched.

well i liked Denzel
I didn't actually get that bit about Maximus being Lucius father. Wasn't that meant to be only so in spirit?

I'll be honest I was checking my watch often to see how much was left

Because he gave it to Sexstin, its the same day so like the ring was still not given back to him..
You guys take movie story lines TOO SERIOUS!! I love the first Gladiator, and I enjoyed the second one as well. Overall BOTH great movies!
some movies should be legacy and untouched.

A least the main character didn’t died
@@VaporPC88 I'd feel better if he had, knowing that we'd never see a gladiator movie with him again.
So Denzel was the only Roman with no Roman accent? He could have tried. I think Denzel fumbled this one. IMO
Who had a Roman accent? None of them were speaking Latin like they should have. I want my money back!
After watch gladiator 2, feel disappointed..
1st gladiator is the best.
I started watching it but didn’t watch it all............I wonder why p?
lol Macrinus pronunciation.. maybe study a bit more bro.
"ending explained"... NOT, lol, & the annoying commentary, OMG...
Awful movie
