This is really a song for a holiday, for a Halloween parade held by a Japanese film studio. The lyrics are not very clear even to Japanese people, in short - a vampire girl invites you to go with her and have fun. The public knows the song, it was the #1 song on Billboard Japan 2023
Awesome video! A couple things: She JUST turned 22 recently. This song is not a heavy song. It was a collaboration between her and Universal Studios Japan for their Fright Nights last year. For the next song you should definitely check out Shoka, but do the studio version because it IS a heavy song and it needs the english lyrics to do it justice. Shoka is the first song that was written by Ado herself. She did music and lyrics and she even learned to play guitar for it. It's about her own personal depression and bullying. In the description of the song, it says, "This song is about early summer, which I hate. And about myself, which I hate."
A small correction, she has been playing the guitar since she was 12 years old, and has been composing music for a long time, but only now she started making videos for her songs, she thought that her songs were not as cool as those that were composed for her.

You can't take the comments too seriously on ado videos lmao. most people want you to have done in depth research on her, the song, the lyrics, everything before watching the video and if you don't get everything correct they get upset. I'd say there aren't too many that make reaction videos who can go a bit more in depths on the techniques being used and the actual skill on display so it'd be fun if you watched some more of her. She isn't limited to any genre so whatever type of song you wanted to listen to you could easily find a few that would be up your alley

Ado doesn't have backup singers in her live performances, so everything heard during her set is playback. Also, the light sticks held by audience members are part of Japanese concert culture. Ones branded with the concert name or venue name/date are often sold at merchandise stalls outside of the concert hall. They can range from $15-25 USD and are often highly collectible as a badge of attendance to one of these events. --- Ado is really talented but unfortunately a small group of her fans are gatekeepy and polarizing. yeah i didnt get how people didnt get that your laughs in previous reactions weren't malicious at all lol, thats the internet for you. also yeah, she just turned 22 last month, not 24. 4:25 the funny thing is that your comment about the "someone being eaten by a crocodile" is super accurate to the majority of vocaloid songs (which is the genre that made ado want to start singing) where 8/10 times the song would sound super upbeat be like depression or some other dark/deep topics. If i were to draw a parallel to an English song the first to come to mind would be pumped up kicks by foster the people. She does not have live backup singers, so all background vocals are playback. She even has support of some small parts of the lead on playback simply because this song is so heavily layered it isn't really possible to sing it all out live. You do hear very clearly though that the lead vocal line is indeed live, and its still hell of a lot of notes.. As for autotune, I know she uses it as an artistic element some times, but from what I am able to hear I don't think she uses it as support. These crazy "vocal gymnastics" songs are really fun requesting reactions to, but as you say they are kind of hard to grasp and break down. Maybe chose one of her powerful ballads will help you understand more of her voice (Crime and punishment, Dignity, ++). To answer your question of where she comes from, I will just say she was discovered online at the age of 17, debut single blew up more than any other debut ever did in Japan. Now at the age of 22 she have just started selling out venues for her second world tour next year. If you want to understand more of the artist Ado, you will have to dig into some of her history and the impact of vocaloid music in Japan. I could write essays on the stuff, but I wont. 😅

She does do it for fun but you are forgetting the Japanese work ethic lol. She is probably the biggest solo female artist in Japan for the last 3 years foe a good reason. She's not a well honed knife type singer but a Swiss army knife attached to a m4 as a bayonet type singer.

This song is not a heavy song. It was a collaboration between her and Universal Studios Japan for their Fright Nights last year.
For the next song you should definitely check out Shoka, but do the studio version because it IS a heavy song and it needs the english lyrics to do it justice.
Shoka is the first song that was written by Ado herself. She did music and lyrics and she even learned to play guitar for it. It's about her own personal depression and bullying. In the description of the song, it says, "This song is about early summer, which I hate. And about myself, which I hate."
A small correction, she has been playing the guitar since she was 12 years old, and has been composing music for a long time, but only now she started making videos for her songs, she thought that her songs were not as cool as those that were composed for her.

You can't take the comments too seriously on ado videos lmao. most people want you to have done in depth research on her, the song, the lyrics, everything before watching the video and if you don't get everything correct they get upset. I'd say there aren't too many that make reaction videos who can go a bit more in depths on the techniques being used and the actual skill on display so it'd be fun if you watched some more of her. She isn't limited to any genre so whatever type of song you wanted to listen to you could easily find a few that would be up your alley

4:25 the funny thing is that your comment about the "someone being eaten by a crocodile" is super accurate to the majority of vocaloid songs (which is the genre that made ado want to start singing) where 8/10 times the song would sound super upbeat be like depression or some other dark/deep topics. If i were to draw a parallel to an English song the first to come to mind would be pumped up kicks by foster the people.

She does not have live backup singers, so all background vocals are playback. She even has support of some small parts of the lead on playback simply because this song is so heavily layered it isn't really possible to sing it all out live. You do hear very clearly though that the lead vocal line is indeed live, and its still hell of a lot of notes.. As for autotune, I know she uses it as an artistic element some times, but from what I am able to hear I don't think she uses it as support.
These crazy "vocal gymnastics" songs are really fun requesting reactions to, but as you say they are kind of hard to grasp and break down. Maybe chose one of her powerful ballads will help you understand more of her voice (Crime and punishment, Dignity, ++).
To answer your question of where she comes from, I will just say she was discovered online at the age of 17, debut single blew up more than any other debut ever did in Japan. Now at the age of 22 she have just started selling out venues for her second world tour next year. If you want to understand more of the artist Ado, you will have to dig into some of her history and the impact of vocaloid music in Japan. I could write essays on the stuff, but I wont. 😅
