So low key I wish you were my teacher I feel like I would have a better time learning in a beautiful environment. First of all, I LOVE the classroom. But how does the flexible seating work? Did you need approval from the school? and did you pay out of pocket for the reading nook and the flexible space?
Evelyne Velez I think Mr. Kate designed it for her. They probably got approval from the school first.

you could mount the hoop on a sign, kind of like the wood word art one in your office. Then just hang that on the wall. Now you can easily remove it and minimize damage to the wall itself.
I love your outfits!! You should do a lookbook! I never thought to add pearl earrings to a basic look, but it looks so cute.

How long is a class period at your school? I struggle even with 75-minute classes as a university instructor and I remember 6-12th grade classes being like 45 minutes. How do you even have time for Christmas tree decorating and the like, plus accounting for wrangling them back into focus before you start the day's work? I'd love to know how you incorporate having a personality and building a rapport with your students through activities and banter, while still covering the material for each day. Those things are important to me but also they feel like they're taking away from our precious short time to learn together.

She teaches ninety minute periods. I am in middle school and we have eighty minutes of English.
You can use detangler, a pet brush and a hair dryer to fluff up the faux fur chairs! I have the same ones and do it every time they start to get crazy lookin! 😊
I absolutely love watching your videos before work. I teach second grade in Miami-Dade and there's always such a heavy focus on data...it's nice to be reminded that what matters is what's best for our students.
Also, yes to flexible seating. I use a hybrid because they're little still. They have assigned seats that they go to for transitions and to regroup and I have a cool down corner in when one of them needs to excuse themselves and spend some time alone. But they can sit in cozy corners throughout the room during classwork time
People need teachers like you ! ❤️ I remember having a English teacher that was really passionate about learning and their students and it really positively impacted my high school experience !😊

Love this! Your style and positivity is honestly so inspiring.
You can attach the command strips with the velcro onto the walls to easily take it on and off the mount and hang something else up when it’s not mounted or magnets onto the back of it and then you can put it on your whiteboard! I gave one to one of my cooperating teachers last year when I was in his room and he loved it! Such a great way to play review games or even help with brain breaks! Love your videos and so glad someone else uses basketball hoops too! ❤️
Also I live nearby where your school is and my school has a book club. You just seem so passionate about books that I think your bookworm students could really benefit from your hosting a book club. I know my book club is one of the things I really look forward to!plus each year there is a Miami book fair and the students get to meet authors and walk around looking at the books. I went this year for my book club field trip and I adored it!
So many have already said it and I’ve said it too but I need to say it again for the ppl in the backkkk, I so wish you would’ve been my teacher when I was in high school! I absolutely love your channel. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, but I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out what I want to teach. I’ve thought about preschool, kindergarten, upper elementary, but now I really want to teach high school English.
you should use paper clips to hang the ornaments then they’ll blend in to the tree and you won’t see the string! plus then you don’t have to worry about tying one for each ornament!
For the basketball hoop you can just buy a velcro command strip and mount it to the wall with that so that you can take it down and put it back up whenever you want since it's velcro.

Okay little gold hoops are absolutely the way to go when it comes to staple earrings!! I have some where the posts just slide in to the rest of the earring if that makes sense? So when they’re closed it almost looks like a little ring. I never worry about losing an earring back which is good because I’m a mess 💛💛💛
Command Hooks/strips work great! That way, you can have a designated place for it forbwhen you want it hung, but also take it down and hide when you are gone or want the students to not have the temptation to be distracted.
I really wish my classes were like this. I would love school

Imagine if you were my teacher. Imagine walking into a classroom and feeling so comfortable you wouldn't want to leave. Imagine having a space that you can actually focus on your work. Not painted white brick walls with posters and fluorescent lighting. Imagine being able to focus. I wish you were my teacher throughout highschool, for everything.
Hi Brittany! How do you go about fostering a culture of respect for your space? I'm also a high school English teacher (woo!), and I feel like even though I have a great relationship with my kids, that respect just doesn't translate to keeping our classroom nice. With so much flexible seating, I wonder how you keep everything looking so clean and gum free!?
For your basketball hoop issue...try changing the game up to trash ball! One of my fav teachers in high school played it with us & it was so fun & I used it in my own classroom and the students always looooved it!

I didn't think in the US people studied the odyssey at school
Anyway I'm from Italy and here school is totally different. Teachers are much colder and we study so many useless things... I mean it's all about learning things by heart, memorising stuff over and over and there are sooo many tests, both oral and written. It's just really tough to keep up with everything, the homework, the tests, the essays, plus we have lots of subjects to study.
You can use command hooks to hang the hoop:)
