  • Hi, today is about my specialty, my most feared weapon in my game, my signature shot: The forehand topspin with a lot of rotation. In our circuit, it is considered the most spin-rich topspin in the world. Maybe was, because it's physically very demanding. But what makes my spin so special, or what do I do differently? Watch it!

(Also glad it's in English, it is one think to have a conversation in German but technical stuff is already hard to follow in English) Btw. Since this stroke is so physically demanding, could you give us some pointers on how to train the body for this off-table aswell? I personally run out of strenght after trying about a dozen reps of these when going really deep.

    Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! There is actually very little lesson-type content from top-level TT players on RUclips. So please keep doing it. About this video: I would like you to elaborate a little more on your hand grip for your forehand stroke. Especially of your thumb position. Do you place the thumb on the rubber leaving a space between the thumb and the middle finger or does your thumb meet the middle finger during the stroke?

  • @ananthahegde8476
    @ananthahegde8476 3 года назад

    I used to go for this heavy spin, it's a lot of fun and like you said in the video, the aim was not to hit it very fast, that way the opponent would have to block in the falling phase and the ball would 'pop up' when they did that .
    But this also puts more stress on the elbow and knees than a conventional topspin so I've stopped relying on it as much :/

For some odd reason, all guys in my squad are into TT when I still in the service and we like to watch bootleg TT tournament vcd. it was hawked in the traditional market in Iraq.
    My team mates all hate my shot that curving to their body.
    Thanks for the coaching vid.

  • @pnachtwey
    @pnachtwey 2 года назад

    This makes sense. If you hit the ball at its highest point the ball will bounce up about 80% of the height from which you hit it unless you hit it down into the table. In this case it will bounce up even higher. The ball should be at its highest when it crosses the net. To do this you must loop the ball from below net height so it just goes over the net. Then it won't bounce up over net height. In fact the ball should bounce out low due to the Magnus effect and fast from the spin pushing off the table.

    Unterschätzter Schlag, viele wollen direkt- oder aus schlechten Positionen feste spielen, aber der heavy spin Topspin ist auch mit dem Plastikball noch eine gefährliche Waffe und auch in der fallenden Phase noch sicher spielbar.
