WHAS used to be a CBS station. In 1990, WLKY and WHAS switched networks. I really liked Walter!

Walter Cronkite didn't leave...he was pushed out by Dan Rather. Rather was an egomaniac and didn't want to wait to take over the CBS anchor chair. He threatened CBS executives that he would jump to another network if he didn't become the CBS anchor ASAP. When Rather took over he got rid of every last vestige of Cronkite's presence (including his anchor chair)

Not true, CBS had a mandatory retirement age at 65 which has since been overturned. Roger Mudd was set to replace Cronkite but Rather threatened to leave for another network so he was given the job.
