- In my last video, I did an unboxing video of my new Ruko F11 Gim and for the past few weeks I've been flying it and getting to know all of its features. In this video I do a detailed review of all of the advertised functions and give you guys a full rundown of how to set up and fly the F11 Gim.
Overall, this is a fantastic drone with a lot of features that make it a great choice for anyone looking to get 4K, stabilized video in a beginner-friendly package. Long flight times, GPS navigation, smart follow me features, and a 2-axis gimbal are just some of the awesome features that make the Ruko F11 Gim a fantastic deal.
Hope this is helpful and please let me know in the comments if you have any questions.

First time drone owner and just got this drone off Amazon for 300. I can attest this is an awesome drone for the cost.
Thanks so much! My brother in law gave me this drone because he received it as a gift and he's just not into these kind of things but he figured it was something I would like and he is right. I have had drones before but they were cheap, you control every aspect of flight manually. They never seemed to last to long. And that was many years ago but this thing will fly itself around without you having to touch the joy sticks on the controller. You helped me figure out some of the features so thank you!
This is pretty much what every product review should entail. I came to be wowed by the drone and came away with a subscription.
Thank you for doing this review! I just bought this drone mainly for videography/photography. I’ve never flown a drone before so I have a lot to learn. Watching this review was a great place to start. 😊
My pleasure @Jennifer Clarence! I'm so glad it was helpful. Keep it in "beginner mode" until you get comfortable and you'll be just fine. Happy flying!
You did an excellent job on this review. It was very thorough and concise. Thanks so much for taking the time to demonstrate all the features. I think I'll buy it! 😊
Thanks so much for the feedback @Teach Me! I'm so glad it was helpful! I'd love to know what you think after you've gotten some flights in.
I hope you didn't waste your money on this one, like I did.
This video is EXACTLY what I needed.. first time drone flyer, this is my first drone, very excited. Thank you for this
I'm so glad it was helpul @Goose Gaming! How have your initial flights been?
Excellent review! Also, thank you for making the viewing experience top-notch. I'm going to order mine on Amazon today. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback @franktranfaglia136! So glad it was helpful!
First im french and you speak very clear 100% easy to catch all infos, in a pleasant way for free.
One of the best review i watch for this drone.
You got impressive talent in regards of: precise, usefull, tutorial, humour, simplicity, humility.
Wish you the best continuation.
Thanks so much @eFSpiderGuy! I really appreciate you taking the time to leave that feedback and I'm very glad to hear the video was helpful. Merci!!
Very good and thorough review! I was surprised how long this video was because you kept my attention the entire time and I watched the whole thing lol. Great work and best of luck with your channel!
That's the ultimate compliment @P M. Thanks so much for the feedback!
Time to join the party! Just unboxed mine (the SJRC brother) but before it arrived have been checking out videos. First flight planned later this morning here in Arizona before it gets hot. Your video touches on flight details that others skim over or don't really show as hands on. Yours does so thank you for the detailed instruction and examples! I regularly fly my Yuneec Q500 birds for wedding and real estate videos, but takes awhile to get off the ground for calibrating and waiting for enough satellites. It amazes me how quick the F11 does for both and video quality is just as good if not better. The various features like orbit flight and way points is also a game changer. Thanks again!
Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback @Mark Corby! It really is beneficial and I appreciate it. I'm so happy to hear my review was helpful for you. This one is definitely a little more portable than the Typhoon. If you come across anything that appears different with the SJRC version I'd love to hear about it!
Happy flying!
After watching your video and all the information you gave out on the Ruko drone, I’m convinced on purchasing this drone amongst any other in this price range. I also saved this video in my favorites list just in case I have to use it as reference. Thanks for sharing! I appreciate you.
Wow, thanks for the awesome words @Shiro Campos! I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me that feedback. It means a lot.
I'm so glad my video was helpful. When you do get yours, I'd love to know what you think.
Happy flying my friend!
Thanks! Just got one and your 2 vids were excellent. Still in beginner mode but I'm trying the other setting now.
This is an awesome video. My wife just gave me one of these drones for my birthday a couple of days ago and watching this video really put my mind at ease about being able to fly it without any issues. This is my first drone and definitely don’t want to damage it if I can avoid it. Thank you for doing all of that testing and showing us the abundance of features this drone has. I'm excited to spin her up soon.
Sorry for the late response @ssgveight. Thanks for sharing your feedback and I'm so glad it was helpful. How did the first flights go?
this was all i needed to get a bday present for myself. thanks so much
Awesome! Happy Birthday to you @donbdonbx! 🎉🎂 Thanks for the feedback!
My F11 just arrived today and I’ve had a few flights. This video was super helpful in showing me so many of the other features. Thank you very much for taking your time to help the rest of us out here!
I'm so glad it was helpful @steve nash! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback!

Best flight tutorial video for the Ruko drone. Thank you!
The best review ever !!!!!! Congratulations!!!
Incredibly helpful video... Thanks for your time and input it's helping me a lot..
Thank you so much for this and the unboxing video. Was looking for a decently priced drone with these features to film some overlanding stuff and your reviews convinced me. As a fellow reviewer/ vlogger I appreciate the time and effort that went into this!
Hey thanks @Tacosauce4x4! I checked out your channel and I love it! I hope to take some similar adventures like that myself someday. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. As you know, the positive words mean a lot. I'd love to know what you think of the F11 Gim if you do end up getting one.
Happy flying my friend!
@@ARFTT I had one ordered and saw that the F11 Gim2 just went live on Amazon. So I cancelled my order and got the updated one. Ii figure that they are a reputable enough drone maker that I shouldn't expect any issues with the next iteration of the F11
@@tacosauce4x4 How are you getting on with it? Did yours have optical flow sensors on the bottom? What were the upgrades for the MK2 version?
@@Kholaslittlespot1 it's total junk. The flight controls are awful and the video feed starts cutting out after like 200 meters. Ended up returning it and just getting a dji mavic air 2s
Awesome review. Just got one and your video helped understand the drone alot more.
A very excellent review; and thank you! I just received mine last week. We use a drone at our Mosquito Control District (for pesticide application), which I do not fly (I am one of the trustees), but I wanted to know and understand more about drones. The ones we have for the district are the $35K variety. Again, great review!
Thanks so much @David Trott! I really appreciate the feedback.
What an exciting application you guys have for using drones for mosquito control! I love hearing about all of the fascinating ways they are used to solve problems. I'm glad my review was helpful. How have your first flights been going?
Great review and helpful video to demonstrate all key functionality. thanks for sharing.
My pleasure @Ketav Kshatriya. So glad it was helpful. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback!
I just ordered mine today on Amazon it will arrive tomorrow and I have your video saved so I can go back and watch and learn
Larry how do you like it?
Just got my first drone, Ruko F11 Gim, and your video was really helpful for my first flight! Thanks!
So glad it was helpful @puresugah! I appreciate the feedback!
Great job on this video man.
I appreciate the video and your time, as well as your attention to detail.
Mine was delivered yesterday, but haven't unboxed it yet. I'm going to try it out while camping next week, if I'm not satisfied then I'll send it back and get the Mini 2.
@@snappy2725 LOL...this is funny because yesterday, when I got home from a week away, I literally returned the F11 to Amazon via Kolh's, and immediately ordered the Mini 2 Fly More Care Refresh yada yada yada. As the F11 sat in my living room for week, it gave me more time to research, watch vids, and think it over. I obviously wised up and stopped hating on DJI. I'm excited to get it, as well as some Freewell ND filters. I'm in Colorado, so eventually I'll start posting some great footage. Time for this "cinematography" newbie to start looking into things like Darktable and Blender. Stay tuned, and thanks for your honest feedback. It's a good confirmation on my decision.
Thanks @Mountain State Bushcraft!
Though I haven't flown the Mini 2 yet myself, I definitely agree that DJI puts out some amazing products and from what I've seen, the Mini 2 is no exception. I got nothing but love for DJI, I just love to see the drone market overall growing the way it is. I have no doubt you'll get some killer video with the Mini 2!
Thanks for the feedback and happy flying!
I bought this drone, and now thanks to this very informative video, I have a great video reference manual I can refer to. Thanks for this fantastic video! P.S. tell people that you need to extend your antennae.
So glad to hear that @Dale Hansen! Thanks for the feedback!
And you really don't need to worry about extending the "antenna" because the 2 antenna on the controller aren't functional on the F11 Gim controller since they don't have any wires in them. The controller has an internal antenna.
Great video. Very helpful for when I go back out to fly for just the third time.
Thanks @Kevin Mason! I'm so glad it was helpful. Thanks for the feedback and happy flying!
What an excellent video! I have one on the way to me and this is great. Dude...made me laugh when you said I "booking it" for hauling a$$, I haven't heard that in years!
I caught that too, so great lol
Thank you so much for your F-11 Gim videos.
You took my fear of buying a drone.
Just ordered one. It will be here next Monday.
Thx Dude
You're very welcome @John C Kerner. I'm so happy to hear my review was helpful. I really appreciate that feedback.
Nothing to fear with this one. Keep it in "beginner mode" until you get comfortable and you'll be golden. Happy flying!
It will be here Monday.
I'll let you know how I do.
Thx Again
Pretty awesome thanks for sharing all the info!
Thanks for the feedback @The Traveling R/C!
I just ordered this drone..Thanks for that very informative video! :)

@@ARFTT it’s great for learning how to fly, I upgraded to the dji mini 2 once I got comfortable
Unboxed mine today thanks very helpful video
Outstanding Instructional Video just bought one and I love it Thanks Bro!
Man, I'm so glad to hear that positive feedback @JC&CC FOREVER! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback! Happy flying!
Thank you for the unboxing and this test video. After viewing your videos, I am confident in buying the F11. It is exactly what I am looking for. I purchased a DJI Mini 2, but had to return it, as the app required me to buy a new phone. I am on a family plan, so buying a $300 phone and getting on a different contract just to fly a DJI was out of the question. But I placed the order and will get the F11 in 2 days. Your videos are very professional and I love your backdrop area. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback @Brutuszilla! I'm so glad you liked the video and I appreciate the compliments. My apologies for the delayed reply. I have had similar frustrations with DJI in the past so I totally get that. How has your experience been with the F11 Gim?
I know with me I have dji and my go 4 app I had install it from the website not the app store
Great review. Thank you so much for this. you answered all my questions..
Thanks @Manfromrock TV! I'm so glad to hear that. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback!
Just got one as a present great find to have this video.
Someone must love you @Robert! 😁Hope the video is helpful!
Excellent review- thank you so much! Flew mine for the first time today. This was very helpful. +JMC
I have the SJRC F11 ..... absolutely identical ..... even the app ..... it’s a fantastic drone for the price ...... great review buddy 👍🏻👍🏻
Great to know @Mark Slight! Thanks for letting me know. If you ever come across any differences I'd love to hear about them.
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback @Jeff Justice!
Very good review. A lot of good detailed information
Thanks so much for the feedback @GeezerPleasers! I really appreciate it.
Great review, thanks
Very nice, thank you for the video.
That was awesome man, I screwed up and turned off GPS mode and drone took off and lost it for 10 min. FOR SOME REASON, it came back to me, thank GOD! LOL
Holy cow @Ray Bans! Now that's an impressive story. Instead of "the one that got away" this is "the one that came back" and those types of stories are even more rare, especially when you take GPS out of the equation.
So glad it worked out for you! You must be a praying man 😂
Best explanation ever
Excellent video . thank you for the in-depth tutorial .🎮
Thanks for the feedback @venkod!
Nice work man!
Had my drone out today, after a pretty long hiatus. Went back to your video to give myself a refresher, and build back my confidence before I went out and took some update photos around the neighborhood, and some landscaping changes in our front yard. Want to say thanks again for what you've provided for this drone. All went well. Thank you!
Great review. One of the best reviewers I have seen. I just subscribed..What is the microphone for??
Wow, @Douglas Taylor, what a compliment! I really appreciate that feedback!
If you're referring to the little speaker-looking thing on the bottom of the drone, I believe it's actually a sonar-type sensor used for gathering altitude information. The drone doesn't actually record any sound. If it did, every video would have a swarm of angry bees as the sound track 😁
Thanks, Great video.
Thanks @Gary Zumwalt!
I like the pretty green field in the background at 9 min, while he’s taking his “peace” pic.
#nofilter 😁
Great video. Just got one. Watched the vid while batteries were charging.
Thanks @thebiggesth8r! I hope it's helpful!
Great video, seems to me , it's a run for the money compared to DJI . thanks for the info . Happy flying :)
Thanks @jager man60! Yep, I would agree it's a pretty good alternative to DJI. It lacks obstacle avoidance sensors, but other than that, I'm super impressed with it.
Thanks for the feedback!
Great review, very detailed! You convinced me to buy my first drone and now I’m in love with it. Will be looking to upgrade in the future but for now this an excellent drone and budget friendly! Thank again man, u da shiiiii!
Thanks for the feedback @Jon Almanza! I'm so glad I had something to do with your purchase and even more glad that you're happy with it. The F11 Gim is definitely a great place to start. Happy flying my friend!
GREAT VIDEO
Your video explained quite a few things that the user manual did not. Very well done! You might mention that the user manual with the drone is large enough to read - other companies print manuals with print so small that it is unreadable.
Thank you very much this is indeed great.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback @Magdy Mahmoud! I hope it was helpful.
Excellent real world review :)
Thanks so much @Dad Fun Stuff!
An excellent and nicely detailed review so thanks for your efforts.
I received my SJRC F11 Pro 4K a week ago and so far am very pleased with it. The GPS on mine is absolutely perfect, so it just sits up there like it’s parked in the sky with no need to touch of the controls.
The camera and gimbal also works perfectly for great videos. The MP4 files tend to be a bit large but that’s ok with me.
You were also the only reviewer that I have seen to cover the Non-GPS mode trim feature. The manual was not very clear on that. I assumed that you held that “Speed Switch” down the whole time you were adjusting the trim using the right control stick, correct?
Thank again for your efforts, they are appreciated.
Thanks so much for the detailed feedback @Ray of Slinger WI!
I'm also very pleased with the gimbal and video quality. Unfortunately 4K videos do tend to be on the larger side, but that's a good thing in my opinion.
Yeah I'm super surprised that nobody else is covering the non-gps trim. That's a huge benefit and not every drone has that feature so I'm very happy that Ruko inlcluded that feature on the F11 Gim. And yes, I was holding down the speed switch while giving the control inputs. As soon as you release the speed switch it's going to record those inputs as trim.
Thanks again for the feedback. Happy flying my friend!
Did your SJRC version have optical flow sensors on the bottom? I see some versions don't have it. I'm torn between this and the dji mini SE.
@@Kholaslittlespot1 No, mine did not have the optical Flow camera/feature on it. I think that came out about 6 months or so after I got mine. Frankly, that was the only thing preventing mine from being a truly exceptional drone. It is still flying great and I have no regrets in buying it when I did. I like that Optical flow feature because it allows you to fly indoors (gently) to maybe burn a battery down to a storage voltage if you had charged it up for outside flights and did not get an opportunity to use them. You should not leave a battery fully charged for long periods in storage.
Very nice job with this review.👍 BTW just a quick question, how did you do to register it please ..?
Great review. I just picked one of these up because of this review. I'm keeping it for later reference because quite frankly, trying to read the manual is painful because its written so poorly.
Haha, I can totally relate @Jason Krug! I make the sort of detailed videos that I always hope to find when I get a new toy. Thanks so much for the feedback. Let me know how you like it!
Wow tnks for ur time
It's my pleasure!
Thanks you video Help me a lot
So glad it helped @Jose Moyenot! Thanks for the feedback!
Nice I just got it yesterday yea
So how do you like it?
So I appreciate the video you covered everything that I've experienced except for one thing that happened to me several times when I first bought this drone. Before this drone I had the f11 and unfortunately I lost it in the intercoastal water I live in East Central Florida and there was a problem hooking up the app to the drone so I flew it with just the controller and when I hit return home it just went straight down in the water and I couldn't get it since it was so far out my guess is that it had enough battery juice to take off and head out over the water but when I hit return home it didn't have enough juice to get back to me and just dropped so I saw this new f11 gim and I purchased it. The first couple of times I flew it there was no issue but there was a time where I hit return home and it started to come back to me but then I lost all control. It started doing big loops in the air and pretty much going down the street and doing what it wanted. I tried to get it back home myself and land it but like I said I had no control I was lucky to get it to land although it landed rough in my neighbor's front yard. I flew it a few more times with no issue and then again another time I hit the home button and it did the exact same thing. I had messaged ruko and they told me to make sure I calibrated it when I flew it which I always do. I never had a problem with my other drone like this so I decided to return it and get another one because I thought maybe this drone might be defective. So far I've flown this drone a few times and I haven't had those issues. I'm still going to continue to fly it but if this happens again with this drone I plan on returning it and going back to my f11. I really don't want to but I also don't want to be scared that I'm going to lose this new drone or have no control over it to where it crashes and damages it. My old drone I had no problem flying it nor was I scared to but this new drone does give me some anxiety just because of having that no control of getting it home. I don't understand why it did that so if there's any insight you can give me on why it would do that I would appreciate it. Am I clear into thinking that every time I land it I have to calibrate it? With the old drone I just calibrated it the first time I flew it and no matter how many times I landed it in that battery time it didn't lose control. If I'm flying this drone and I land it before the battery dies do I have to calibrate it every time I take off? That was the only problem I had with this new drone. Everything you discussed in your video was the same experience I had except for the gesture. I cannot get that to work to save my life but it's not a big deal. I also noticed in your video that you had hit the home button on your phone screen whereas I use the home button on the controller. I never had a problem with losing control of the drone at least the old one but so far so good with this replacement drone. Hopefully it won't do that again.
That was a "mouthful" @DJ SPIN! Sorry to hear you're having issues. It definitely sounds like the first issue you had was related to not having enough battery to return home. A general rule of thumb is to reserve 20-50% of your battery for the return flight depending on how far you are and the weather conditions. A lot of the newer drones will start to return home automatically at a certain point, but if you're flying back into the wind or you end up too far away, it probably won't make it. I'm reeeeeally hesitant to fly out over open water with any of my drones.
The second issue sounds to me like interference of some sort. Though it shouldn't behave like that, I know it's possible for stay signals to interfere with the control signals that are being sent to the drone via your controller. That could make it behave irratically. It's just odd that it happened when you hit "return to home". What did Ruko say about that? Their tech support and customer service have been top notch in my experience so far!
Also, you definitely don't need to recalibrate every time. The only time you really need to recalibrate is if you're flying some place new that's far away from the last place you calibrated, or after a crash. There's nothing wrong with doing it every time (to my knowledge) but you definitely don't need to.
Hopefully you don't have any more issues!
Any issues since? I'm torn between this and a DJI mini
Very thank you bro!
You're very welcome!
Excellent review. Wish that I can see the onboard video quality more. The quality may not be as good as I thought 4k would be. Right?
Awesome review just got mine tonight gunna let the batteries charge and try it tomorrow. Do you know if you have to register it with the faa?
If it more than 0.55 lbs then you might need to get it registered.
Thanks @John Rando!
And yes, as @insanitybased reality pointed out, you would need to register the F11 Gim in order to fly legally since it weighs 20.6 oz (or 1.2 lbs).
Great review! Why do you think Ruko drones have dynamic RTH feature? It would be handy if I change my location, i.e. riding or hiking and not wanting to go back to the original point.
Nice review Bro 👍👍👍
Thanks @Al'Jac's Vlog! I really appreciate the feedback!
@@ARFTT u welcome Bro 👌🙏
Very good review. Question though, what about flying it at night? Does it have IR or night vision?
might save up for this!
If you do @Speedy Muffin, let us know what you think!
Great video, very detailed.
Question: Is there a default video record time? I ask because I've noticed that my videos max out at five minutes, not sure if it's a settings thing.
Thanks for the feedback @Michael Berggren. I really appreciate it.
I spent some time digging around all of the menu options in the app and I don't see anywhere that gives you an option to adjust the default record time. If I had to guess, there's probably a reason for the 5 minute cap. At 4K, my 5:00 videos are almost 1.5 gigs each. That's a lot of data to manage so it probably makes it easier to chop it up into manageable chunks and save it in smaller bites as opposed to processing one huge video file. Also, I'm not sure if the video records to the SD card in real time as you fly or if it records at the end of the flight once you press the record stop button. I would guess that it automatically saves the video to the card after 5 minutes. That's not a bad thing in my opinion. If you fly for 15 minutes and crash or something goes wrong, you could potentially lose the video of the whole flight. Breaking it up ensures you get at least every 5 minutes.
@@ARFTT Thanks for the reply.
That makes sense, I noticed that it does save multiple times if I go longer than five minutes, I had originally thought that it was just cutting out after five.
It does save automatically to card every five minutes it seems.
Great Review and yours seems to cover way more than others. I received my Drone today and went over the instruction manual. During the compass calibration in the manual reads as camera facing down, the Ruko video it is facing up, and your review has it facing up, so does it matter or would it change anything?
Thanks for the feedback @Terry Weisflog!
I also noticed that same thing. The manual shows it one way and the animation on the app screen shows it another. I really don't think it matters but I haven't tested it both ways back-to-back, so don't quote me on that. Knowing how poorly translated some of these manuals can be, I've been defaulting to what the app demonstrates (face down as I did it in the video) and so far, no issues.
Hope that helps!
Hey, nice review! Do you think is worth to buy this one instead of DJI or if you have the money buying the DJI is better? This taking into account that I've never flyed a drone.
Thanks for reaching out @Jose Humberto Contreras. That's a great question. Here's what I would say: The Ruko F11 Gim is fantastic but from what I've heard, there is an identical model of this drone that is sold by SJRC. A quick Google search popped up the SJRC F11 Pro available at Walmart for $276. Here's the link:
www.walmart.com/ip/SJRC-F11-4K-PRO-RC-Drone-Camera-Adult-2-axis-Gimbal-Brushless-Motor-5G-Wifi-FPV-GPS-Quadcopter-Point-Interest-Waypoint-Flight-26mins-Flight-Time-Stor/499946592?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101001360
It's hard to beat that price for the amount of flying time and features that you get with the F11.
That being said, I love my DJI products. If you can afford it and you want all of the bells and whistles (including collision avoidance on some models) I don't think you would be disappointed on spending the extra money on a DJI product.
Let us know what you decide!
If you have to put another battery in it during the same session do you have to go through the whole re zero process again or is there a memory for a little while? Good video.
Great video mate, i was wondering one thing. Did you give it full throttle forward anywhere in the video?
Thanks so much @Mika Kanetun! I'm so sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this reply.
I believe you can see the max forward throttle around 28:45 in the video when I'm killing the battery in sport mode. It's no speed demon but it's fast enough to get hard to see in a hurry 😊. Hope that helps!
I am very Appreciated that You describe in every detail of your Review......👍👍👍
It helps me A Whole lot...
Thank you....

Thanks for the feedback and the sub @Sralaine 007 o-007! I'm so happy that it was helpful!
Hey thank you for the video I ended up purchasing one for my self now the question I have is can you show us how to do tricks with the drone still new to this and learning
Thanks for the feedback @Abid Ishtiaq!
I'm not sure that this is the best drone for learning tricks on. It's got a lot of stability features that keep it from doing anything too crazy. I don't even think it has a "flip" function like some toy drones do, but that's not really what this one was intended for. You're probably going to want to look into something like an FPV racing drone if you want to do actual tricks.
@@ARFTT thank you so much for the reply I appreciate your feed back I love my RUKO 11 gim it’s amazing will definitely look into investing in something more for tricks
I just bought this drone and love it. Your review was terrific, thank you. I am having an issue that is probably related to my old iPhone6 but wanted to verify. When my drone is more than 125 feet away, the video is VERY slow and after 150 feet, unresponsive completely. Two questions. 1. If i put in waypoints for the drone to follow, will it follow them even though it's lost contact with the phone. ? 2. Is there a recommended phone to use with this drone.? I also have a Galaxy pad that the app works on and the screen is huge, haven't tried it yet though. Assuming it's a 5g wifi issue.....
Thanks so much for the feedback @Charles Nickels! I'm really happy to hear my review was helpful.
I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability:
1) I haven't tested this exact scenario, but from what I understand of the technology, I believe it will. When you "send waypoints" it uploads them to the drone's flight controller which then takes over. It should continue even if you lose contact with the phone. However, I don't think the same can be said if it loses contact with the controller. If it loses contact with the controller, it will probably default to "Return to Home" regardless of what waypoints it's currently tracking. Also, I don't believe it will fly outside of that "safety fence" that I mention in the video, even if your waypoint's are outside of it.
2) I can't say for sure, but I have a new 5G Note 20 (that I used for the video) as well as my older Note 8 and it works great on both of those phones. If I had to guess, I would also assume that 5G wifi is the culprit, but you might reach out to Ruko directly for more details. They've been really helpful with all of my questions!
Hope that helps!
I just received my new RUKO F11.
You did a great job with this video. One question. When you had it in “follow-me” will the F11 RUKO avoid objects? Thanks for the video.
Unfortunately the F11 Gim doesn't have any sort of obstacle avoidance :( Thanks for the feedback!
Hello i just purchased the Ruko U11 and ive watched your video nice, question ive seen a drone fly and turn like a remote control plan, fast banked truns is that even possible with this drone asking because F11 gim will be my next drone
Excellent informational review. I’m stoked to get more flight time with mine. Had it for a few days now and working amazingly so far
Question, do your remote control battery life show any LCD lit up when on? Also i heard you said record on the phone as well as the Drone. Does it save the automatically save on the phone and can you manually turn that feature off?
Thanks.
So i know this is really late to ask questions lol but, does the image track make the drone actually follow you if you were to walk AWAY? I know if you walk under it it wont but will the drone only rotate to keep you in frame or will it actually change location
Thank you for the informative video! I have a question about the gimbal. Mines looks like yours out the box. It's crooked and leans to the side like yours does while you were sitting at the table. My question is does this straighten out at some point? Or is their a way to make it stay straight? I haven't actually flown it yet all I've done is get it to lift off the ground. I tried to use the trigger on the remote to move the camera while it was stationary and nothing happened. Is my gimbal busted or does it have to been in flight to straighten out? The camera does pick up the images, but I'm concerned something may be wrong with it. Am I just being paranoid? Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated!
Hey @TheSeas721! Thanks for the feedback!
In answer to your question, check out the beginning of the video at the 4:45 mark ("Calibrating the F11 Gim"). The first part of the calibration process that I go through (where I move bot sticks up and out) calibrates the gimbal to horizontal. Make sure the drone is sitting on a flat level surface when you do this.
Let me know if that helps!
Would you consider this a good beginner drone? In all your flying of it have you ever crashed it? just trying to get a idea of the difficulty. The video made it look really easy. Great video by the way.
Hey @Tim C. Tricky question. My personal recommendation to friends and people I've trained is buy a cheap one to learn to fly on (JJRC makes some practically indestructible ones that are even waterproof). Beat the snot out of that to learn the controls and then transition to a more expensive drone once you have the muscle memory built up for the controls.
That being said, the F11 Gim is very beginner-friendly. It has a "beginner mode" that makes it very stable and slower to respond to control inputs. It has an auto takeoff and auto land function and it's very stable in the air.
The only "crash" I've experienced was at the 43:00 minute mark in my video when it crashed into the wall after trying to return home in my sunroom. The folding arms and folding props absorb a lot of impact during a crash so after it hit the wall, I unfolded the arms, recalibrated it and it took right back off with no issues. So it's definitely durable, at least for slow impacts. If you fly it straight into a wall/tree at full speed, I don't know how it would fare, but minor impacts it does fine.
Keep in mind, there's no collision avoidance features on this drone so if you're an absolute first time pilot, I personally wouldn't start on something in this price range unless it had some collision avoidance functionality, however, if you're wanting to get something you can learn on and grow into, the F11 Gim is a great place to start.
Hope that helps. Good luck and happy flying!
Very good video i sub
Thanks for the sub and the feedback @UNLEASH mayhem1! How do you like it?
I learned more from watching the first 5 minutes of you flying the drone than I did reading the instructions or watching the manufacturer's instructional video. Thanks for doing all the leg work. As an aside, do you think the issue with the gesture for taking the picture might of had anything to do with the fact that you were recording video while trying to take a picture? Idk. Just a thought. I'll give it a go tomorrow
Thanks for the feedback @Finca Life! I'm super glad it was helpful.
That's a great observation on the gesture photo issue! I'm convinced that's what it was. The video gesture worked so perhaps it can't take photos while it's recording video? Good catch!
Happy flying my friend!
@@ARFTT I will be messing around with it later tonight, if the temp will drop below 100 degrees. I want to let you know that if not for your video, and how easy you made it look, I would never had flown that drone. I purchased it a little over a month ago, tested it out and didn't have much success. So I followed the link to the instructional video provided by the manufacturer, and I was left even more confused. After watching what you were doing I was getting pretty good footage with what little daylight I had left. So again, thanks for doing the legwork.
Oh, and happy flying to you as well. Be safe
I just this drone and just found this video. Where did you get the landing pad and do I need one, do I need a specific one or can I get anything?
Thank you for the video... I am new to drones, I ordered my F11 Gim last night it will arrive tomorrow. I am planning to use it to view the entirety of my property in NV. My question for you has to do with altitudes. The property has hills and valleys, that range 4000’-5800’ elevation. If I am trying to maintain 150’ from the ground in the valley 4000’ elev, over a hill that is 4800’ elev. Will the drone adjust for the 800’ elev change in GPS mode?
Thanks so much for the feedback @Robert Waller! Make sure you let us know your experience. Surveying your property sounds like an awesome application.
In regards to your question, unfortunately, I don't think so. I don't really have any way to test this because I live in Florida by the coast and it's suuuuuper flat around here. But from what I can gather, the drone can't really adjust for changes in terrain. Though it uses its GPS location for positioning, I don't believe it uses GPS for altitude. I think it uses a barometric and acoustic sensor for that so it relies on air pressure (and sonar?) for altitude hold. It works great for hovering but wouldn't do much when moving at higher altitudes. Unfortunately I think you're going to have to manually adjust for altitude changes.
If you test this and find out something different, please let me know. I'd be super curious to hear updates. Just be careful. Those tree tops can sneak up on ya.
Thanks again and happy flying!
As you said, "find the drone" feature works well, but it will show its last location "before" it automatically returns to home (loss of signal or low battery).
So that's 1080p right, I'd like to see some 4k 30 footage if you ever get a chance, I'm giving you a follow my friend, I'm torn between this one and the holystone hs720e, I haven't ordered yet, still investigating it a bit before I do, thanks for the video my friend 🙏💯
Thanks so much for the feedback and the sub @Jens G.! The few clips in the video that say "onboard video" were taken straight from the sd card on board the drone. Definitely a noticeable quality difference. But I upload the video to RUclips in 1080 so I guess it's only going to be as good as that, no matter what resolution it started in.
One thing to keep in mind between the HS720e (and I love Holy Stone!) is the 2 axis gimbal on the F11 Gim. The HS720 only has an up/down camera gimbal so any side to side motion of the drone (which you'll definitely get) will show up in the video. The F11 Gim has a gimbal that cancels out the side to side motion and makes the video a lot smoother. If you're going to be using it primarily for video, I think the F11 Gim is worth the extra money (especially if you get one of the clones like the SJRC version).
Hope that helps! Thanks again for the feedback!
This may be a silly question but does this work well with a iphone 11 and I want to use this with a bait release for fishing? Will it work with a universal bait release?
Are the antennae on the control functional, I noticed that there are no wires connected to them. Seem to be ornamental only. Thanks
Hey @norman ziegelmeyer. Yes sir, your observations are correct. I also inspected them and found that there are no wires in them, they are purely decorative. I did have one gentleman comment that he was able to turn the into functional antenna's but stock from the factory, they are just ornamental. That being said, the F11 Gim still has a pretty impressive range for an internal antenna. Not sure why they felt the need to include ones that weren't functional.
How do you determine where you can fly your drone? Do you have any suggestions so there will be no issues and I won’t get into trouble.
Wish all Amazon reviews had videos like this. Major help would recommend calling them and sending them this video to help sell their product If you haven't
Also: Do you have a link for that particularly Helipad?
Thanks so much for that compliment @Cephalon Stitch. Knowing that they're helpful is the whole reason I'm making these videos, so the feedback means a lot!
I don't have the link for that specific helipad (I got it for Christmas a few years ago) but this one seems to be identical:

Thanks again for the feedback and happy flying!
In the beginning when you opened up the app, you clicked and dragged something around to the bottom of the screen. What was that and how do you get it to appear on the app? Thx in advance for your reply.
Hey @ JS! That little icon I moved out of the way was just the controls for the screen recorder on my cell phone. That's how I record what I'm doing on the phone screen. That's a Note 20 feature, not a feature in the Ruko app. Good observation though!
question i just got the f11 gim i need to register it with the faa they want a sn # i cant find one. got any ideas ?
Very through review! Thanks. I will say though, every review I have seen when it comes to landing it is never spot on. I've noticed that myself when landing.
Thanks for the feedback @John Harty.
That's a good observation about the spot landing, but considering the accuracy and deviation of standard GPS, and the fact that there aren't any optical sensors on the F11 Gim (at least not that I'm aware of) I'm not entirely surprised by that. Without RTK or some sort of optical sensor, I don't know that you're ever going to get enough accuracy from standard GPS alone to stick the landing on the pad every time.
With good number of GPS satellites, best expected accuracy is a 3' radius. Drone's 3' + phone's 3' will put it in a 6' radius. Mine will hit the mark now and then, but it's usually within a couple of feet. Be aware that if you land away from your original takeoff point (and stop the motors) and restart the motors, that new startup position becomes your new Home point.
