  • Hi everyone, I decided to upload this video for anyone interested in a 2018+ Mustang GT, specifically the non-active exhaust option. In my opinion, the stock exhaust on this year range 5.0 sounds sweet! Deep yet subtle. Just a cold start so no real revs here. Still deciding on which exhaust to go with down the line, but stay tuned!
Visit my channel for my lowering/wheels tires setup video.
Let me know if you guys would like to see any specific types of videos on this car. Enjoy!

I'd listen to what the exhaust system sounds like when you're revving up. I think this will help everyone in choosing an active system or a stock one... All the same, I think, even using an active exhaust system-everyone will put the loudest, because they bought a 5.0 engine, if they wanted silence, they would take 2.3.

Cool. So is this pretty much the same as the 2021 without active exhaust? Been looking for one with the active exhaust but I'd figure I'll just get it like this and buy a catback exhaust

Beautiful sound alright. How does active exhaust work? Doesn't all GT Mustangs from 2018 onwards have active exhaust? If so, is this a video of the exhaust in 'normal' mode? So good looking in the black too.

Active exhaust isn't standard, it costs an extra $995 and isn't something dealers usually order for stock.
Its "normal" mode is roughly equivalent to standard, non-active. In addition you also have a Quiet mode which is surprisingly, you guessed it, quiet. You also have Sport and Track mode, which are louder than Normal but sound about the same. Track seems to have more crackles and burbles on deceleration but the volume is the same as Sport.
The valves work in all modes, letting the exhaust stay relatively quiet at idle (except on cold start) but they open up when you apply throttle, proportional to load and throttle input. This means if you're beating on the car in Quiet mode, it'll still be loud (since the engine can't operate at 4,000 rpm with no exhaust flow.)
You can set the system to always start in Quiet or Normal, and you can set times to start in Quiet.
So for example I leave for work at 5:08 every morning. My car knows to start in Quiet mode before 8:00, so it always starts in Quiet when I leave to go *to* work. But when I'm leaving work to come home at 3:30 it starts in Normal, without any further input from me.
The system will *not* allow you to startup in Sport or Track mode; though cold starts in Normal sound mean anyway.
The active valve setup is *totally* worth the $995 in my opinion, and many people find it totally adequate and never change any exhaust components as a result. Some delete the resonator to get more growl, but I don't think I'll have to.

Love the stance. Did you use spacers? What size wheels and tires? The Steeda looks great.

Thank you! No spacers, just the 10.5 front 11 rear width
