One of the best Terminator games and a favorite on the Amiga. This port is not as good, but its still a good terminator game based on the Arcade original.
The game supports pad and lightgun (Menacer). I used pad, can you guess which one based on 'out of control' curser ;)
I lose a few lives here and there. Sometimes too much onscreen at once. Not a perfect playthrough but it is a complete good ending longplay. One annoyance in this version that I found was the need to be pixel perfet to get the pickups from the crates, especially annoying when youre trying to collect while dodging fire. -

This game was so awesome. This game and Mortal Kombat II were the 2 most popular arcade games @ the time.
Here's how to beat this god damned truck kevel. Works for me pretty much every time:
- pay no attention to endoskeletons, they cannot harm the truck
- this is important: look in which direction the gunner is pointing his chaingun, as that is the direction from which the HK's are going to enter the screen. They also come in a patter which can be memorized (left, right, left, left etc.)
- shoot the HK's with rockets as soon as they enter the screen
Carry this knowledge further with pride. It took me 20 years to figure it out :)
I beat the truck stage by writing down the pattern of the HKs so I'd know where to have my cursor. I'd make sure to get as many of the rockets as possible right before the truck starts to drive off. My mistake would be to conserve rockets but the HKs are pretty quick to take each one out with just one rocket. So instead I just spam rockets like it's a machine gun. I eventually run out, but usually there's maybe only 4 or 5 HKs left and they can't destroy the truck.😂
That truck scene......
MY FIRST RAGE QUIT!!!
+414MrMilwaukee I never beat it. frustrating!
You're not the only one, I destroyed a chair over that bs level.
I just fired rockets every few seconds regardless of whether there was something there or not. Got enough random hits to get me through
@@mrgiskard Exactly.
@@BrendanB128 this level truck i have to sasceed. First time to year 1995 and now 2018-2020 From Athens Greece.
This was a great conversion of the Arcade game! Probe did a remarkable job getting these titles to run on the Megadrive/Genesis back in the day.
This is a really cool game! 🙂
I like this version for it's kick ass soundtrack.
It was done by Matt Furnis, who also did the Soundtrack for Mortal Kombat on Genesis/Megadrive as well as Castle Master on C64.
This was done from scratch. Much credit to the developers for pulling this off with the color limitations. SNES looks better but the animations is smoother here in certain moments.
@@roldanrosario8292 Actually the SNES version is a lot lower res and is missing background elements like the Skynet Silos. The Genesis version is too Blue also. It's kinda weird but the Game Gear version has better color variety.
@@TotalMK I’ll check the game gear version right now. Thanks.
The megadrive/genisys had a better sound card than the SNES. But personally I think it's down to what you played and remember as a kid.
Got this at a gaming convention two years ago. Hard as hell, but still fun, and I friggin' love Furniss' music. 😎🎵🎶
Man, I used to love playing this in the arcade with my brothers!! Just picked up this version today for $6 complete!!
We all hate the truck level!!! >_
daminmancejin Fucking right. I hate that damn level too much!
daminmancejin at least it gave you infinite continues
The chopper one is harder...
At least with the red truck you know you can do something. But that chopper rams the swat truck once too much and it's over.
yeah even with s turbo joypad it was still hard
I hate the ambulance camion level
The soundtrack is awesome, just like all Matt Furniss Soundtracks
Alien 3 has to be one of my favorite soundtracks done by him
I remember being very pleased with myself the first time I beat the truck level.
The Music on the Genesis Version is was better than on the SNES!
The SNES uses the arcade music, the Genesis uses.....whatever the hell Matt Furniss came up with over breakfast that day.
The pickup truck part is actually easy. The HK's are the ones that damage the truck. Ignore the terminators and memorize the directions the HK's come from, its the same every time. Spam rockets to kill them as they enter the screen. Do that and you can pass the stage easily.
Genesis t2 is better than snes because you can shoot the missiles as fast as you press the button just like the arcade. Snes on the other hand only allows one missle on the screen at a time, maybe its to reduce game slowdown. Something Genesis never has to worry about.
"3 Billion human lives ended on August 29th, 1997."
Wow! What did I miss lol.
I've always thought is was happening in the year 1997 as I was 5th grade.
In my humble opinion, Terminator 2: The Arcade Game on the Genesis/Mega Drive was one of the better video games of the Terminator license I've played, some things withstanding. My turnoffs were the driving stages where one false move meant starting over and losing precious credits, and I really hated how slow it took for your standard machine gun bar to refill. There have been plenty of arcade rail shooters that have come before and after T2: TAG that had the "infinite ammo but release the trigger to reload" gameplay, but in T2: TAG, it's an issue that leaves you open to getting -- no pun intended -- terminated.
The infamous truck level. Never actually beat it without skipping.
Nice little detail in original arcade version where human fighters actually destroyed terminators with their grenades, in these home versions they are 100% decorations lol
I could never beat the truck part, lol.
yes it was hard, probably hardest level, but not unbeatable.
me too
Same!
Me too. Had this with the menacer
All that happens is that John gets killed and you lose.
Really loved the music and sound effects in this version.
After 20 years I finally get to see what is after that damn truck stage.
Fuck the truck.
Love this game though, when I could get past the truck.
You know what'd be great to see? A remake of this game with modern graphics but built like a modern day arcade shooter.
With added details and things going on in the background (like in level 3, have the background show John's resistance fighting skynet alongside the player)
Get a PSP or PSP GO, and see if this is on MAME(MULTI ARCADE MACHINE EMULATOR)
*I beat this game* in the Arcade when I was a kid. I was on a mission that night. Didn't matter how many quarter rolls it took. I was going to beat it.
I was saddened no one was there to see me beat it. Was hoping someone would notice how far I had gotten and stirred a crowd, but no luck.
I literally never even passed the truck. I remember playing this game as a kid on my Genesis and being so mad because I couldn't get past that part. Well at least now I know what happens after that LOL
Welcome to the Salty Spittoon, how tough are ya?
I beat the T2 Arcade game!
Yeah, so?
With a Genesis D-pad.
R-right this way, sir.
Never made it past the truck lol
Mad that im sat at work 25 odd years later watching for the first tine the level after the truck level for the first time. I must have sunk hours trying to get past it before i eventually gave up and never played it again
Dressed up terminators be like: "STRIKE A POSE!"
watching this, makes me feel a boy again! now, i am 30+ , :-(
That Childhood day when I finally beat this game with a friend (and a Menacer) feels so distant...
The sega cd port was planned, but canceled for unknown reasons. Was gonna look and play like the arcade since unlike genesis alone, Sega Cd Does support Scaling.
I can remember spending half my allowance on the Arcade game...several times! The home or Sega version was pretty dope also.
I remember getting this game when it came out with the Lazer gun. The Lazer gun broke after a few months, but I still played this game for several years. Was able to finish the game, but it took me a few years.
I am glad I was not the only one to get stuck on the truck level.
never got pass the level with the pickup truck being attacked!!!!
Indeed! I would always get stuck when I played this in an arcade.
Uh, 9?
ChevyRacing23 LEVEL 3! I only passed it once in my life.....back when gaming was tougher.
ChevyRacing23 agree. That level sucks.
It was easier at the arcade. Seriously.
The music was excellent on this game :) Shame about that truck section on the 3rd level. Obviously wasn't play tested enough, broken beyond belief.
I want this game for my old SEGA Genesis so badly.
Could never do the truck level first time, still one of the hardest levels ever on sega.
Thank you for getting the good ending, I'd forgotten how it went.
I can't even tell you how disappointed I am that you didn't put ASS in the score board.
That damn truck part was impossible. I had to go buy a sega scope to actually be able to beat it because the controller was too slow. I couldn't move between the terminators and the flying bastards.
/THE FUCKIN TRUCK LEVEL omg, im glad im not alone in this.. it was SO HARD... only 1/4 the time i could get past it!!
Very nice game👍👍👍👏
Fun once you get past the truck stage.
I love how the first boss (that being the giants H.K. tank) looks just like R.O.B. The Robot! (L.O.L.!)
Wall e 😁😁😁😁🍻🍻🍻🍻✌️☃️🏖️
In the words of Sarah Conner " you're terminated, fucker! "
29:20 Arnold jumping the gun on the Dark Fate action here
As a kid i could never beat the truck level.
The trick I used on the truck level was to save all the missiles you can and then put your cursor on the top right of the screen and start spamming them. I never knew about destroying the cyberdine stuff and would always get the bad ending.
To pass the truck part you have to shoot at the machine and throw missles at it at the same time
During the escape in the van, the T-1000 is real fast for switching vehicles oO
An Awseome Port Of Terminator 2 Judgement Day Arcade Game
Thank goodness I rented this one back then and not judgement day!
Great BGM, better than the arcade IMO. My favorites are the first boss, stage 2, & the Cyberdyne raid themes (this last one really goes well with "destroy everything").
The truck was an unbeatable level back in the day!
the end is ridiculous
Dude I had this and the menacer... it was sick
Could never beat that truck level. Don't make sense
I love this game. Great work cubix!
Just got it at a local video game store a few days ago. Cannot wait
This absolutely NEEDS to be played with a Menacer.
I remember throwing my controller on the floor numerous times trying to beat this game.
Same here. If it wasn't for the level-skip cheat (and later, Game Genie codes), I would have never seen the end of this game. In my humble opinion, if the two truck levels weren't in this game, I'd say that the game would be more or less balanced.
this guy is special
Truck Scene, One of the frustrating level game ever made. Developer made it good level of the difficulty
The soundtrack it’s completely different. But awesome.
Deal-breaker, the lack of the HASTA LA VISTA quote!
My friend used to call the bombs/missiles you get in this game 'uzi bombs'.
You have to play this game with 2 people, no matter what, it's very exaggerated
man. the Genesis version was much cooler then the snes version. thank god I owned the gen version
Yeah and I was genesis sega cd guy also I remembered people saying snes was better back then but that's b.s. sound and gameplay on sega way better graphics maybe a little better on snes
Great video game but very hard
Stage 3... IT'S STILL IMPOSSIBLE.
Although the graphics on the SNES look a bit more similar to the arcade, i kinda like the way the genesis looks more.
I remember this game on Amiga! I was pretty crap at it though lol
The music is better in here, but it's played CONSTANTLY WITH THE SAME 1 TRACK!!!
Alsome sountrack, brilliant game, protecting the driver level still one of the most difficult tasks in game history.
Still love this game :)
This game looks sick! Neck shot gives you instant headshot Kill, whoop !
that fuckin RED PICKUP BIT THO... Ahhhhhhh....hated it......loved it.....hated it....[PUNCH TV]
This game is Mad.......Fun once you get past the Truck level.
soundtrack is fucking sweet
Yet John Connor dies in the next cannonical film.
Words scrolling scared the shit out of me lol so loud
Only way I had any success with T2 back in the day was by using the Sega 3 button controller with the Turbo switch slider and I made sure I set it to Turbo 3 max so you don't ever have to worry about item pick up's such as triggers as you only need missiles and or shotgun shells on the present day stages.
This game literally gave me nightmares when I played it
why did it give you nightmares?
I'm still playing the first terminator genesis game that damn first level
On stage 3 you dont EVER worry about the running Endoskeletons. Ignore them and do the level right. Concentrate on JUST the HK's. Dude playing it did a wicked dumb move by knowing the truck had heavy damage and he still tried to go for the Endoskeletons.
Miss This Game Soo Much
This games easy i beat this when i was ten years old lol the key to the truck level is memorise which side they fly in from. I made a note of which side they come from on the screen with an arrow left or right. Its always the same everytime you play so eventually you will get past it.
Me like 9:22 that's it? Is this over now? 9:29 oh sh*t here we go here we go!
Mega Drive soundtrack better than arcade
2:15 terminator be like
"come at me bro!"
Guy that comes outta the truck is John Connor? I swear the driver looks like a Mexican....
IN THE WORDS OF MY DAD, SEE THAT BUTTON YOU'RE SQUEEZING
Played the shit out of this always laughed at the terminator side view strut.
And thats how a shooter game should be, with endless hordes of enemies heading towards you!!
3:21 cool target sound
Great play through by the way.
My one BIG complaint with this version, why are all the sprites not digitized, but totally redrawn? The T-1000 looks extremely goofy at the end, and looks nothing like Robert Patrick.
At a guess: this was probably due to difficulties in converting the graphics to the limited colour palette available. Different developers approached this in different ways. IIRC this version was done by Probe, and AFAIK redrawing everything was their standard approach. Even in the Mortal Kombat games that they did, the backgrounds were completely redrawn while Sculptured's MK3 used digitized and colour reduced backgrounds instead. Probe's MK backgrounds look "better" but less faithful, while Sculptured's are more faithful but washed out looking and dithered.
It seems strange that they chose to redraw everything in this case though, because the T1000 in particular looks really bad and I'm sure they could have managed to convert at least the digitized sprites without completely redrawing them. The funny thing is that they did keep John Connor's digitized sprite on the third level, but that might be the only one.
Maybe the graphic tools available at the time to scale and recolour art were really bad, because they weren't the only dev to do this. Revolution X by Rage seems to have used a mix of colour reduced and completely redrawn graphics, and DDI's port of Rise of the Robots redraws everything except for the main sprites. In that case I have reason to believe that they traced over low colour renders and coloured by hand. It looks decent but it meant that the backgrounds in particular lost their rendered look.
i remember this game - my brother had it on megadrive. i remember one time he asked me to play it with him, mainly cos of the pursuit with the truck and helicopter, and he got angry with me cos apparently i was playing it wrong. i clearly remember he told me to shoot the helicopter.
8:56 best jingle of the game
I gave this game a go on my channel and for ages i was stuck on mission 3 when John Connor is in the truck and you have to protect him, I just cant do this mission at all :/ would anyone have tips to do that level as I've tried and keep failing?
Ah i had been switchin gbetween firing against the Hunter KIllers up top and the endo terminators at the side of the truck, im doing a challenge soon to try and get passed this level so il take that advice and use it :) thank you John :)
Some tips about how to finish this level, and finish it in fact easily:
-start off with enough rockets- try to use a minimum of rockets on previous levels (you can beat the first boss without using any rockets, believe it or not, this saves around 80 rockets); when the truck starts moving in this level, I usually still have 220 or so rockets, so I can shoot them freely
-you can't shoot blow up the planes flying overhead, you can only shoot them enough to make them catch fire (don't waste more rockets on a plane that's in flames, it's already destroyed and can no longer damage the truck)
-you have to shoot down, if I recall correctly, 23 planes flying over the truck- and they always come in the same pattern: L, R, L, R, R, L, R, L, L, L, R, R, L, R, L, L, R, L, R, L, L, R, L. If you really want to pass, print that out and have someone call the directions to you, or just pause and check them off yourself.
-the most important thing is that the only way to stop the planes from damaging the truck is to shoot rockets at the planes BEFORE they appear on the screen- so if a plane is going to arrive from the left, have your sight on the far left of the screen and fire three or four rockets, this way the plane will be destroyed before it even appears on screen
-the running endoskeletons can hurt you but not the truck, so ignoring the endoskeletons will greatly increase your chances of success
Follow those instructions and you will beat this level easily. I can actually consistently beat the game deathless, and even with 100% kill rates in some levels)
@@englishwithtimusa Fantastic👏👏👏
@@englishwithtimusa This piece of advice is 100% effective.
You did a scientific-tier analysis there, i'm impressed
