"I can't fucking hear a word you're saying so if you don't like it, you can fuck off. She said...making fun of us...in fact, I could be in bed at this very moment. You like drums? I hope you like drums because it goes on like this for another half an hour, and there's another one just the same after it."
Stunning... definitely my favorite live version of this eternal hit. I wish I could go back in 1982, just to see how the audience first reacted to these electronic moroderian pulses and waves, three months before its release.
Followed them around Oz on this tour....went home saying ''You won't believe what's coming''....''You have to hear what's next...'' Blown away. Add the 'Movement' parts....best chapter in the story.
I can't understand why so many NO fans love BM from around 1986. I just don't dig the slowdown after the intro at all; the sound of the synth when the song first really gets going (1:45 in this recording) is just sublime every time they played it for about the first year or so.
Completely agree! I don't know if you've heard the live version from 11-25-1982(Most likely their first ever live performance of the song), even though its only the end part(sadly the full show wasn't recorded) its worth a listen
@@ZvZd Ha! I only just now saw this. Yes, I have that show! It's great to listen to and, if I recall correctly, it's fun how fast it is, but this has to be my favorite (off the top of my head, I think this is the third time they ever played it live and the second time they ever did it with vocals). I also love the July 1983 Hacienda performance. I really wish they'd consider opening with Blue Monday nowadays, but that will never happen, of course haha. Oh, have you heard the February 1987 Perth recording of BM? It's incredible.
4:44 they shouldve put more attention on the bass in live performances. these synths and kicks must've been insane to hear back then but they feel a bit off at times due to the shit tech the 80s gave them. the bass on the other hand is perfect and the bassline fkn shreds

One of my absolute favorite live performances of BM.
"I thought I heard you squeak" "EEK!"

Awesome live concert! And I actually like this better than the Studio
In December 8, 1982 New Zealand version of Your Silent Face, the Oberheim DMX and LinnDrum were heard.
They never used a LinnDrum.
You did an ace job of cleaning up this recording. The one I have feels slightly muddier. Terrific work. Thanks for posting this.
Awesome! This version it's really good when start completly. Thank for the upload.
