I turned off my furnace and all utilities and didn’t buy a thing for a week to do a practice run, it brought out many vulnerabilities. I suggest it to everyone
What would you say the biggest thing you learned, or realized you need to work on to better prepare? Was there something that you’d say surprised you, that you might not have thought of, had you not actually done this practice run? I think this is a great idea, and I’d love to hear more about your experience!
Here is one to think about.. Prepping is learning to live the way they lived 150 years ago. What we would call an apocalypse, the people that lived 150 years ago, would call it a normal life.
Except that their neighbors also lived that way and there wasn't a threat of a mass exodus from the nearby population centers believing that the countryside is ripe with food...good luck everyone!
I know a mom who trains her kids by watching and reading Laura Ingalls Wilder books and Little House on the Prarie shows, Anne of Avonlea, etc. (Among other ways of actual prepping, like hiking and camping with them, doing home fire drills).
@@americanskeptic138 did you see the Wyoming real estate market the summer of 2020? Home prices shot up in value over $70,000 and folks put their homes on the market with the increase just to upgrade with the sudden fortune. Things that sat on the market for 6 months to 2 years were getting bidding wars and snapped off the market within 5 days. That $70 grand spike took 3 weeks.
Not even 150 years. I was talking to my 90 year old grandmother and explained what a prepper is and what they do. She said it’s just everyday life like when she was a girl. Her mother even sent her to the post office every week with cash to exchange it for silver because she didn’t trust the stability of the currency.
Intermittent fasting is something everyone should do to prepare for a disaster as well. Better to train your body to be used to not eating all the time before you can't. If your body knows how to fast, you can still maintain your energy and have a good attitude in a crisis.
Good advice. I remember as a kid my parents had this down to an art form. Winter blizzard supplies got rotated out in the spring into camping supplies. Everything got examined in detail at least monthly during the summer (usually every weekend) this way. By the end of camping season they had replaced any needed items plus resupplied the house for a blizzard. Not a long term solution but at least we were prepared for an emergency month. The big plus is that we had great family times on those camping trips while each of us kids gained great skills.
ARMY TRICK: Unscrew the light off your flashlight. Put a whole new set of batteries in. Turn the first battery in your flashlight Backwards in your flashlight. If the batteries are Backwards in your flashlight, the batteries will not drain. Just remember your system, so you can “REPAIR IT” when you need it. Athief will think your flashlight is broken and not take it. Have a blessed day.
Here is a top tip that I have done.. Take 10 new pennies.. 1983 and newer.. File the copper off of one side of each. . Draw a circle around a dime, on a piece of tag board. To make 9 disks.. Soak them in vinegar. .. With the pennies facing the same way, put a vinegar soaked disk between each penny. And put an l e d across the stack. And wrap it up with elections tape.. The light will run 24 hours a day, for over 7 days. I think it stops because the vinegar dries out.. Although, , the zink that is on the inside was eaten badly... This idea is only for educational purposes only. . But as with all knowledge, comes power.
Hi Christa. The one thing you said that through me for a loop, was people have seeds but don't plant a garden. I plant every year and save the seeds . It takes years of trial and error to grow food.
No kidding ... that's my roommate ... organic food- even for the cat. I get it but at the cost if not grabbing a few freeze dried back packer meals ...
Last year was my wakeup call. I used to have a green thumb, but haven't even tried to plant a garden since around 2002. Last year, I bought some squash seeds and dug a small plot - grew big beautiful plants, but nothing edible. I found out just last week what I had done wrong, and the new garden (preparing now because "today isn't as good as last year, but better than tomorrow") will be about 4 times as large and have a variety. We'll see what grows and what is a learning experience.
Yea, my family thought I was nuts until 2020. Now everyone is getting on board and we are working together to fill the gaps. Husband has finally gotten on board and we have been cleaning out the junk and stockpiling the necessary items. But yes, keeping up with everything is challenging. I have started a binder, and it is helping.
Print everything out that is inside your control, use a refurbished dot matrix printer for they are economical for printing out everything. The internet will not be with us forever.
That's funny because people at work used to laugh at my husband and myself but like you this past year people started to call and ask a lot of questions and are now on board. Took them long enough but thank God they are now trying.
No no no , take all your battery out and put them in a zip lock with the item. I got night vision, night scopes, and others. Dont leave your batteries in them
If your equipment takes AA or AAA batteries, you can buy Energizer Lithium E2 batteries and leave them in the unit. They are lithium primary batteries, will never leak, and have a shelf life of 20 years. The only thing you'd need to worry about is if the device has a parasitic drain, even when off. Like something that stays on for time/date like a blood pressure cuff or meter of some type. Then you should absolutely leave the batteries out. I highly highly highly recommend the energizer lithium e2 battery for any prepper. They don't leak and last 20 years in storage. You can get them at sam's club for a decent price if you buy the 12 or 18 pack.
I live off my land out in Wyoming Country I've never heard of a woman that could live on nothing and still be happy you give me hope that my soulmate is out there you're so rare you're heaven-sent. Thank you for your inspiration. And you're preparation information.
There are women out there like her. Maybe you can get to know someone here. I've been a prepper for 18 years. I've talked to a lot of single women that are ready to survive. Hope that you find someone. Best of luck.
Amen Craig... My wife died almost 6 years ago from cancer and I miss my prepper partner. I really like Christa.... she'd be a great partner. She's a 'keeper'!
I suspect you are looking into the wrong faces or places. Try asking if they are doing work that they know they are good at and that leaves them satisfied at the end of the day. If not, ask them if they are working on the obstacles. Once that issue is settled, pay and environment don't matter much. Happy searching.
True or not, even a little prep can go a long ways. Much of so called prepping is nothing more than the wisdom that comes from experience. Things like: having candles on hand for time when the lights go out; having shovels to move snow; buying smoke alarms AND fire extinguishers; having extra groceries so you don't have to run to the store because you're out of this or that; . . . .
@@Cyb3rFck You make a pretty good point, most people will fall over dead. Unskilled people with Godless ways will turn to cannibalism and become savages almost immediately. I live on a small ranch with fresh water creek, trees, deer and seclusion. I equipped my main house with large wood heater/stove a few years back. My few living friends and I are all militarily trained and have been trading products and our skills and services for years. I'm prepped for most situations, but for what and how long? Nobody knows. Marauders will no doubt roam the area looking for prepped people. Yeah sure they'll get a fight, but I gotta go to sleep sometime. Just keep our souls prepped with strong faith, that's really the only prep we have, isn't it?
"Do the footwork and leave the outcome to God" has been my motto while being compelled to prepare for whatever may be coming. It brings me peace and I do not fear what may or may not happen in the future. Since this virus, I have learned to grow from seed, bake from scratch and both water bath can and pressure can. Being in my 60's I never thought that I would need these skills so I never learned. I don't call myself a prepper, I am more of a survivor. Thank you for this channel and including God in all you do.
Oh yes I'm so the odd duck in my family... finally FINALLY got my Mom to start stocking extra food and she got a purifying water pitcher yay! Lol... I have started watching all your videos to help me prep. In 2019 God told me i would need water. So i started canning water and writing bible verses on the jars about water. I do not know if it is for me or others but i know it will be a blessing. Now thanks to you i can step up my prep game! I am planning geocache's to plant in 4 directions from my home. Then more... for friends and others. Like little treasure chests all over. So thank you! For expanding my knowledge base and warning me also of the pitfalls! Bless you!
what a wonderful idea to put bible verses on the jars, I have seen the experiments of the most fantastic results of words of love do to food. God bless
I really like that geocache idea. I am planning on "wild" gardens, located in the interstate median (where they don't spray), to grow potatoes, carrots, peanuts, berries, etc. Places like that go unnoticed all the time. It sounds crazy, but with the widespread hunger in Venezuela, I can see the usefulness being realistic.
I found your utube channel”by accident.” You are clearly a woman full of the Spirit of God, wisdom, knowledge, common sense and kindness. God bless you as you address the issues of the day with grace and and wisdom.
Everyone please keep Heather of @The Kneady Homesteader in your prayers. She is an awesome channel, person, content creator and has suffered a tragic loss. Please visit her channel. 🙏😪❤
This is an unfortunate situation that has happened to Heather and it is a sobering thought that we as women could suddenly be without our prepping partner. Skills that they possess would be lost. Work together now to learn from each other so if we should find ourselves in this situation that we could be prepared for that scenario. Hard lesson to be thrust into suddenly.
You also have to be realistic about your capabilities and plan accordingly. I am 52, programmer my whole life and recently had some health issues. No amount of exercise is going to turn me into Rambo starting fires and hunting in the wilderness. So my primary emergency plan is to bug in and defend my castle to the death. LOL. The best way to prepare for most emergencies is to think of your home as an island. Identify all services that come into your home from the outside, so water, food, electricity, gas, police, fire, medical, communications, entertainment and sewage. Then one by one, in order of importance, replace each with one or preferably multiple redundancies.
Excellent reply! I laughed out loud - we are of the same mind. The only reason we would bug out is if our area became unsafe but we would return no matter what after a few days.
Real talk John stay in your lane. I hear so many people talking about things there going to do with zero practice or in depth knowledge. I was in the Army and 1yr in combat Southern Iraq. U.S military rolled over the 5th strongest military in 2 weeks. Hunting animals and having 20 different guns will not defeat a government backed military. My answer is the same "Holly Spirit" nothing you can do at all.
It's been about 2.5 years, but I cried at the Psalm which ends this video. Many of these principles are already my mantra, but how conforting to hear someone else explain them. Especially in a caring way. I just hit 50. After the strangely orchestrated course of life long learning; I'd always believed there would someday arise the need to employ my gifted knowledge & skill. Secretly, I'd always hoped to live through the End Times because of the inherent wickedness of humankind I'd experienced. It was my fancy to help others through it, even at the cost of my own life. Now those times are upon us, and I'm afraid of the choices I will be faced with concerning self-preservation vs. compassion. Hope is a resource which must not be lost... and this video gave me hope. Thank you.
I hear you. I prefer to be informed no matter how bad the news is. A nice compromise is to, even if just in your head, blacklist channels that seem to be more about fear mongering and who's news or predictions usually end up being false. Ignorance is bliss, but can be dangerous for a prepper.
No one is apolitical because we will always have the necessity to politically mitigate our resources towards our shared survival & diverse ideals. Politics is the cost of living amongst one another, the cost of our whole family living in one solar system
@@AlyxGlide I agree. Trying to be apolitical is a bit foolish. Everything involves politics sooner or later, and stems from it. Politics influences everything, is at the root of most social problems and will be the source of much havoc if things go South. You will need to know who to trust, and that has everything to do with politics. It's just a fact of life, but I can see being turned off by it if you disagree with the politics of the person you're learning from. No one complains about any politics they agree with, and they usually don't even call it "politics" when they agree, just "facts". The whole reason politics can be so offensive is because it is behind everything important in our lives. If it wasn't, we wouldn't be so sensitive to it, or care one way or the other whether someone mentioned it or not. But it set's people off precisely because it makes so much difference to them.
Beans, bullets, bandaids and beer = food, security, medical and vices. Test ALL your preps, love your content and your local to me as well, so your foraging videos are well received!
You can be addicted to chewing gum! This is a big one to think about. Lots of great points here! Write out your recipes, don't rely on the internet or electronic files for them.....
I write all my recipes by hand. I have offered to print them out for my children but all five wanted them in my hand writing. It’s hard work but I know it will be appreciated.
I did a binder one Christmas for my four brothers. I filled it with old pictures I had, sometimes you don't stop to think they don't have the same pics, I put recipes of moms from growing up since we'd lost her then we were all teens .. things like that.. I've been wanting to do a journal of things happening in the world since it's so crazy, our grandchildren may only get a glimpse we leave them with that is truthfully correct. I've written a few things down to work on and one is collecting lists of storage items w/dates and location. Plus recipes for any stored items plus I'm dehydrating things to add to my 25yr. Stuff so it tastes better and has more nutrition.
I have developed a library of how tos and a stocked many kinds of resources, including tools. I know and practice how to use them. One thing though, I don’t like being cold !
Consider conditioning yourself to live without air conditioning in climates of 95 deg. or more. First, stay hydrated. Second, mistake is the overuse of ice. Third, vent your home when the outside air is dry, and seal it when the outside air is humid, regardless of temperature. Forth, use microwave or toaster ovens as much as possible. Fifth, get work done early in the morning or late in the evening.
Thank you for addressing the narcissistic prepper... You are such a blessing to this community with all that you share. Truth and grace is what we should be striving for. May the Lord continue to bless all that see and hear!
I live in Texas and when the storm hit I woke up that morning realizing I had not prepared to cook inside. So I made a burner out of hand sanitizer and was OK. Plus we are expecting tornados soon so I have decided the food into different rooms.
Lots of ways to cook inside! Grab the two-packs of sterno (about $5) from the camping department in stores. Small cobblestones are about 75¢ - I have four for two locations. You can just pull a rack from the oven and prop it on the cobblestones with the sterno cans acting as burners 🙂. The other four are to elevate a camping grill over a fire in the fireplace, or if you have a hearth, you can use coals and put pots/pans/cast iron on them 🤗. I'd you tripod cast iron cookware with flat lids (or just flat rimmed lids) you can even bake💖.
@@mulle5784 Sterno can be purchased in larger quantities in places like Sam’s Club in the area where they sell buffet pans, napkins, & food prep items.
@@drdianneLc A person can use cooking oil for fuel. Or gulf wax ( paraffin ) , roll corogated card board, and stuff it in a tuna can, and pour melted wax in the can. I learned to do that at boys camp, when I was 8 years old. And we used a V8 can for a stove to put it in. ( modified with a door and vents ) Haven't looked, but I will guess that there are examples on yt. I just looked,, it is called a HOBO STOVE.
What a profoundly important message! Everyone should hear it! THANK YOU, Christa, for this! While I’m not well versed in scripture, I remember something my Dad taught me... “The LORD helps those that help themselves”. Thank you again for all your videos that impart knowledge to us. I find that even us old (80) dogs can learn new tricks! Blessings, ...
At an older age what I've done is full up a good sturdy luggage with wheels that can be pulled if you absolutely have no choice but to leave. Add a few extra bags to that, like a sleeping bag.
@@jules-marcdavis6843 and some beat up clothing to look like a poor old geezer. A beat up wool overcoat is ideal. Coat and blanket combined in one and long enough to conceal most weapons. Cheap at Goodwill in the summer, if you don’t have one.
My husband and I finally had a serious discussion about living without electricity, I suggested we spend a weekend with all breakers tripped and see how we do. He was not interested but it made him think about what could happen. I think we are dangerous preppers!!
Other scary Preppers: The "Lone Wolf", who preps (lightly) only for himself, believing he can simply grab a knife and bow and bug out to the woods and live off the land alone (I fear the day he discovers he can't, as he will be starved, weather-exposed, and possibly injured), and "AmmoMan", who believes all he needs is *more and more* guns and ammo, and can come "take your stuff" whenever he needs to. They scare me.
That's why I work hard on community building. To know those who live closest to me and know that I will draw on their strengths and balance their weakness with what others can provide.
A go bag should include a large, heavy preferably, trash/leaf bag with pull strings. Ir can be used as a raincoat or personal tent in emergencies. Cut the bottom so the corner acts as the head cover. If it’s a shelter you can stuff with leaves for insulation in the cold if needed and pull the bottom strings to to seal you in.
Krista, several years ago I found your channel and am ever so thankful! I watched that video then looked at you older ones...were I found "The Value of Simplifying BEFORE Stockpiling"! I have carried this forward into today's prepping and really into my everyday life! Thank you for all you do and have done. Love and hugs.
I'm guilty, when I try to inform my family of worldly issues and prepping they brush me off and not on the same page. I now don't mention things anymore I just prep what I might need and use. I no longer worry about trying to prep for my very large family who choose not to do anything even though they have money. I have main preps and prep bags to go I'm not stressing over it anymore.
Yes! Some of my family thinks we are crazy. They don't save anything or prepare for anything. I don't bother trying to get them to understand anymore either.
I feel you. The most painful part is the "they have money" bit, in fact, more than you do. Yet they rather waste it on entertainment and frills, instead of prepping..
I have enjoyed your videos and my knowledge has been increase by watching them. You are through and thoughtful in your planning and your choice of words. I have been prepping for years, but with your series I have learned a new homestead type of prepping however, I mostly enjoy that you are a full women of God and you share your faith, in most of your series. Keep sharing the Good News. Blessings Bill
all sound advise and if we are honest we have all done this before at sometime. Just bare it in mind and try to plan for it and apply this advice thanks
Thanks for your humility and care for others. I finally filled up my 55 gallon water barrel after the Texas disaster. Working on decluttering and simplifying so I can store more food and supplies. Working on getting them more organized and not so scattered randomly throughout the house and garage. While watching I went and replaced the batteries in the flashlight I keep at the back door to take my dog out at night, I noticed for weeks the batteries were so low it wasn’t useful. I definitely need to work on my fitness. Great tips for prepping on a budget, I remember years ago I started saving by taking only $5 per paycheck. Prepper Princess is a great resource for prepping on a budget and living well, by choice, under the poverty line even if you make more money than that.
If you’re realistic, it will take many years and a financial fortune to do that...and you still won’t be prepared for it. The aftermath of a major EMP attack is barely survivable at best regardless of what you do because you basically have to be able to recreate your world. Seems to me, it’s wiser to take smaller bites. Plan for the disasters that are likely or common in your area, then begin to expand to prep for other things. EMP/nuclear war is apocalyptic. Optimistically, it’s barely survivable. Realistically, it’s not survivable. Even the BEST prepared wouldn’t last 4 years post-apocalypse. “For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now-and never to be equaled again. “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.” Matthew 24:21-22 NIV
@@totallyfrozen look up the carrington event. Basically a global emp caused by solar activity, that last happened when our use of electrical systems was very limited. Another similar event could happen at any time.
THISS is an EXCELLENT video!! Most of my family and myself fall into the "don't do____" and breaking in the hiking boots w hiking socks (i didnt know!) is a biggie for me. Also, in our preps - what we DO have - i have been including " not just us" (3 core family members) supplies,.. Your video about the metal trash can as a farady cage is BRILLIANT! And much cheaper, but less moblie, than the faraday packets, sleeves, envelopes. I am really learning a LOT. Thank you so much for doing these, from Pennsylvania 👍👍💗💗🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
Tip for planning with children...When my son was 2 we got hit by 3 hurricanes in less than 2 weeks. Well 2 hurricanes but 3 storms. Katrina, then Wilma and Katrina came back and hit us again. Before Each storm I wrote in sharpie marker on his back his name, birthday, allergies, my name, address, phone number, and my parents info who live in another state. Just in case we got separated somehow.
This is possibly the best video I have seen you do. I would add: learn your lesson. If your life failed, and you had to run to someone else to protect you, but yet afterword you go back to the same life and way of thinking. What can be done for you?
I love that your videos are so informative for people that are actually prepping. It’s not just surface level preparing its real and helpful for those of us that have been at this a while.
Yes, it was neither Joseph's personal insight nor was it his brother's prepping back in Judea that saved them. What happened in Judea will happen again. Never say "never again". So when next time comes which WILL (and will come with no warning like 911 ALL OF A SUDDEN), don't worry about anything -- not even getting your coat. Worry about nothing but getting out of Judea. Everything will be prepared for you.
Yes! I’ve found quite a lot of references in the Bible to prepping. Even Jesus, Himself, encouraged the preparedness mentality. ““Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” Matthew 25:1-13 ESV
I keep the grocery adds, filler paper from shipments, old mail paper I just smooth them out for a large tote. I think they would come in handy for wrapping up dry goods In canning jars of we get earthquakes they will need a protection. then to cover/insulation for windows or whatever. I will use it for fire 🔥 starting also. Save your dryer lint and use it like cotton balls with vaseline in a tin for fire starting.. one less thing to buy at the dollar store.
It is good ! (i reckon) . That pic on the vid of a go bag all nicely organised on the car seat head rest, is kind of advertising. Heaps of "junk" / CAMOUFLAGE that detracts interest and conceals resources, is a valid game plan and a humble tactic.
I have been watching some of your videos over the last couple of weeks and they are such a blessing. This weekend I reorganized, thinned out, upgraded my supplies so now I won't have to paw through a jumbled mess! I have finally got it that I shop my pantry rather than the pantry is it's own isolated entity. And so much more. Thank you and God Bless!
Good points and I hope people are listening to you. Remember the motto, “one is none, two is one, three is done”, when gathering preps. And just because you have “stuff” stashed away, but don’t know how to use them, doesn’t mean you’re prepared. Quality items are best, toss the rest. I’ve covered just about every one of these points in the content on my channel, and it is refreshing to see you covering the same topics. Beautiful setting behind you, and the lighting is awesome. God bless.
Yep I can confirm that one can lives under the 'poverty' line and still eating good quality foods. I would go as far as get used to fasting ... while fasting put some salt into your water, you will be amazes
@@SirenaSpades I agree. People are fasting bcuz they are dying from starvation, could be our very neighbor. Fasting for me gives me clarity. I had to fast for surgery and it was amazing. Why put water and salt? I will try it but again.... what does it do?
too true. I recently discovered the same thing. we had a power outage. my emergency lights packed away in a box in back room, batteries for them somewhere else. Portable cooker out in the garage and the sterno not with it, it was in a box somewhere else. Pan for the stove in another box out in the garage. I have since packed all together in 1 tote to get to quickly. Regrouping and reorganizing my preps.
I would look into/research carrying gasoline in a car. Especially, if your battery is in the back, near or in the trunk like many models. Can be very dangerous.
Do not carry gasoline cans in your car trunk daily. It should be only a rate instance. Like already SHTF. Perhaps on long road trips. If you have a truck then easier and safer to have one in the truck bed.
if you lack time or organization: Create a pair of seasonal get-home backs: one for summer and one for cooler or cold weather. This way if there is an emegency you can grap a bag that is read to go. Alternatively Create a module inserts for your Get-Home bag. This could include those compressible clothing bags: one for Summer wear, and one for winter wear, Than you can just swap the appropriate items quickly. If you go with the two get-home bag system, be sure to mark them so you don't accidentally grab the wrong bag in an emergency.
Wow- I'm a single mom trying to be prepared as much as possible, have watched dozens of prep videos, some what equipped and have not come across such a transparent prepped video. Thank you JESUS! Bless this dear one whom delivered this message and all on this thread and their families ❤️🙏☀️
I discovered something similar with my short term food pantry. Many of the cans and jars were a year or two past the "best use by" date and despite what some people have been saying about regular canned goods lasting for years past their date -- some of my cans were leaking or bulging despite being stored in a cool, dry pantry. So, my new rule is now we only buy enough regular canned goods and boxed dry foods from the supermarket to use within a month or so. And I have been removing those old canned goods and filling the shelves with #10 cans and Mylar pouches of dry food from my long-term food storage. The best thing about freeze-dried or dehydrated food packaged for long-term storage is I can store it and forget about it for ten to twenty years and it will be there and be edible when I need it in an emergency. And freezing temperatures will not harm it. No more rotating food or discovering a leaky can of spoiled food. I am done with that.
The more videos I see from you the more It becomes clear that you are very dedicated and conscious about what you are doing and what you want to communicate. On top of it you are a very refined and natural woman and the presentation of what you want to convey is convincing and is life supporting. All blessings !!!
This video is like a course! I love your honesty about the flaws you found in your system. Testing and dry runs are necessary, as is practice. That's why military survival training works, they work the body and mind over and over until things are second nature. Subscribed!
Thank you for the awareness humbleness I am in the process of relocating and I see the holes in my preps. Moving gives you a clean slate to check all your things Thanks! Message received
Thanks so much for this video! It made me think. I'm "elderly", tho I don't like the word I do have to be realistic about how much I will be able to do should I need to flee my home in an emergency. I've been prepping for staying in my apartment, limited with space inside and a very small space outside for having a meaningful garden. Your videos are so helpful! 🤗
Excellent advice! May I suggest that (on the way to resistance training ... ), folks could try the 11 minute per day system developed for the Canadian Air Force known as "5BX". Great, gradual way to tone up and prep for heavier routines. Thanks for the tips! God Bless
As a very sedentary 77 year old, I have been wanting to do better. Thank you for the Canadian Air Force information. I think I can do that! I MUST do that.
My gas is fresh generator just serviced. Just finished a week long ice storm w/o power. Ran the gen set for 6 days. I'm not that prepper. Nice try but no one can prep well enough for everything.
Loved the video. Thank you. You are right. We get comfortable and don’t keep stuff in our trucks/cars like we should. I’m going through my bug out bad and replacing my 72 hour food kit from 10 years ago.
I’ve recently come to realize that all of my coworkers are surprised and envious that I have moved completely off grid for the past two years. I didn’t know that so many people around me are really aware of what’s going on and are trying to go off grid.
I’m going to add in one more thing, do not buy stuff from the dollar store thinking that you’re getting a deal... SHOP AROUND. Thinking that a 1 lb bag of rice for a dollar is a good deal? Nope. I can get a 41lb bag for $25, that’s $0.61 per pound.
This is really good advice. I have seeds stored, a multi tool I cannot open b/c I’m not strong enough, a propane heater I don’t know how to use...the list goes on...thank you!
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Thank you Ma'am! Unfamiliar with you until this post. Thank you for sharing your insight. Also, thanks for the "post script" I appreciate folks who will share their faith.
Once again I love your video's !! Each and everyone of them teach you to think and to learn very important skills that may one day save our lives !! Thank you !!!
One of the most dangerous are the round-toits. Yes, they agree to prepping, but so much is put off until they can get around to it. Used to be a family joke. Someone even gave my mom a circular potholder that was labelled "I finally found my round-tuit."
I started out with cheap stuff, because it's all I could manage and I have now been slowly replacing each item with good quality stuff. It does take time, I almost never have spare money. But when I do that's exactly where it goes. As for allergies, they can't be helped and the last thing you need is to be sick from food. I prepare only with what I can eat and work on what I can scavenge, hunt and forage. Fitness is a problem. I need to work on that alot amd put my preps in the best places for them. These are great thoughts and ideas snd many I am guilty of too. We are always learning and improving.
Don't waste that gas. Put a can of it in your gas tank, before you fill up. Each time. Renew the propellant in your pepper spray. All it takes is a tire valve stem and an air compressor. As someone else said, put the batteries in a bag with the radio, the flashlight, etc. Don't leave them in them. Especially those copper top ones. Every single flashlight, radio, etc that I have ever had ruined by a leaking battery, has been a coppertop battery.
I had to chuckle when you mentioned the garden, for I am guilty. I have the heirloom seeds, but I have never had a garden myself. Never mind that I have NEVER saved a seed in my life. a saying that I am prone to throwing around is that "if you wait until you NEED a skill to aquire that skill, it is too late." I do enjoy learning new things and am a voracious consumer of knowledge for things that interest me. Yet how much of what I THINK I know is untested and so merely theoretical. You are a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul with the heart of a teacher. And I am helplessly in love. Don't worry, I'm not THAT guy.
I turned off my furnace and all utilities and didn’t buy a thing for a week to do a practice run, it brought out many vulnerabilities. I suggest it to everyone
Training- good idea!
Great thinking Montag Muller!
In Texas, a lot of people already went through a dry run.
That’s a great idea. I’d do it if I didn’t have a family. My wife would never go for that.
True
Absolutely a must as part of prep!!!
...and even so, for better healthy living!!
This is a good pearl of wisdom.
Thanks for that I also fast for 3 days a least ones a year.
Agree
I do this, I also leave the heating off when it drops in temp so my body gets used to the cold .
Wise thinking
ARMY TRICK: Unscrew the light off your flashlight. Put a whole new set of batteries in. Turn the first battery in your flashlight Backwards in your flashlight. If the batteries are Backwards in your flashlight, the batteries will not drain. Just remember your system, so you can “REPAIR IT” when you need it. Athief will think your flashlight is broken and not take it. Have a blessed day.
Does that stop them going all fuzzy too? ☺️
This idea is only for educational purposes only. .
But as with all knowledge, comes power.
another Army trick: Ranger cookies out of coffee creamer, sugar, and crushed crackers ;)
I do this it's just logical
bitchin', thanks!
Hi Christa. The one thing you said that through me for a loop, was people have seeds but don't plant a garden. I plant every year and save the seeds . It takes years of trial and error to grow food.
So true, and even harder now the seasons are out of whack.
Totally! It takes skill, experience, and practice to grow the food, to use it, and to preserve it.
No kidding ... that's my roommate ... organic food- even for the cat.
I get it but at the cost if not grabbing a few freeze dried back packer meals ...
Absolutely! I have "prepping" buddy that boasts he has enough seeds to plabt for 10 years but, hasn't grown anything since he was a kid in 4H....🤔???
My husband is waking up too! Sadly, not the whole family...yet;)
Yup haha, suddenly were the ones getting all kinds of questions. Everyone I know "soooo whered you get that freeze dryer?"
Wish I could find a girl like you!
Yes, and if at all possible store your batteries adjacent to your flashlights, radios, etc.
What about moisture, inside of plastic?
@@mspat8195 you know those little packs that you find in the corner of your purse? They work:)
Fire dept say don't store them in bags, they have responded to fires from that!
Best thing, prep for others beyond yourself....humility

There are more of us then you know, lol.
You have to attract a woman if you want one. Have you prepared to do that?
I suspect you are looking into the wrong faces or places. Try asking if they are doing work that they know they are good at and that leaves them satisfied at the end of the day. If not, ask them if they are working on the obstacles. Once that issue is settled, pay and environment don't matter much. Happy searching.
Being a survivalist is a lifestyle, not a technic that most r not ready to transition too.
True or not, even a little prep can go a long ways.
Much of so called prepping is nothing more than the wisdom that comes from experience. Things like: having candles on hand for time when the lights go out; having shovels to move snow; buying smoke alarms AND fire extinguishers; having extra groceries so you don't have to run to the store because you're out of this or that; . . . .
Survival is a human instinct, not a lifestyle. Stop being a narcissistic prepper. Besides, if all your stuff was taken, what would you do then?
Nice to have someone with a voice of reason and wisdom. But most of all, giving God glory!
God bless ya'll real good 👍
Sweet!
You call this reason?
More like utopian propaganda.
But are you wearing a sheeple mask? If so.... then you will hypothetically get loaded on the proverbial train car.
I do likewise. We take care of what we can control, leave the rest to God. I say, “Pray, hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.”
I am also in my 60's and appreciate your channel. PS I made Lemon-Kumquat Honey Tea based on your Citron Tea recipe. Thank you!
I've late 60s and still prepping even though the family thinks I'm crazy. The hubby says people will just kill me for the food and shelter.
Yes! The wisdom of YHWH GOD guards our life and health!! 🌿🕊
What’s a geocache? Thx 🙏
Wow that's so thoughtful!
Love the Geocaching idea! I saw an episode of NCIS where the star had prepped stashes throughout the city. Your idea is so practical.
I found your utube channel”by accident.” You are clearly a woman full of the Spirit of God, wisdom, knowledge, common sense and kindness. God bless you as you address the issues of the day with grace and and wisdom.

She has a go fund me too. Bless her and her family 💖

🙏
I'm 66 and in the same place as you are. So here I am and here I will stay.
You're the first individual I've seen call it how it is. I commented up top on this very issue. Lol. Live strong... live well. 👍
Prepare so when the sirens sound... and no one responds. Eventually, Police, Fire, EMS will choose their families to protect.

Amen brother!
But shes got me terrified. What a list of things I need to do.
I know, these videos are as relaxing as they are informing.
Thank you.

This talk was a !ong time coming and very necessary .thank you for the reality check.complacancy is dangerous.God bless you.
I have stopped watching the news and so many prepping videos have gone to politics. Thanks for your words of wisdom. God bless you always....
I hear you. I prefer to be informed no matter how bad the news is. A nice compromise is to, even if just in your head, blacklist channels that seem to be more about fear mongering and who's news or predictions usually end up being false. Ignorance is bliss, but can be dangerous for a prepper.
Amen 🙏
No one is apolitical because we will always have the necessity to politically mitigate our resources towards our shared survival & diverse ideals. Politics is the cost of living amongst one another, the cost of our whole family living in one solar system
Most of the news here has turned into propaganda so when we watch the news it’s on RUclips or Rumble.

My microwave broke a year ago.. along with my some other kitchen appliances, I've done without ok.
Sixth, get used to the smell of sweat.

I live in Texas and when the storm hit I woke up that morning realizing I had not prepared to cook inside. So I made a burner out of hand sanitizer and was OK. Plus we are expecting tornados soon so I have decided the food into different rooms.
Burner out of hand sanitizer?? Please explain!

Other scary Preppers:
The "Lone Wolf", who preps (lightly) only for himself, believing he can simply grab a knife and bow and bug out to the woods and live off the land alone (I fear the day he discovers he can't, as he will be starved, weather-exposed, and possibly injured), and "AmmoMan", who believes all he needs is *more and more* guns and ammo, and can come "take your stuff" whenever he needs to. They scare me.
I think there are “ammo man” preppers and “ammo man” non-preppers, aka thieves. Whether they planned ahead for it or not, they’ll come to rob you.
That's why I work hard on community building. To know those who live closest to me and know that I will draw on their strengths and balance their weakness with what others can provide.
Even the poorest-of-the-poor can be rich with knowledge.
Knowledge trumps tools 80% of the time.
Exactly! All the tools without skills😕
Light weight, easy to store, and mostly thief proof.
And practiced knowledge is 500% better than armchair knowledge.
55 gallon contractor bags are a better version of this, but a regular trash bag is very useful.

Prepper Princess is a great resource for prepping on a budget and living well, by choice, under the poverty line even if you make more money than that.
if you plan for an EMP, that should help with all of the others.
“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.”

That huge dark spot is earth facing. Know how to live as before electricity. Pray
Thank you for bringing a double check for us all. I am guilty in many and corrected tonight. Thank you for sharing and be safe in Jesus's Name.
Thanks for sharing. I started preparing last year and decide to start a channel a month ago to share my journey and help others. Thanks for all you do
A wonderfully informed presentation. Pure common sense!! Very refreshing and, God knows, timely!!!
Great perspectives, well presented and beautiful setting.
Amen, Thank You my Dear Sister in Christ... I so very much enjoy coming home to your channel , Godly Wisdom..........!
The Egyptian, as directed by Joseph, built grain storage and filled them with enough grains to prepare for the 7 years of famine to come.
Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
Matthew 25:1-13 ESV

I would love to meet someone like you Miss. Super wow, so beautiful. Thank you... much love...
I have enough trash in my truck to start a fire but that’s not necessarily a good thing.😑
🤣😉👍
I keep the grocery adds, filler paper from shipments, old mail paper I just smooth them out for a large tote. I think they would come in handy for wrapping up dry goods In canning jars of we get earthquakes they will need a protection. then to cover/insulation for windows or whatever. I will use it for fire 🔥 starting also. Save your dryer lint and use it like cotton balls with vaseline in a tin for fire starting.. one less thing to buy at the dollar store.
lol
Your Intentional Practical Wisdom is Priceless, While Your Projective Nurturing Resonance Is a Warm Cup Of Therapy!☕🌈🏞🌌
Great advice.
I must add that table salt is toxic, add Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt.
💞~👵
Good idea
Fasting.. another fad. True poverty stricken people don't fast. People with plenty of food experiment with it because they haven't been without.
Yep.
Illegal in many states.
Very dangerous to keep gas in a vehicle. Don't do it.
Do not carry gasoline cans in your car trunk daily. It should be only a rate instance. Like already SHTF. Perhaps on long road trips.
If you have a truck then easier and safer to have one in the truck bed.
EXCELLENT...EXCELLENT VIDEO !!!!
I NEEDED THE REMINDER !!!
THANKS KRISTA !!!
if you lack time or organization: Create a pair of seasonal get-home backs: one for summer and one for cooler or cold weather.
Freeze dry or dehydrated food should be stored with one more safeguard put it in glass jars
Freezing 🥶 won't harm it?
The more videos I see from you the more It becomes clear that you are very dedicated and conscious about what you are doing and what you want to communicate. On top of it you are a very refined and natural woman and the presentation of what you want to convey is convincing and is life supporting.
All blessings !!!
I have my Bakers Creek Seeds and I have a HUGE garden every year. I dry and can all the food that I am able.
This video is like a course! I love your honesty about the flaws you found in your system. Testing and dry runs are necessary, as is practice. That's why military survival training works, they work the body and mind over and over until things are second nature. Subscribed!
Thank you. Guilty on some accounts. Thank you for the reminder. When I checked my bug out bag months ago the food inside was 8 years old.
I love the Psalms too ! Thank you for all your sage advice !
This video is loaded with great tips. And your surroundings is beautiful.
Thank you for the awareness humbleness
I am in the process of relocating and I see the holes in my preps. Moving gives you a clean slate to check all your things
Thanks! Message received
Thank you, Christa.
Thankyou so much for the wake up call. I definitely will take a hard look at our plan and adjust.
Beautiful background setting. Thanks for the videos. ❤
Thanks for watching! :)
What a fantastic channel filled with great info and scripture. God bless!
Strengthen yourself in the Lord He promised to take care of His people . Look up your redemption is near .
I’ve recently come to realize that all of my coworkers are surprised and envious that I have moved completely off grid for the past two years. I didn’t know that so many people around me are really aware of what’s going on and are trying to go off grid.
Isn't it amazing how many will think you are crazy but also be jealous at the same time? It sounds like you are doing something right!
Buying in bulk is usually cheaper. Although, if all you have is a dollar, at least you can some rice as opposed to none.
You are such an awesome woman! Great mindset and beautiful..just amazing. Thank you for your time and info
Preventative maintenance
This sounds like verses from the book of proverbs.....
Thank you Ma'am! Unfamiliar with you until this post. Thank you for sharing your insight. Also, thanks for the "post script" I appreciate folks who will share their faith.
I thought about all these things and it scared me but good advice
Excellent - put the gas can in the tank before filling up, then fill can again
No stabilizer needed! Perfect
Do u know how long BBQ grill propane tanks keep? No stabilizer in them.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah Propane is fine for long periods of time. Don't even worry about it.
Don't worry, I'm not THAT guy.
i kinda pride myself on just how dangerous i can be in my preparedness.... oh, you're talkin about bad prepping lol
