Formal or informal? If informal then WHERE CAN I FIND IT? is it possible to learn korean through Duolingo? Ik that's a lot ot ask but would be grateful ❤ (first)
Grammar is such a vast topic that it'd honestly have to be a realllyyy long series, but I totally will try to cover it eventually !! When it comes to finding vocabulary, naver dictionary is the best source by far. Duolingo is alright, it's not the best, it's not the worst tbh.
Glad to see you back!. Something I haven’t seen anybody do, it is a series about (or maybe I haven’t seen it) Korean consonant adjustments. There are at least 9 adjustments depending on how you organize it, and if you go by letter it’s probably +30. This phonetic adjustment doesn’t happen in English and it’s critical for Korean pronunciation, and that’s the whole reason why romanization doesn’t work, because in Korean the syllable block has one sound but the word might have a different sound. For example “forward nasalization for ㅂ/ㅁ ex “감사합니다 = [감삼니다 o 감사함니다]“ forward nasalization of the ㄱ (group)/ ㅁ example 먹는 [멍는], fortis for ㅅ (group)/ㅎ example 못 해요 [모때어]. It made me so confused as a beginner hearing one thing and seeing another. What makes it worst for me is that when you hear a Korean online pronouncing slowly the word syllable by syllable you hear one thing, then they repeat the word automatically doing the adjustments, and I was like “wait a minute, those are completely different sounds. I know we still need to practice listening because many sino-korean words have their own individual sound, but it has helped my brain to understand what’s happening and to better mimic what I’m hearing. I hope you continue making videos, they are all very nice and easy to follow.
Totally something i want to cover towards the end of this series! Its a very vast topic though, like you said, theres so many different adjustments, but lets see how it goes 🤞

I'm still fairly new to Korean, but after spending some time familiarizing myself with Hangul, I'm already at the point where I always try to reference or look it up directly instead of relying on romanization, especially for the sake of pronunciation. Many words end up being rewritten several different ways based on different romanization standards, and on top of that, as an english speaker, the roman alphabet leads to another layer of multiple possible pronunciations. When possible, it's always easier, faster, and accurate to check the "source material."
Ive seen some of his RUclips content and its really good, but i cant 100% vouch for the textbooks since I’ve never used them myself. I think they’d be worth checking out, though.
I’ve been learning for a while and I still struggle to differentiate 오 and 어 lol, I’ve had Korean friends IRL show me the difference and lowkey, it’s still HARD

I recommend asking ChatGPT but they can’t always be right so I also recommend checking it with a Korean teacher/ RUclipsr or someone you know!
