Beautiful area. In September we stayed at the Honey Bear RV Resort a bit north, which we loved. Took in a day trip up the Rogue River with Jerry's Jet Boats. Best $50 we've spent in a long time. Great fun! Thanks for the re-visit.
Just finish a month long road trip to Route 66, up to Page Arizona and a few days at Kanab and St George Utah. Even on our way home we were planning our next road trip up the California coast to Gold Beach. Taking our great grandson this time to ride the jet boat up the Rouge River. Our grands sons loved it, now it's time to take great grandkids. We will be trying to get into Turtle Rock Beach this time.
Ray, I really enjoy your travel logs........ but , the mods are a really big help. Started to add things before my Cougar was a year old. Then.......off to Alaska!!
I had no idea Angie could still run! Nice! My sister had a beagle that could outrun any dog at the off leash park. Until one day, there was a border collie at the park. That collie herded that beagle to a standstill. Time after time the beagle would try to get the upper hand, to no avail. That beagle was not a happy camper. Enjoy your winter down south. Looks like we've got another crappy one coming our way again this year. Cheers from southeast B.C.
Yeah, she is still game for a run on the beach, though she sometimes pays for it the next day if she goes overboard. Just like her owner. ;) Cheers! Ray
Thanks for the recommendation! Just stayed there back on July 29 for 6 nights. Splurged and got an RV site with deck and hot tub! Will stay there again for sure!
Hi Ray. What a beautiful place. So nice to see you on your way south for another winter but so jealous as I don't get to head south until February 17th...and only get 5 weeks in Florida this year. Happy travels, eh!
Hi Folks, Will you be around Quartzsite in January? I hope to attend the RTR and Escapees gathering and would enjoy meeting you if you will be around the area!!!
Not right in Quartzsite, but we are hoping to camp again out about 1/2 hour to the south in the Kofa NWR. Probably be there in early/mid-January before we head east later in the month for a week at Lost Dutchman State Park near Phoenix. Cheers!
Sounds good... I know the area!!! I've never been there but I have seen it on other videos!!! I'm a new RVer and have a lot to learn. I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from them, it appears you like staying in the same types of places I hope to find. If it's OK with you I will send you a message when I get to Quartzsite and maybe maybe we could set up a time to meet. Safe Travels !!!
Wow, I haven't been down there to explore like that. Thank you! I love the rocky wavy Oregon coast. Close enough to spend the gas money and go for a drive. I think I now have a plan for Friday. ;)
Ray love your videos! You should make a pit stop at Harris beach in Brookings Oregon on the way to California! There are squirrels in the Burrows around the beach that you can hand feed peanuts to and the seagulls will come right up to you for food also! Amazing and Majestic!
State of Oregon eh? That's the state where gravity falls took place, it's a animated show about a fictional town of the same name where paranormal activity happen, check it out Ray.
We used to run a store called Confusion Hill and everyone told us Gravity Falls had a lot to do with THAT area. I can say it was very mystical with massive triple and double rainbows across the slough. One thing about the Oregon coast.. LOTS of rainbows! I love the natural awesome beauty.
Take more of which website you watch it off of ray, watchcartoonsonline.com should have the unmodified version of the entire show, keep in mind also, I should have mentioned it in my original post, the show gets a little into the idea of horror film style at times, not saying you shouldn't watch it ray, just beware if your that type of person who gets scared on the idea of horror film's.
The Oregon Coast is so beautiful and I can't wait to see more of it....hopefully next summer! I think you mentioned that your wife is a photographer and I was wondering what her favorite lens is for taking photos along the Oregon Coast?
Yes, here is her blog - annemckinnell.com/blog/ Depends on the shot, usually, she is using her 18-55 because a lot of the shots are of the rock formations. A wide angle would make them look small. But sometimes the wide angle is good if there is a close subject in the foreground. All of my photos in the video are with my Sony mirrorless NEX5 18-50 kit lens. Cheers! Ray
No too cold, west coast waters are always fairly chilly, most surfers use a wetsuit. Here is a good site for checking water temps, currently in Gold Beach its 52F - www.tides4fishing.com/us/oregon/wedderburn-gold-beach
Michigander here. Growing up, I thought California ocean water was warm since all the famous beaches. Gotta be on the gulf or Atlantic. All about the currents.
Thanks. I'm happy to report Big Blue is feeling better back on the road. Turned out to be a bad mechanical fuel pump aka lift pump. Good news as it was only around $250 total to repair and they did it next day. Thanks to Willits Tire Center for the towing job and repair!

Thanks, will keep that in mind for the return journey. Cheers!
This is a place where I would like to go. The Pacific NW is a great gaping hole in my states map.
Well worth a visit!

Cool, will have to check it out on RUclips when I get some decent free bandwidth. Cheers! Ray
