I love these shows to death. But it blows my mind just how little the french (or these french) documentarists understand about things. Such as the diesel fuel. There's been more than one of these shows where the french narrator's (this is an english translation of the original french narrator for those that don't know) have commented about danger of fuels. First of it's the fumes that catch fire and explode in the event of explosive fuels not the liquids. The flame and the cigarettes' themselves can't ignite the liquid no matter how hard they try. Second One of the major advantages and disadvantages of diesel engines and diesel fuel is that diesel fuel is non explosive, unlike gasoline, diesel is similar to lamp oil, it needs something else just to catch fire and it is non explosive. Lamp oil for instance wont catch fire at al until you put a wick in it. Then the wick will catch fire but at no time even when the wick is floating on top of the oil the oil will not explode the wick will just happily sit there and burn away. There's one episode talking about a diesel fuel tank falling off the truck and exploding into a raging inferno killing everyone... The narrator should watch some science movies instead of the science fiction movies they clearly are watching. =)
