Ive been working on pull ups since the beginning of my weight loss and fitness journey. I know I wont be able to do a full one for a long long time due to how overweight I am, but Im working on building up that strength anyways. I started back in January and was at my highest weight at 325lbs - 5'10". I couldn't even hold onto the bar, I just immediately would fall off. Now, at 257lbs, I'm able to hang anywhere from 10 to 20 seconds depending on if it's a good day or not, and that is absolutely mind blowing to me! I can't wait until the day I can do a full pull up, and these progressions are going to help a ton! Thank you so much!

@@Nebulousss unfortunately not, I've regressed a bit, but I've accepted the fact that these kinds of endeavors arent exactly linear and I cant wait to get back to it :)
To be specific, I've been hovering around the low 260s for months now and have kinda fallen off the exercise wagon. Circumstances made things difficult, but those are changing soon so I am hopeful 😊

I learned to do a pull-up after about 1.5 months of training in our local park, after the city installed outdoor fitness equipment there. I'm always there with my kids, and spent the first month staring suspiciously at the pull up bars from the playground before I got up the courage to give it a go. I spent most of my training doing lots of letting myself down in progressively more controlled ways.

Hello from Taiwan. I I like exercise in the park and I do not like to go to the gym and I am setting myself a goal of pulling myself up on the bar one day as you did.
I am on the stage of being able to pull myself up maybe 1mm. Haha!
I really like your idea of using own body weight for weight training because then you are free to exercise anytime anywhere. Thank you.

Hi, Lucy. Fab video. I can see you’ve got yourself a decent squat rack with pull-up bar. Where did you source it from? I tried Amazon UK but most options look either too flimsy or way over the top (the so called ‘power rigs’). Also, most stand alone pull-up or dip stations only have a fixed-height bar which is hardly suitable for my 2.4 m ceilings. Any suggestions?
