    Awesome video mate! I'm still confused with wiring of the the extra resistor and capacitor additions. But I'm gonna get onto this.

      Thx man , I'm glad you liked it ! The extras (res/cap) are part of the " fat wah" mod . Just follow the pics that are in the description and you shouldn't have a problem . If you still can't make it work let me know and I'll make a more detailed video about it . Btw I'm in a process of building my first Fuzz pedal and soon I'll be uploading the tutorial , so if you're interested just make sure to check back my channel . Cheers!!

      I just realized that the links for the pics were deleted by the site I've uploaded them , sorry about that . I'll see if I can fix it .

      ***** You are my new Wah mod hero! Please make a video about the FAT WAH MOD! I'm confused.
      I have finally got my wah working with a red fasel connected and installing a 3DPT true bypass switch. I think I need to do it again though, as to connect an LED the wiring has to be done differently.Can you please tell me what sort of potentiometers you're using? I ordered a 100k Linear-Mono pot. I need to get another. I will do exactly what you did (using 2 100k pots), except I won't attempt the fat wah mod just yet. I'm too inexperienced. I also ordered two BC109C metal transistors to replace the existing transistors (no including the one in the buffer as I broke/scraped the connection).
      Man, I love this stuff. I'm a newbie, but have learnt so much because of people like you! Many thanks from London, England :-)

      Hey man thx ! Yeah try the 100kA log/audio , I believe 100k linear is B instead of A. Sometimes you find it like A104 writen on pot but it also means 100kA . this coming weekend Ill make another video explaining the Fat Wah mod since you and 2 more people asked for more details . Be careful modding and building pedals, it is extremely addictive :) I started not too long ago and my wah was my first mod , after that I did a mod on the metal zone and now Im in the process of building my first fuzz but troubleshooting is driving me nuts . Ill let you know once the fatwah video is up so you can have a look . Thanks for watching my video . Cheers from Toronto , Canada

    will any value over 100k be too much or would it just effect the sweep range

  • @GibsonLesPaul2273

    Thanks for the close ups I was able to do the same mods but how do you know what kind of pots to get? I got linear 100k and was asked what wattage I wanted between 0.1 and 1.5w, I had no idea so just took random wattage but worried its gonna fry something.

    • @AlternativeState
      @AlternativeState  7 лет назад +1

      Tbh I think you can have all the way up to 9 volts ( not so sure since its been a while I dont work with electronics) since thats the battery power that would run through the circuit , I think each value of voltage you'll get different sounds , Im glad you liked the video . Cheers

    • @GibsonLesPaul2273
      @GibsonLesPaul2273 7 лет назад +1

      yea thats a good point, that could explain why I have lost so much treble with my mods, the wattage of all my pots are too low maybe.

    I've never really worked with electronics before. Would I be able to add a Q/vocal knob, the volume knob, a true-bypass switch, and an LED indicator without too much trouble, or would mods like those be too difficult without enough experience?

    • @AlternativeState
      @AlternativeState  7 лет назад +1

      They are very easy to do , my first mod ever is the one on this video and to be honest is not too hard as long as you have some experience with soldering . Another thing is , try one mod at the time , this makes it easier for you when it comes troubleshooting time and also makes easier for you to realize whats what and what it sounded before you modded it . I hope this helps cheers... btw any questions feel free to ask

    For the q you removed the resistor completely?

    • @AlternativeState
      @AlternativeState  9 лет назад +1

      Yes , I removed it and soldered the wire straight from the pcb to the pot

    Would a 250 K still work?

    • @AlternativeState
      @AlternativeState  Год назад

      Sorry for the late reply , I did this a while ago so I don't really remember but I do remember messing around with 50k and 100k but not sure about 250k , tbh give it a try and see how it sounds . I remember I kept swaping them till I reached the sound I was looking for

    • @skyreiter7642
      @skyreiter7642 Год назад +1

      @@AlternativeState I only had 50K so I used that and it seems to work. 100 K would probably be better though I'm thinking

    What is the effect of turning the Q knob all the way down? I'm going to do the mod but I wasn't sure if I should put a resistor in series with that pot

    • @AlternativeState
      @AlternativeState  8 лет назад

      Its been a while since I last used my wah so I dont really remember what the Q does all the way down but it controls some equalization , like from bass to treble . As far as the resistor goes just give a try , most of these mods I figured by messing around with mods Ive learned online . Cheers

      Thanks for the reply! I enjoyed the video, very helpful. Looking forward to trying the mods!

      I thought along the same lines as you. So, I ended up using a 50k linear pot with a 22k resistor in series with the center leg. So my range for the Q adjustment is 22k to 62k. It's a generous, but completely usable sweep.

    • @AlternativeState
      @AlternativeState  8 лет назад

      SalvageSV mess around with the values to get different ranges . Maybe if you remove the resistor it might crank the range up a bit . Let me know if you did anything different or new and maybe Ill try it myself too . Cheers

    • @SalvageSVmoto
      @SalvageSVmoto 8 лет назад +2

      I might. I want to test the tones here a little more before any more mods. I might swap out the 390 ohm resistor for a higher one if it's still too bright. I just didn't have anything in the 400 ohm range on hand.

    Would you be willing to do a step-by-step instructional video for these mods (similar to this one: ruclips.net/video/kqyFsuC9fk4/видео.html)?

      Right now Im really busy and I havent had time lately to do videos , plus its been a while I dont do mods so I have to review few things too , Im pretty sure if you follow the example you gave me plus my video you shouldnt have much trouble doing mod on your wah wah . Good luck and rock on !!!!
