    I never looked up your name, never even knew you were that good of a player, all i know is that i love watching your videos because you 1. Explain everything completely but keep it simple, so i can follow your way of thinking. 2. You have a great way of talking to us viewers, you make it interesting and often make these random jokes which also keeps it fun instead of the usual "this and that" from all others.
    Apart from that i'm actually shocked that you got a draw against Boris, now i know why i keep watching your videos, because you're almost like the perfect robot who has great vision. If i turn away from the game and listen to your story near the end of the video, i have to say thank you for doing this Master Mato. You have just given me a hold-on for me if anything would happen in the future, Mato, the Master in chess and life. You are like a Muhammad Ali, a Tupac and even a Bob Marley. Respect.

    • @roadrage9191
      @roadrage9191 8 лет назад +16

      You have to consider 3 options when somebody offers you a draw.
      1) You are losing.
      2) It is trully equal and draw is most likely outcome.
      3) You are winning the game.
      Why would boris offer the draw if you are losing? Hence option 1 is crazy.
      Option 2 & 3 Boris would still considered later as well, if he is losing a draw is good.
      If it is turning out to be a draw he can focus on the other matches after draw.
      Always in best interest for Boris to get the draw.
      Boris would also have more respect for you as a chess player if you considered your options carefully instead of accepting a draw because of fear.

      Sad draw story: in a complicated position my opponent, 200 rating points higher, offered a draw. I thought this was a decent outcome, and accepted. Whereupon he pointed out I had mate in three. Don't let this happen to you! After 50 years I still remember his name. Yes, you, Teddy Soares!

    • @TioAceite
      @TioAceite 6 лет назад +2

      unkysonny Hmm, unless you asked, it seems kind of rude to point it out like that. "Haha, I just tricked you!". He should have let you figure it out by yourself later, or live with that you got a great result against a higher rated player.

    Hi Mato, I liked your story here. In The Netherlands we have one philosopher of world fame, his name is Johan Cruyff. One of his most famous maxims is : "Every disadvantage has its advantage." And so it works out. It did for you, for him, for our soccer team in Brazil last year. And so on. Your story corroberates this. Yours faithfully, Charles from Amsterdam

    Mato- thank you so much for sharing something about who you are and what you have been through. I comment on your vids on occasion- and always think the warmest wishes for you. Not sure if you get a chance to read them but you are certainly my favorite online chesser! I have been through some very rough times with my body the last 2 years- and though I may not have the chess talent you do- I love the game and want to improve greatly. I would like to become an 1800 level player. Your videos mean more to me than just the chess alone. Something of your personality shines through in them- and they are a source of joy for me. Thanks for the encouraging story and I hope you are still doing well!

    Mato, great story! I have watched your videos and wondered about your background. It must have been quite an honor to play a former world champion and an even bigger honor to achieve a draw. Congratulations! And continued success with your chess and other endeavors. If I may ask, you mentioned this was the last chess match you played for 16 years. Why did you leave the game for a time? Though I played, I was never much of a player when I was a kid, but my interest was rekindled a few years ago, and I am trying to learn how to play the game properly. Thank you for your assistance.

      +THE HONGKONGER I know this question is for Mato but anyway I'm going to answer !! When I was 12, in chess.com my rating was 1307-1310 , now I'm 15 and my rating is 1740-1750 !! It's awesome that your rating is 946 . Why ?? Because knowing the fact that you started playing chess one year ago while I myself played chess when I was 5 . I can only say this to you cuz it worked for me >>
      >>>IF YOU FIND A GOOD MOVE , ALWAYS LOOK FOR A BETTER ONE

      +attack while defending Awwwrr thanks, I hope I can improve. Woah you're rating was above 1300 at the age of 12, that's pretty cool. And thanks for the quote there, will keep in mind, very true. Good luck with your chess :)

      +THE HONGKONGER I had a teacher at school who looked after the chess club. He always said, "if you see a good move sit on your hands and think hard about it, it is maybe a trap." I always found that to be good advice.

    • @thequeensconquerer316

      +Iain1962 Yeah, ikr, everytime I play a seemingly good move I end up playing a bad move. You're so lucky you had such a teacher, where I live chess isn't so popular. Thanks

    Mato, honestly my interest in chess grew after watching your videos. My RUclips feed used to be filled with crap. And then we reached critical point. I saw one video of yours and all that crap resigned. Haha, now I see your videos everywhere and I often spend hours watching them and admiring your tutorial skills. You’re an inspiration ! You’re just amazing man !!
