*"Tal resigned"* -- words so painful for Mato to say.
Perhaps not. I think Mato is a big fan of Keres.
Herman47 Keres is better
Akmadadinshad Keres even beat Alekhine 😰
I was reading the words beside the board, keres beat tal 8-5 in entire career, tal is overrated
after watching 8,000 tal videos, these are words I've never heard spoken
Tal didnt lose, he just sacrificed his king.
LMAOROTF.
LMAOOOO
your absolutely right
Dajewish666 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol😂😂😂
Around halfway through the video I figured Tal would lose, since he wasn't down at least 1 full minor piece at that point.
ColdFridge1 lol
At 2:48, "Tal thought castling queenside was too risky..." Tal must have been truly sober to even consider risk.
Swathy Natarajan Keres is no joke.
I challenge to a game and i will be completely drunk
Killer attention to details😁
one of the rare players to have a positive score against tal. even though i am a huge fan of tal, i'm glad you're showing us other amazing players - before these videos i had no idea that keres was THAT good. thank you
I was thinking the same thing!
Keres is one of my favourite players, he was impossible to attack, and often ended up being the one with the initiative after defending so brilliantly.
Have you seen the game against Spassky where he sacrifices his queen? Truly brilliant game.
The sad part of this video isn't Tal losing, but people underestimating Keres.
Keres was also an attacking player, but he doesn't sacrifice his queen every other game.
OMG! This was much more exciting than watching StarWars final scenes! (This game was for the ones asking for Tal and/or Keres playing black). Simply epic! Thanks again, Mato!
I just bought the Staunton chess set this two player used in the Zagreb, Bled Tournament in 1959; love it. and well done again from you, Mato
Wow. That must have cost a fortune.
Hi Mato, this is Berat Ozbag and Alaz Cirak. We love you very much and strictly follow your uploads day by day. Best wishes from Turkey.
I`m surprised to see Tal play 1.d4 against a player like Keres in -54!
He must have had a great deal of respect for Keres.
I know he did some heavy analysis of 1.d4,especially after he lost to Botvinnik in -61,but I didnt think he would play it against serious opposition that early...
Cheers.
(I wish u would do some longer and deeper analysis of some of the MASTERPIECES!)
Knight to F6 at 26th second was obviously the killer move because it threw white to its knees in the end...
Wonderful game of Keres!
Keres always handled Tal in every game they played. Keres had him figured out, once Bobby Fischer came of age he also figured out Tal and Tal could never beat Fischer again
what i love most is that you didnt spoil the result and played the standard white pov
Great game. Sorry that Keres never made it to be the champion of the world. He sure would have earned it.
Simo Lattu world war ruin his chances to fight Alekhine
Thats true, world war did no good all in all..
Mato, The way you are approaching the games of chess is so special. Every match is like a nice story. Good job.
A great game between two awesome players. Tal resigning is something you don't hear every day. ☺
It is fun to see Tal lose every once in a while, just to remind ourselves that that's a possible outcome too. Usually when I see Tal in the video title I come to watch his genius attacks, it's satisfactory to see him struggle a bit! Great videos, Mato, thank you!
I like how keres solid playstyle was a natural counter to the offensive style of tal.
Great job of analysis. Love your videos. Please slow down a bit so that I can digest it all. Many thanks.
Tal was just 17 y. o. in 1954. For a youngster he played very well against world famous grandmaster. But even in later years when Tal was on his peak, he always had problems with Keres. Somehow Tal `s magic and flashy sacrifices did not work well against Keres. Their lifetime score is 8-5 for Keres and was even worse 8-3 before 1973 when Tal scored 2 wins in their last games when Keres was already 57 years old .
Tal and Keres. You spoil us Mr M. A veritable treat.
Two great tactical players! I see the notes mention this as a Gligoric-Taimanov system. Mato, you should show some Gligoric games. He was quite good and underrated.
Thanks Mato for another fine video ..The best part is this time the other side of board won ..Normally in your videos the player who is on down side of the board generally wins..Thanks for making this video more interesting :) ..U r Simply amazing :)
First time i saw tal lose
I wonder who the Petrosian System is named after. Probably someone named System.

I think there should be a donate button on your channel where we can donate $1 each so that you can get a good mic and audio interface. You make all this great videos for free I just think $1 per person is nothing. what do you think?
Agree with this man, you are simply the best lecturer out there
+Uncle Dez / That would be great!
I think PayPal would be good Cuz it's safer. I can setup a good funding page at indie gogo. If you guys really want let me know.
+Dazzwidd That's also something to consider and I would really love that too.
+Dazzwidd Thanks for your input. I totally agree with you.
I think that killer move is on 5:22 - Nd5 because after this move black have all pieces protected and attacking initiative. After queen exchange C pawn is marching to promotion, also black king can easily threat to take down white pawns on g4 and h3 due to difficulty to protect rook, knight and two pawns by white king.
Thanks for another great video, Mato.
Classical games: Paul Keres beat Mikhail Tal 8 to 5, with 17 draws
I hate it, to see Tal loose a game ;).
He is my favourite player.
Amazing chess miniature
I was holding a cup of coffee and couldn't sipped thru the game.
Thanks 👍
That was a nifty little switch up...I've noticed you generally put black at the bottom of the screen if they're going to be the winner (pretty much giving away the outcome.) Thinking he would be the winner, I was expecting Tal to pull some "crazy" move out of his...well...you know...the whole time and somehow snatch a victory. The worse it got for him, the more I was thinking that whatever he ends up doing is going to be beautiful...which quickly turned into...ok...well...not now...he's done...
A fascinating game full of incredible moves. Love and peace. Tim
Love the thumbnail mato! 😂
Hi Mato. Thanks for another great game. Is there any recorded matovideos with games by Reuben Fine?
He had some great games according to chessgames which could be great if they were Matonalized if possiblo :)
At this time Keres was probably the best player in the world. I wonder what his ELO rating was at this point?
Well, tal loosing makes me sad.
all I have seen on your channel is him winning until now.
But he did loose to right player, Keres is one of those very few players I respect equally with Tal.
*lose
I came here in the comment section to say the very same thing :(
Everyone loses. Chess, like life, teaches you HOW to win and how to lose.
tal can also lose?
of course. even kapasrov lost many games. and kasparov is the greatest chess player of all time. tal not even in top5
of course. even kapasrov lost many games. and kasparov is the greatest chess player of all time. tal not even in top5
geri Kasparov is not the greatest of all time and tal is a top 6-8 player easily
He didn't lose; he sacrificed his king.
Keres, the estonian powerhouse!
Mato my life its Music and i lve too much if i have in the school as a teacher i think that i will be a PHD -Harvard UNi vers city , thanx ya for remember that most important than others things its giving some part os this life time sharing with others in the name of All MATO CREW "THaNK U
😟😭Tal lost again
Is there a game where Tal beat Keres? looking everywhere but can't find...thank you Mato - I love your commentary, but don't like to see Tal lose :(
I think critical position was reached at 26 moves in, when black decided to not defend the pawn and go for an attack. I think the killer move was winning the knight on F2, that was clever and Tal should have prevented it, I am surprised it worked.
Yeah Two Videos A Day 👍 Mato You Are The Best
i wouldn't have resigned. the travel of the King to a6 offers one opportunity for check with the rook on the b line and this changes the dynamic quite a bit.
Of course, King wouldn't really go on to hide as far as a6, he could circle his pawn on c6 and get help from the knight at some point. But i don't think going to a6 being chased by the Queen only is the right supposed development there.
Nb6 blocking. Black still runs out of checks and then Tal cannot stop the immediate mate.
wow this was a first time ever I saw Mikhail tal resigned omg what a opponent
no shame in that. Paul Keres was one of the best players ever.
I subscribed to your channle just because your voice XD
Hahaha Trying to confuse the situation hahaha what a Line Sir Jelic much love from Zimbabwe
Awesome game!
The super party. Thank you MATO.
~Before watching thanks Mato, this morning was watching one of your videos and thought to ask you for a Tal and Kares game, there we go here it is.
What? I was expecting Tal to win!
This is the second tal vs keres game he's shown. Tal had a very poor record vs keres and only got 1 win iirc.
I saw Tal won Bobby Ficher so it means Kares is better than bobby????
Keres has beaten Bobby Fischer as well
+Tusshar Shanker And Fischer also won against Kares. Here in Mato's chanel is a video between them!
As soon as I saw that the opponent was Paul Keres I knew that Tal wouldn't be able to walk all over him. This is the guy that should've been world champion if not for Soviet shenanigans.
I saw the first time that Mikhail Tal lost.
tal has always had a tought time beating keres, keres 3-0'd him in a tournament once
your 2 kings going at it. gots to see this 1.
Wow, Tal on the run. I have not seen that before.
That was a pretty mild-mannered game for Tal.
+PaulTurbo Maybe he didn't drink or smoke enough.
Paul played solid, airtight as he usually does. He ALMOST was world champion.. 5 times! Sometimes you need a bit of luck but he never got it. Still a master up there with the rest of them.
mato sir, , has you say one line goes like this, after the player has resigned, you are checking with the king, but there is a check. available with the Rook on e1 and a possible victory for the white player
Mato, I don't know if anyone asked this already but couldn't Keres have captured that pawn on f3 with his rook at 3:27? Tal would've recaptured with his own rook but then the black Queen would've captured his rook. Or would that line have been premature?
If Rxf3 then Qxe5 probably
@@MatoJelic Thanks!
1. Morphy
2. Fischer
3. Alekhine
4. Tal
5. Kasparov
6. Spassky
7. Botvinnik
8. Lasker
9. Steinitz
10. Capablance
great mato epic game i just want to play single chess game with you pleeeese
Interesting battle between two chess giants
"What did I think of this game?"
This was like watching a heavyweight slugfest that goes all 15 rounds.
Let's go a bit more slowly next time, let the viewer think a little.
+I feel free to pause the video at anytime
Yes, just pause the video. Why would he slow down when you have the tools to do that already? Pausing and literally...slowing down the speed of the video!
Wow, Tal was forced to resign! Amazing!
All your videos are great but can you take the subtitles off can't really see the peaces!
awesome narration
amazing!
PRABU sir vs Time travel Nat is the hint given to PRABU sir to guess what is m seconds. BUGS BUNNY, what's up doc?
Hey Mato; isn't the Petrosian Variation where white pushes the pawn to d5 before black moves the Knight to c6?
It is always a shock for me to see Tal losing. 😭😭😭😭😭
Why did Tal play 29. Ng3? Going for Qf2 would have been better, forcing Keres to take the pawn on f3 and simplifing the position. However, I think that Tal failed to protect his King before. Castling King's side was a great choice since move 14.
6:11 rook to H2 checkmate? Would that not be the best move?
and they say Keres was overrated. Funny
7:32 after black queen takes pawn, then she can take the knight and it's not too bleak for white. He could go for a draw, maybe.
+Defalt47 I don't understand. At 7:32, it's White's move, not Black's, and there are no good options.
+GoldinDr I meant instead of black king to f6, black queen takes pawn, giving check to the white king and challenging white queen. Obviously there would be a queen exchange, after which white rook takes black rook. The board does favor white at that point, but I'd say there still exists a chance for a gamechanging play, right? As I said, it's not too bleak for black.
+Defalt47 So then why on earth would Black do that? Still not understanding ... Kf6 leaves White without good options. Almost like a safety shot in nine-ball pool.
+GoldinDr I was thinking of something peculiar. You're right, nvm.
it looks like keres should be a stopper in chess players best eleven
The worst part is.. when he says " and tal resigns" damn
Excellent!
4:00 material is equal? Except for the white knight, right?
+Occsei Correction 27...Rxf3 would lead to a draw by repetition
What site do you play on? Do you use lichess?
Hey Mato, and e.e.,
I am a bit confused. At 6:14 h4+ is played. Why not Rg1 and pinning black queen? Black might answer with Rf1. which pins the white rook, but white should win the black rook with Rg1xf1.
What do I miss there?
Rg1 and black wins. Have a good look at it again
@@MatoJelic Oh man, I missed Rh2++ ... total tunnelvision! Thank you.
Tal lost its fine, still I enjoyed Mato Jelic's Commentary.
plz mato..show us a game between paul keres and mikhail tal where tal won ...
Title was chosen very carefully 😊
Why not queen to g2 in the critical move for blacks? Isn't that a check mate?
Keres was great. I didn't understand why when white queen takes e5 pawn...black didn't play rook takes f3 pawn.
Very nice game.
Tal is my favorite player, but I actually wanted black to win in this game. He won me over somehow
Good to see Tal lose. Keres was an amazing player. Somehow I never found Tal as impressive as say a Paul Morphy or even close to what the comments section on this channel makes him out to be.
i have so muchrespect for keres now
anybody that could Defeat Mikhail Tal had nerves of steel
white could have proceeded without castling...by pushing the h pawn and playing qh6. especially after the dark square bishops had been exchanged
is there a game between tal and keres which tal won? video please
Strange game... Tal opening with d4 and Keres playing King's Indian instead of Nimzo-indian ? Tal closing the center ? Good game anyway...
sad :-( tal lost again.. huge respect towards Paul krtes now :)
great game
Nice game :-)
Mato, sir! Nedzhmetdinov playd somewhen against Keres?
+Czegenyi Raymond id like to know this also,i love Nedzmetdinov videos from mato, but theres alot more Keres games, they are both amazing chess players who beat world champions like Tal, but never became champions themselves, Keres is called the un-crowned king, i think Nedzmetdinov is also, id like to see them both playing against each other :)
