Love seeing games where no one makes any errors, just a heavyweight battle brilliantly played on both sides.
This is a masterpiece. David Bronstein is one of the great super GM's in the history of chess. For Keres to KO Bronstein is simply awesome.
Thank you for finishing the game in all possible variations.
Players should not be allowed to resign.
Must play to bitter end.
Absolutely magnificent endgame play from Keres. One of the most impressive games I have ever seen.
Perhaps it should be noted that Grandmaster David Bronstein almost won the World Chess Championship (from Grandmaster Botvinnik) the year this game with Grandmaster Paul Keres was played.
Thank you, Mato, for the Keres series! The games truly are spectacular and make me respect him even more - he has such an amazing style!
Enjoying the Paul Keres series! Bronstein would be also good for a series, to my knowledge he was very creative and unortodox player...
fabulous games! Kudos to both players;
A real masterpiece from Paul Keres..He builds up his attack in a very smooth & step ladder fashion...A favourite of mine along with Alekhine , Schlecter & Lasker..
I need to buy a book of Paul Keres games. Amazing games
Pure class from Keres in that end game.
Loved the what-if analysis. Thanks so much.
Two chess giants on the battlefield, amazing game! I read this was a training game to prepare Bronstein for his match with Botvinnik which began few days later. Mato, excellent commentary as always, svaka cast :)
excellent video Mato! hope you still making these videos for a long time!
those bishop deflection moves
Keres I wish I have a mind in chess strategic like yours
Hello Mato. I have a question regared on making a video caption of a certain Keres game. It was played against Bronstein in Amsterdam, 1956 at the Candidates Tournament. It was an amazing game, where Keres position was hopeless but with amazing tactics and much finesse he managed to turn the tide and with your commentary the game would get a perfect touch. Thank you!
An amazing game of chess by two players who could have been Champs, given some more fortune. Thanx Mato for providing the goods!
a fantastic chess game played by 2 chess legends! thank u mato!
I was able to find the killer move!!, Thanks Mato :)
Always felt that Keres tanked his 1948 games with Botvinnik in the FIDE World Champion tournament. The Soviets were not happy that Keres played in tournaments in Nazi Germany during the war and tried to take a boat to Sweden as the USSR was "liberating" Estonia.
And Bronstein's dad was recently released from the gulag to watch his son play Botvinnik in 1951 for the championship. His dad's crime was having the same last name as Leon Trotsky. Pretty sure he took a dive in that match to keep his profession.
The Bronstein attack would be interesting in a couple of games! Thx M.
From my limited chess perspective, this was a most enjoyable game to watch.
I wonder if there are chess games of LeonTrotzki (aka Lew Bronstein) recorded! David Bronstein had to face the double deflecting killa moves - which I was taught to spot very well...
Thanks for posting!
One of best annotations
sir mato thank you for these videos you r the best
"Black has 2 pawns. Both of them will die. Definitely, maybe."
you are the best!!!
The exellent is party. Thanks MATO.
+MatoJelic, what if 41...Kh8? Then Bf7 isn't check, and after 42. g4 Qd7, Keres has what, maybe 43. Qf8 with Bg8 to follow? Still looks pretty good for white, but survivable for more than a couple more moves.
Brilliantly
played by Paul Keres.
Thank you. Please subscribe
@@MatoJelic I already did so.
7:43. Keres' rook to a8, then a7 was genius
So what's up with all the Paul K. Videos
+Jason Bourne Keres was one of the small handful of players in the conversation for 'greatest player to never win the world championship.' More than worthy of deep study.
+Jason Bourne And it is worth to mention that he was born 100 years ago, on 7th of January.
+Kaarel Anton Thank you Jason.
He was born 100 years ago, on 7th of January. That is why I made Paul Keres playlist in respect of him.
@matojelic. At 6:30 why didn’t white play bishop to h5 , after taking the rook , white will do better at end game if they exchange the queens and rooks etc
Not sure what David was up to on the King-side. After exf4, his attack was over. It seems he should have re-grouped and attempted to do something with his b,c, and d pawns.
Thank you Mato
Wonderful
44.Q×B doesn't win for white for black can also reply Q×B!
44.Qf6+ is the right way to go!
At 6:28, isn't Bh5 is winning for white? or maybe Bxb5 in the earlier move,
+Mojjj The Pb5 is doomed anyway, no hurry there. Bh5 would allow Black to sacrifice the exchange for a P with Rg3+ and Qxh5, then opening the long diagonal with d4 would give the great tactician Bronstein (who must have known that he had been completely outplayed) some swindle chances.
im a newbie to chess. what would happen if bh5 at 6:13?
brilliant! i did not watch until the end before i commented. he obviously had a better plan than taking pieces. awesome! thanks for the video!
Simply WOW!
Such a beautiful game
MATO, pls make videos of Emmanuel Lasker
Can someone tell me why Paul didn't pin the rook to the queen with his light square bishop? Can't exchange for check so why the oversight? Time stamp around 6:43
This was a longer complicated game for Keres
Paul Keres is a chess Titan!
Paul Keres is a beast😊😊
What at 6:30 mins White's white bishop to h5? Forking rook and queen white wins there only
Can anyone please explain why not white plays Bh5 pinning the rook (and forking the rook and queen) at 6:29?
Nice.
Incrediblu!
Great game..
Love you IMACULATA
I really like your videos mato, but because I live in Bulgaria,I get email updates about your new video in the middle of the night (2:00 - 3:00 AM).Is there any way to stop email updates from you without unsubscribing?
Thanks in advance,
and bye for now :).
There is one way. Don't check your email at 2-3am, wait until 8am hehe :D
The notification sounds sometimes wake me up
The 2nd Paul in chess history is also awesome. :-)
damn and to think that keres was losing in the beginning, amazing skills.
After White's B - h5, what is wrong with Black playing B - f7?
at 6:29 why not Bh5 attacking the rook and the queen behind the rook?
I saw the same pin at 6:29, I guess that is also a good move, however, Keres probably saw deeper and wanted his bishop Deflecting Blacks Queen for his attack.
A great game between two almost-world-champions. I saw the minority attack coming.
Reat game.
Both Keres and Bronstein are kings with no crown.
And I don't say _'were'_ for also they are immortal.
What if bishop to F7 at 9:00? Wouldn't that be a better move?
+Matthew Taruno I was wondering the same thing, here's my theory of why. If bishop to f7, then if the white bishop takes on f7 then black rook would need to take on f7, then white rook would take on f7, then queen takes on f7, then queen takes on c6 and black loses a pawn.
if bishop to f7 white will win a pawn
+Brady Allen Thanks, that makes sense: more respect to Paul Keres.
At 11.00 black is not loosing a piece coz if white queen takes black bishop then black queen takes white bishop correct me if i am wrong
Maybe it was considered?
That was fun
❤️
it's an interesting showcase of games. I would not call it "lecture" however
At -1:06 QxB does not win a piece. QxB, black Q takes White bishop and black is with two passed pawns. Isn't it?
Wow !
Trotsky was also Bronstein, haha :-)))
Keres rules!
Keres is enough Mato!We want more carlsen videos.
+ohin ak Not enough.
Carlsen is a very methodical, almost machine like player. his games aren't as fiery and entertaining to watch imo
shut up dude.
Someone can explain me, Why This guy (Keres) never was the World Champion? Unbelievable!
+Pensando LA is world war a good enough reason?
+Can Attal Ohh!! I see... jaja Thanks!!
Actually Bronstein was only one win short of becoming world champion
+Pensando LA He certainly has the talent. The problem is that winning a championship is hard, and requires a bit of luck to go with all that skill the contenders have. See Dan Marino or Charles Barkley. Also, world chess championships aren't necessarily contested every year.
after rhg6.....bh6 by white could ve been played
..
White missed a chance to pin black's rook against the black queen winning rook for bishop.
Why Keres? Lesser known but very dangerous opponent!
6:30 why not bh5
Paul "Razorblades" Keres
Yikes mato your titles in trouble
On 6:20, why not Bh5?
Rxg3+, hxg3, Qxh5 and black have a better chance to equalize the game(drawing chance). Rxb5 gaining more advantage to win the game.
j kan best like poul keres game
05:00 I probably would have resigned here as white.
Gg
But Mikhail Tal defeated paul keres very easily
another game from poor careless....
