Dafoe owns the role so completely. This movie has some of the best casting ever. To the point that they would keep JK Simmons for his role through two reboots. I can not imagine any other franchise where that has happened.
The scene where the people on the bridge started throwing objects at Green goblin had special meaning because it was showing the people of New York coming together. Especially since this film was released after September 11th
The thing that trips me about this film is that the pacing is actually really good. All the important events in the Spiderman mythos happen rather naturally, one after another. But the dialogue can be so hokey in certain scenes. PS - JK Simmons has looked like he was 50 for like 20 years now, so he's in such a cushy position as an actor.
Nice! Thanks for reacting to this one to help people remember it! It's one of the good ones and folks will be talking about it after that next Spidey movie comes out!
Excited for the Spider-Man 2 reaction! To this day it remains my favorite superhero film of all time. I like it even more now as an adult than I did as a teen back in '04. It's my go-to movie whenever I'm having a bad day, because no matter what I'm going through in life, Peter's got it way worse haha.
This one and the next are still probably some of my favourite superhero movies, they just have so much heart in them that can sometimes feel missing from the more recent films.
“Spider-Man would be weak in a country field” I think you’ll find that Peter B Parker from Into the Spiderverse is a big fan of the greyhound bus line! Also, Spider-Man isn’t needed in a country field, not a lot of crime compared to say, New York City
This movie is a masterpiece and is honestly one of my favorites of all time. Tobey Maguire will always be the superior Spider-Man for me. Great reaction btw, Alyce.
After Disney got a hold of Marvel, they took the heart out their commodities, because to them that's all they are. These films are from a time when the people working on them really cared about the art. I hope in time we can get back to that.
I can’t believe people think these movies are bad.... the real bad movies are the new ones that feel so devoid of this much care and effort put into the movie.
I hate the childish humour of Disney and their monopolisation. I miss these times when directors had more creative freedom and stylistic influence. MCU Spider-Man humour is mostly awful. The Raimi trilogy is by far my favourite set of superhero movies, they feel unique. Much rather have these horror vibes than overused comedy.
Still probably my favorite Spiderman movie outta all of them. Tobey the GOAT. Also glad they bringing this Green Goblin costume back cause i still love it.
Willem Defoe was fantastic as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. I've never liked that costume though. It was supposed to look more like it does in the comics, but for unknown reasons they redesigned it during filming. Even Stan Lee was confused by this decision, as he preferred the concept version too.
@@Rocket1377 the comic book Green goblin looked more like the incredible hulk with elf ears and a purple onesie though. But I can see your point of view
I love how you see this Spider-Man actually fight unlike Tom Holland’s Spider-Man where he never ever even throws a punch and Relies on Tony starks tech suits
@@Kayoss13212 so true . His character never goes through any hardships and is pretty much handed everything . He has no consequences really since he always has Tony starks pay check to bail him out of everything the kid doesn’t even seem like he’s broke or struggling in his day to day life as Peter
I'm glad that a bunch of reaction channels have been watching/re-watching the good Spider-Man movies, but I hate that it's only because the MCU is releasing "No Way home" with characters from the original trilogy...
The great thing about MJ is... when you look in her eyes and she's looking back in yours... everything... feels... not quite normal. Because you feel stronger and weaker at the same time. You feel excited and at the same time, terrified. The truth is... you don't know what you feel except you know what kind of man you want to be. It's as if you've reached the unreachable and you weren't ready for it."
I remember watching this movie soo much as a kid and never getting bored of it due to how well it was written. This pacing of this movie is absolutely terrific, movies like this one paved the way for other superhero movies to be made
That's probably because the Tobey McGuire Spider-Man movies are based on the original 1960s comics. Andrew Garfield's version is based more on the 2000s Ultimate Spider-Man comics, which attempted to reimagine and modernise the characters. That's why his Green Goblin is so different.
That's one of the few flaws with this movie. They should have introduced his proper costume earlier. In the comics he becomes a famous tv star several weeks after his wrestling match debut. He had already gotten the final costume before his uncle is killed.
Tobey Maguire was in a 1990 Atari Lynx tv spot playing video games in a restroom. He was also in a 1991 Tropicana Twister tv spot as a "bad boy". "Why don't you put some broccoli in there?"
Spider-Man is my favourite superhero and I love your videos so this is a win-win! 😂 Loved this reaction so much, hope you react to Spider-Man 2 soon. Best film in the trilogy in my honest opinion 😊
19:17 Fun fact about this suit: Back then cameras has a bit of an issue registering red with black, which is typically what Spider-Man's webbing on his suit is colored. To compensate for this the costume designers decided to use silver webbing to make it stand out more, and honestly it looks amazing (no pun intended)
This Spider-Man trilogy was the begging of a live action Spider-Man that would inspire what the next live actions in it's near future, what is were in now. Not remember the last time I've scene this Spider-Man, but when you Alyce made theses rations it got me back in this series again. Glad that you like it I was hoping and wondering when you would do a Marvels reaction one day and now are, can't wait for the next reactions happy Marveling Alyce.
That actor you recognized bullying Peter is Joe Manganiello (a.k.a. Mr. Sophia Vergara, a.k.a. Deathstroke in the Snyderverse, a.k.a. "Henry Cavil's only rival for 'Incredibly buff and handsome king of the geeks.'") As a comic nerd, he knew he wasn't right for the role when he got called to audition for Peter, but knew he could do a great Flash Thompson and campaigned for that part instead.
Not only the best Spider-Man, but the best comic book to cinema adaptation. I'd rather watch this quality cast and direction than the latest CGI,...only issue I ever had was the decision to go with natural webbing rather than have PP invent his web-shooters, but other than that this trilogy really did a great job of bringing the original Spidey to life. Excelsior!!
Daredevil in 2003 was the first marvel film to have a post credits scene but it's didn't become a staple that set in stone that every Marvel movie had to have a post credits scene untill the MCU started with Iron Man in 2008.
We all know we watched that great scenes of great movie with great actors a couple of times..but never with ur pretty beautiful face smiling and reacting on it!😄 🙌🏻👍🏼
18:32 Actually, you have to look really carefully because he doesn't have a dialogue scene but Stan Lee is actually one of the pedestrians below who is running with the people to avoid falling debris from hitting them from above. He actually pulls a little girl away from being hit. ;)
Toby Maguire is the best Spider-Man and Peter Parker. Hands down. Kirsten Dunst was perfect as Mary Jane. Love that legendary kiss scene. Worst part of Spider-Man 3 for me was him doing the kiss with another. 💔 hopeless romantic so i felt it.
Yeahhhh, what a movie Omg when people see these and say "Oh that's where the memes are from" it's like a little facepalm moment but also makes me happy HAHAHA
I'm liking the fact that many RUclipsrs are watching these films before the new Spiderman film comes out so they can be prepared for how the enemies react to Peter. I paused to read the article about Osborn for the first time and it was quite interesting. Next up: Spider-Man 2.
5:56 Fun fact: This memorable scene required 156 takes in total in order for this shot to be wrapped. The reason is because this special shot was created without any CG effects at all. Yep, it was all real and practical.
If he is in the new Spiderman, will he still have the web still shooting out of his hands. That would be interesting to see how the other characters would react.
I love that they got a horror director to make this film. Some of the over the top bad guy moments are played up like crazy and I love it.
They actually couldn't have gotten a better director considering Sam Raimi grew up reading the comics.
Sam raimi
Dafoe owns the role so completely. This movie has some of the best casting ever. To the point that they would keep JK Simmons for his role through two reboots. I can not imagine any other franchise where that has happened.

The horror influence definitely gave it more style
That thumbnail is unintentionally hilarious you’re just laughing at Peter’s grief
Hahahaha
Look at little Spider Jr. Gonna cry?
I laugh at Tobey's crying face
William Dafoe should've won an Oscar for this movie.
William Defoe’s goblin will always be my favorite Spiderman villain
The scene where the people on the bridge started throwing objects at Green goblin had special meaning because it was showing the people of New York coming together.

The intro credits were such a good addition to these movies, especially with Danny elfmans legendary score
Yeah, and all she did was complain.
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies are so full of memes and nostalgia
Raimi's Spider-Man and the Star Wars Prequels are the greatest sources of meme content.

This movie really displayed Kirsten Dunst as a grown woman totally removed from her child roles.
