I always support Scotland in World Cups, Euros, etc and am disappointed when they lose, and I'm English. 78 was my first World Cup and I was rooting strongly for Scotland. And then along came 82 and Northern Ireland's heroics. A magical moment. I always support all the home nations.
Yeah all of my English family were rooting for Scotland in the group games and were quite disappointed when they didn’t beat Hungary to make it out of the groups. I suppose it’s historical but it does seem I bit over the top to dedicate yourself so strongly to hating. Whatever makes them happy though and I still hope they can do well in the next international tournament.
