These are the videos I enjoy watching, Will. So glad you are back. Also I hope life gets better now for you - living in a beautiful country will definitely help!
Stunning, Will. You perfectly capture the challenges and joy of being a photographer, and you came out with splendid pics. I’m glad to see you back in the frame.
Thanks very much for watching it. Sadly most of the pics were from previous visits. This time was much less successful. I wanted to give any prospective visitors a feel for the place.
Good morning, Will, I am somewhat older than you and recently struct some relatively minor but noticeable limitation in my physical ability. Then I come across a phrase ‘Do not let the old man in’. Good luck, take care, you’ll make it.
Thanks and very good saying! My dad is 83 had Parkinsons since 53 - he still has a six pack unlike me. A great example for me to follow. I won’t let the old man in from now on!
I have been procrastinating over the last few days since I saw your video show up on my screen and wanted to see it "when I had time"... Life is all about learning - my opinion - So what did I learn? Well, A) you are much braver than I - but that does not say much, so I will say it - You ARE brave. B) I love your honesty and your attitude (OH! AND YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY, before those aspects). C) You are quite right about getting all the "other" scenes on the way. D) Loved the photos you speckled the video with. E) And oh! Age is just a number. What do you think your true age is? Mine is 13.8 billion years (or so). What is yours? My guess is that it is the same. Thanks for the commitment to your videos.
What a beautiful place! You hit the nail on the head. It takes courage and physical ability to do good landscape photography, wherever you are. Since COVID, I’ve let my physical ability slide way too much and it shows in my art. I can’t let 79 years become the excuse that wrecks all that fun and reward!
If I’m still standing at 79 I’ll be very grateful. Don’t be too hard on yourself but thats one of the best things about photography, it inspires us to keep going out and trying and that’s a great formula for the rest of life! Keep going!
Good luck with your photographic expeditions. It is hard to deliver great results constantly, but the only way to achieve greatness, is never ever give up!
Absolutely stunning video footage and incredible scenes and stills...What an adventurous foray into the unchartered wild!...have not watched anything like this...fantastic.
I wish you well, my friend. You have the technical know-how and the ability to step out of comfort zones. Sadly I gave up because of health issues and financial limitations after covid.
Every once in a while, I still go for a ride on my son's Yamaha TW200. (That's a lightweight real old school go anywhere you point the front wheel bike). Makes me feel 17 years old instead of 71 years young.😂
Keep on rocking man, I know exactly what you mean by physical condition. And just for the record first time I set to photograph a desert and a rainforest I also struggled (and still do to a certain extent) to find the hero / establishing shot.
Wow. I was there as a child ..5 years old...been passing there on my way home from Phalaborwa gate kruger park. Would love to go back there to go take some pics. Im now 60. it carved such an impression in my mind that even 55 years later I crave going back. love your storytelling. thanks
Wow. Well said Will. No-one ever talks about the fear factor but it is quite real. I'm 69 now and I used to think I was invincible. I would do anything for a great shot. These days, it is a real mental barrier. My area isn't anything like yours but even here, a broken bone, a snake bite, or even a sudden illness when alone, miles from cell service is a real factor and as you said, it is a mental barrier I have to force myself to face down every time I am out alone in a remote stretch of mountain forest.
I have never thought of myself as invincible. Especially with heights, but I have done some really crazy things to get a shot. I wasn't sure if it was just me that was frightened. Possibly it's because, like you, I photograph alone out in the middle of nowhere, it's a definite factor and it gets worse the older I get!
Incredibly interesting video Will. Nearly everyone who has ever visited Africa loves the country (I certainly do!) and your images, videography and story telling skills do it real justice. I have a good friend living about 20 miles or so from Cape Town and he keeps me updated on the deteriorating conditions there. I do hope that you and your family remain safe and that you will be able to continue making outstanding videos. Keep up the good work👌
Absolutely love the way that you narrate these. Beautiful work. You may not fully understand this, but I am truly great-full that you are showing me your country. I will never get to travel there, so these videos are priceless. The storytelling and production is seriously top notch! Stay well!
Thanks for this motivation. Far fewer excuses here in Canada not to go in search of the shot -- few insect-borne illnesses, few predators to catch us by surprise. We don't have to be nearly so brave, so we should be grateful for that!
@@WillGoodlet Haha fair enough! But wolves won't bother you, bears are only troublesome if you surprise them in a bad moment, and dealing with the cold is all about layering 😅 I suppose we all get accustomed to our own local challenges!

9:40 another way of looking at it is redefining what the best shot actually is.
