    My grandma used to make absolutely delish salad with beets. Boiled and shredded beets, chopped prunes, couple cloves of garlic, dress with veg oil or little mayo.. Sometimes she added a small handful of chopped walnuts..

    You may want to consider a deer fence. I've used deer busters. Great customer service to develop a plan that will work for you, and not prohibitively expensive. We enclosed our 123 ft by 76 ft garden with a gate and critter guard for burrowing animals for around $6k. Easy to install. (And, no, I'm not a paid marketer. Just a happy customer.)

    We bought 2 black light flashlights. It's actually a regular flashlight with a black light on it also. We go out after dark and shine the black light on the garden plants. The hornworms light up a neon green. They are very easy to see. Sometimes they are under the leaves so we make sure to check all around the plants. Stink bugs light up nicely too. We have also found other type caterpillars, larvae, and a grasshopper. I dont think the black light affects them as much so they don't try to hide. Just a suggestion to find bugs easier. 😊

    …Beets are one of the prettiest vegetables. The tops make a squeaky noise. 😄 I knew the deer would be after your grapes. Darn it. ☹️ 🍇 🦌 🦌 🦌

      hi, yes i like to eat the beets leaves and the chopped beets in salads. yumyum. I might need to build an entire fenced enclosure around the grape vines, to keep out the deer and raccoons. thanks, have a great day!

    The garden is looking great despite the minor setbacks earlier in the year, great job! I've read that a simple way to control deer from foraging in the garden is to put up a perimeter of fishing line about 8-12inches high and a few feet back from the crop.. the deer supposedly walk up to the garden/plant to munch and get spooked by the fine line touching their legs.. I'm not certain this works but figured I'd share the knowledge since I'm working on purchasing a home and have been researching ways to cohabitate with nature

    Good to see your garden thriving in this heat. I had to invest in shade cloth because my basil was bolting.
    I cooked up some Zucchini leaves using the method I use for Collards. I tgrew some Zucchini flowers in for garnish.

    If you plant sweet alyssum around your tomatoes, you won’t have hornworms. I’ve done it for years and never have hornworms where I plant alyssum under my tomatoes!

    Does anyone else make the trumpet sound or cheering crowd when they harvest a vegetable or make a salad...or is that just me?
    Also, those beets are fantastic. Do you have a how-to video on them? My beets *never* look so good. And I have the same problem with deer with my pear trees and honeyberry shrubs. I was not aware deer loved those when I planted them in my front yard. What will you do when the grapes grow out and you start training them along the wire?

    Hey. Central NC. I Have had to self pollinate my scalloped squash and zucchini squash because of no bee's. Have you had that trouble?? I have flowers around.

    • @BubbleBeet
      @BubbleBeet  2 месяца назад

      hi, i do hand pollinate the zucchini. i keep em in a screeened box to protect from vine borer moths, but it also blocks the bees. so i will brush the flowers together to pollinate.
