This course is an introduction to Extremal Combinatorics, which has enjoyed rapid growth in the past five decades. We aim to give an overview on various popular topics and methods in this area, including extremal problems on discrete structures such as graphs, set systems, posets etc, and introduce algebraic method, probabilistic method, regularity lemma and entropy method and their applications. If time permits, we will discuss also some recent developments.
