- This 1980 VW Rabbit Pickup (Caddy) spent the last 25 years of its life in a cattle field in central Washington. Now that it's back home in Ohio, it's time for a 1.9L TDI turbodiesel swap in preparation for another trip across the continent. #VW #TDISWAP

I hope you really get more subs! Your enthusiasm is infectious! Watching this faithfully on TikTok and here. Muscle cars are my thing but all vehicles have potential!
I’ll be religiously following this project, love all your content man. Found you from TikTok.
I can smell most of this video. The interior of the truck and beetle, and especially The Diesel fuel burning...
Dude, you need to make more videos! You really have a skill and your content is awesome.
Here from your tiktok
I love TDI engine
I have an Audi A3 Sportback 8v 1.6tdi
I'm italian
Looking forward for future videos!! Can’t wait to see how this build turns out.
Great job. I like the plan. Keep it up!!
Awesome video! cant wait for the next episode!
I remember following this
I remember when I was a grease monkey. Fun times. Great project, very challenging ! Thanks again, RickGTI….. 🌴🔧
Can't wait to see more of this!
I know what you mean about everything from the firewall back is "junk." I picked up a somewhat beat up 09 Jetta for its CBEA heart, and once I raided the wiring and other parts needed, it was pretty much a shell nobody wanted.
Here from tiktok, can’t wait to see what’s gonna happen to the TDI 🙂
Finally a creator who still puts out good informational content like the old days
This is such a great series of videos, I really wanna see how this car project goes. Your videos are really good. Keep tearing it my guy, you earned a sub.
good luck
I'm sure you'll be getting a colt cam and oil mod stuff
Best way to swap is the whole donor car try not to sell off stuff you might need lol
Love the video man!
Yo definitely keep the vids coming. You have big potential to be a big youtuber! Dont stop posting vids
so rad!!goals ,it gonna bool wish my mk2 was pd but ahu still bools w some goodies:0
Hey James I like your videos, I am a new follower came from TikTok 💪
Necesito el siguiente capítulo!!
Keep posting
Need some more videos
Recently found your videos, still waiting on an update to this series! I have a mk2 gli and a 2005 tdi donor car so this Is a dream project
You start that project yet?!
@taalfthorpe7498 ended up putting a transmission and turbo on the "donor" tdi and have been daily driving it while I finish up a different mk4. Mk2 hasn't been touched in a while, im considering all mk4 4cyl engines for swaps at this point. If anything pops up cheap I'll move on it 🤣
"But it do have a slight dent in it"
I got the 2003 TDI SWAP in my mk1 Caddy! It’s awesome, MPG it gets 47 city 65 highway! 580 miles too the tank!! 12 gallons!
how much did it cost? i got a quote from a guy for $12k-15k to do the job with all parts included. i used to do jobs like that myself but for something this ambitious i want to trust it with someone that has done it before.
@@vgrepairs I had Eurowise Performance put my in! All I had was the engine, transmission, axle and engine mounts and Wiring harness and radiator.
$3400.00 for turn key running. That's coolant plumbing. Turbo plumbing exhaust turned down pipe and Exhaust and wiring.
@@killerb9747 wow!!!!
@@vgrepairs Just call them and ask how much it would cost.
@@killerb9747 kickass
I’m also dining a tdi swap in my caddy but I’m using a alh I also have a bew out of a 2005 golf but that’s for a different swap..
What do you need to buy from copart? And what STATE steps do you need to have to get it “road legal”? I’m from Colorado so I’m sure it’s different.
Every two days
Dude I’m Your area… would love to help, lol am best described as unskilled as far as what you are doing but would love to learn… anyway I enjoy your content…
What you doing with the stock 1.6 driveline?
fyi the beetle you showed was a gas turbo S lol the turbo S never came diesel
ASZ and BLT are the best in terms of 1.9
I’d agree but we never got those stateside 🤷🏻♂️
Is that a 5.0 I see
Why did you put BEW in it and not the ALH? The ALH was far more reliable.
Truth is, I just prefer the BEW. I’ve driven both and liked the BEW so much more
Do you people wanna laugh? Here in Argentina, a 2006 VW Beetle (2.0L, 'cause I couldn't find a TDI for sale), with 115.000 kilometers (72.000 miles), if you pay cash, it goes for............. $12,200 dollars!!
mexico manufactures many vehicles for VW and nissan, why arent those vehicles cheaply exported between latin american countries? pressure from higher paying markets like the USA?
"rabbit pickup"
nice video you wanna sell me you're 1.6?
This thing will use hardly any fuel...
the 1.6 is beter newer motors are reabile
