  • This 1980 VW Rabbit Pickup (Caddy) spent the last 25 years of its life in a cattle field in central Washington. Now that it's back home in Ohio, it's time for a 1.9L TDI turbodiesel swap in preparation for another trip across the continent. #VW #TDISWAP

    I know what you mean about everything from the firewall back is "junk." I picked up a somewhat beat up 09 Jetta for its CBEA heart, and once I raided the wiring and other parts needed, it was pretty much a shell nobody wanted.

      @taalfthorpe7498 ended up putting a transmission and turbo on the "donor" tdi and have been daily driving it while I finish up a different mk4. Mk2 hasn't been touched in a while, im considering all mk4 4cyl engines for swaps at this point. If anything pops up cheap I'll move on it 🤣

      how much did it cost? i got a quote from a guy for $12k-15k to do the job with all parts included. i used to do jobs like that myself but for something this ambitious i want to trust it with someone that has done it before.

    • @killerb9747
      @killerb9747 2 года назад +1

      @@vgrepairs I had Eurowise Performance put my in! All I had was the engine, transmission, axle and engine mounts and Wiring harness and radiator.
      $3400.00 for turn key running. That's coolant plumbing. Turbo plumbing exhaust turned down pipe and Exhaust and wiring.
