  • I'm starting a new series that I'm calling "Getting Personal". I had this idea for a while now but it was while I was vacationing in London that I decided that there was no time like the present to just launch it. This series will be less about financial matters but more about other things that have slowly made their way to the fore front as I've gotten older (and hopefully, perhaps wiser). I want to start a separate series to address those topics. I'm not sure on scheduling or anything else but I hope the videos come on a somewhat regular basis. So please join me for the ride and as always, thanks for watching!

Hi, casual watcher here. Just curious, what was your occupation was before retiring? Did you have side hustles? I tried finding an intro vid, but don't think I came across it. Like to hear other people's stories for motivation.

I worked with a professional services firm to help them manage the leases for offices they occupied. No side hustles. While the pay is good, it's not like it's IT/software engineer type salary. It's more of staying at the same place for a long time to take advantage of benefits like increased profit sharing, etc. as well as saving a large part of my income & investing for a long period of time. Also trying to keep lifestyle creep in check. There was plenty of lifestyle creep but keeping it in check was key as trying to keep up with the Joneses or appearances is a huge drain.
If this was a story of the hare and the tortoise, I was most definitely the tortoise.
