That is a John Prine type of line, simple and profound at the same time. One of many reasons to love these two is because they loved John. They quit the CMA because that group did not hone John Prine, Jerry Jeff walker, and Billy Joe Shaver.

The best songwriter alive, who shines brightest in this stripped-down setting. 'Dreamsicle' alone conveys a richer story in three minutes than most novels. All the tenderness, heartache and hilarity of growing up, in perfect, crystalline rhyme... and Amanda's fiddle just shatters me. Acoustic duo album when?

Now that John Prine is gone I really can't argue with your statement about Jason's songwriting skills. That Amanda is also an exceptionally powerful, wonderful, and honest songwriter just makes their union an even bigger blessing to us than their individual talents alone. With the depth of the joys and sorrows they write and sing of, it is difficult to remember they are still quite young (he will be 42 in February, 2021, she will turn 39 on 5 March, 2021). With any luck our world will be graced by their musical talents long after I'm gone and forgotten.

c'mon now, i get it, you guys are in love with him, but there's plenty of people out there writing great songs every day, different genres, different vibes, not everything has to be country to be good or perfect. take it easy, there's nothing like "the best" in this world, but many different ones in different ways. just wanted to point that out, not to ruin anyone's party. apologies if i did. cheers everybody.

A lot of issues both internal and external and drank the night before the show, up til sunrise and only for a few hours of sleep. Walk in there feeling like trash for him to open up with that first song and I don’t believe in any particular religion but I sure can take a hint when I hear one and that song almost had me in tears right off the rip with how much it felt directed at me. Can only hope to do better from this point on

Seriously folks - playing loud guitar thru headphones may make you sane, but as we found out in he 1980's it will also make a person deaf.
Jus' tryin to help, sittin here at "home".

So fresh but comfortingly familiar. Just what I/we all need right now. I think I'm Amanda Shires' new biggest fan. People don't realize that putting fiddle and singin together is super hard--the brain quite literally rebels, so it takes a bit of genius to transition.

I agree with JohnNick72. Jason doesn’t release albums with a couple of good songs and the rest “filler material”. It’s ALL good! I’d start with Southeastern and Something More than Free.....then go backward and forward from there! The song “Elephant” brought me into the Isbell camp!
