I know that Jason has had his demons, but to combat them and end up with a beautiful and talented wife as his partner and to be one of the greatest songwriters of all time is truly a blessing. You've done your time Jason. Now you get to help people through theirs. So thankful for your music
I just asked my 2.5 year old daughter about her day while we were watching this and she said “I don’t wanna talk at the same time as this music” 😂🙏🏻 good call kid, I don’t know what I was thinking.

That is a John Prine type of line, simple and profound at the same time. One of many reasons to love these two is because they loved John. They quit the CMA because that group did not hone John Prine, Jerry Jeff walker, and Billy Joe Shaver.
The best songwriter alive, who shines brightest in this stripped-down setting. 'Dreamsicle' alone conveys a richer story in three minutes than most novels. All the tenderness, heartache and hilarity of growing up, in perfect, crystalline rhyme... and Amanda's fiddle just shatters me. Acoustic duo album when?
Now that John Prine is gone I really can't argue with your statement about Jason's songwriting skills. That Amanda is also an exceptionally powerful, wonderful, and honest songwriter just makes their union an even bigger blessing to us than their individual talents alone. With the depth of the joys and sorrows they write and sing of, it is difficult to remember they are still quite young (he will be 42 in February, 2021, she will turn 39 on 5 March, 2021). With any luck our world will be graced by their musical talents long after I'm gone and forgotten.

Check out Todd Snider’s Live from the Purple Building every Sunday. He’s a great storyteller and songwriter. Also a friend of these two and Prine was one of his mentors too
Just saw him live for the first time Sunday, started drinking again around a month ago. Lost a friend a year ago and as the anniversary came up I lost hold. A lot of issues both internal and external and drank the night before the show, up til sunrise and only for a few hours of sleep. Walk in there feeling like trash for him to open up with that first song and I don’t believe in any particular religion but I sure can take a hint when I hear one and that song almost had me in tears right off the rip with how much it felt directed at me. Can only hope to do better from this point on

You're exactly right. Writing honestly is a scary idea. It's putting it out for the world to hear. Vulnerable to rejection. I think that's why some try to polish it out of fear.
