    Huge fan of Andrew for a few years now. I always recommend him to people when they start bringing up how news is filtered. You can't make up the stuff that actually happens at these places. Glad he's getting a larger audience.

      To be fair, Andrew doesn't cover the news as such but what impact and impression people have and deduce from those news. I mean, I love his reporting but to call it news listening to drunk guys at a Trump rally or youngsters going on spring break and getting wasted isn't exactly what I'd call news. Instead he just hands a microphone to everyday americans and let them speak their mind. I wouldn't call that anymore newsworthy than reading Facebook posts from soccer moms.

      Hell yeah. In reality works like his will probably be well known for quite some time. He captures a rawness to our society that not many get to see or understand. We’ve had quite bumpy ride here in the US for quite some time now and I’m not too excited to see if the next election is going to be another shit show or not.

      @@sean78745 gonzo journalism is gaining popularity because of the independence that the internet has allowed for content creators and people in media. It just so happens that the internet has been most easily accessible for youth, leading to them finding this type of journalism. That being said, part of it also is that mainstream media is literally just punditry garbage with occasionally “on the ground” reporting that’s actually just done from an office building in the capital of whatever state or country they’re reporting on.

      I do find it a little funny how Andrew talks about independent journalism right after talking about how Eric & Jonah Hill helped him pitch a show, the doc is coming out on HBO, & this interview is being hosted by yet another large company.
      I'll watch, but the funding behind it does have me doubtful on its objectivity

      @@mystica7310 The best way to have hidden your weird agenda would have been to stop after the first question, allowing for a conversation. Sounds like, instead, you gave yourself the opportunity to espouse a mushroom worship. I've known a lot of people who've done mushrooms that had no such 'ego death'. I grew up in a time when they were abundant. you could get them every other day if you wanted. Those people went on to help ruin the world, most of them makin no positive difference for others or for the world around them.     Wow, I was protesting the John T Williams murder with SeaSol organizers in 2010. That was pretty shocking to hear he was part of all that! I left Seattle soon after, but it’s the third time I’ve heard mention of John T Williams in the past few years and it’s inspiring knowing how many people are keeping his name alive.

    Sometimes I disagree with Andrew and his "no stance" stance... but I realize that it is easier to deradicalize people who watch this stuff if you don't tell them what they should find to be crazy. The reasonable people he interviews look reasonable and the crazies look batshit. Just let them answer the question with that third sentence.

      He's one show...and he's actually falling for a RW narrative about "sides" and "MSM". This hostile 'both sides' is unsurprising (I predicted it long ago) but creates blinders. Been there, done that. We project so much hope on folks that do good, but this is just "one thing" as he says. We've long treated the Right as Sane, despite McCarthyism, Vietnam, Nixon, etc. They declined. They voted for this media world intentionally. "The Truth" is subjective. Big Lies are not. He's doing great work & it's fascinating to watch him work out reality, but in the end elections & political control count & "Both Sides" only served the bad guys.

      He does have a stance. He's a progressive, and personal friends with socialist advocates. Dude doesn't "not have a stance," he just knows that the brainwashed aren't the real villains, they're victims themselves and a symptom of the growing right-wing movement in the US.

      I think it's really important that he maintains his neutral stance. He mentions in the interview that he sees people close off when they view someone as "the opposition." While he wouldn't be wrong to fact check people it would absolutely lose him his seat at the table.
      This is especially true as he becomes more famous and recognizable. Radical listening as he calls it is the reason he's able to get such interesting interviews out of people.

H e thinks mainstream media is "Liberal", so he has no idea what that word actually means ...like most. He's not doing anything that radical here.     Radical empathy!!! This dude hit the nail on the head. Radical empathy is the way to TRULY be an impartial journalist and not become part of the story. Andrew is the last true journalist in America.
