- Sometimes inspiration comes on a walk, over the first morning coffee, or even in a dream. Sometimes a French lady messages you on instagram and demands you speak to her in French, because she is too tired.

I'm starting to think that most of tom's songs are actually funnier when you realise that they can be traced back to a single, extremely petty inciting incident, and this is just the song where he spells out what it was.

I am learning a second language and I can confirm I know this feeling. Mentally translating is hard when you're already tired, and translating for long periods of time is exhausting.

The instrumentation of the Instagram convo is so low-key but REALLY on point. I think that's what I love most about your comedy.
There's so much to love here. But my favorite part by far. Is the accordion. Does Tom play accordion? Where did he get an accordion? Did he have a spare accordion?He plays it twice at the beginning and then it appears to be a set piece for the rest of the video.
I absolutely adore the idea of this man buying an accordion just for this song. Just for the flavor. To be that much sassier.

As an English speaker with similar french experience, I have to say this is shockingly accurate to how the French act. I never really liked the language itself, but for some reason I always get a kick out of an obviously English speaker doing the stereotypical Frenglich accent. I've always loved it, like Spy from TF2 or Tom Cardy being a comedic genius.

This video helped me to have a short conversation with my French speaking friend. He asked me in the morning “how are you?” I replied “jes sui fatege “ he was like 😳 he really liked that.
