The peace out for Qing is broken and has been for a long time. You used to get offered a white peace as well
You can still get the white peace for Qing. Unfortunately, that involves using the console commands to tag switch to Japan to click on the white peace button.

as a tip, if you select your field marshal and "shift+clic" a frontline order it will not be divided between the armies under the field marshal, instead they will work together as a big army group

Just a few things to help hopefully:
1. To get your puppets into the war, right click them and call them in, though until nearing the end of china it was good they didn't come in as they hadn't any forces to hold their lines.
2. Ships takes wayyyyy too long to build, by the time you get ships the Americans would turn up and end the war... Use planes and transport planes then para drop into Japan, you can make a powerful plane really easily, with H. Machine gun, best body, best engine adding armor and the fuel thing.
3. garrison ports will try to take back any land across the coast, I am guessing it's so that they do not get encircled. If you do not care, then it's better to use fall back lines until you have enough divisions to basically throw around.
4. When China had their white peace, you took Korea, and china took most of the japanese states, however I am guessing the game gave land back to japan or something? as it was a white peace meaning that the puppet shoulda returned to Japans land.
I dunno if there's anything else, but hope those help in future games. Air is the best to have, always decimates the enemies if you have CAS, but if you allow the enemy air power it can slow you down.
edit: I guess, next time, if the war is taking a little bit and you are at war with Japan too, you can take your puppet troops and put them on port defense and keep them out of the war for China, that way you have your own built army taking territory with the crap AI army defending?
Hey, dunno if you're interested, but I just realised its possible to become HRE Emperor as JAPAN. (eu4)
And... not only to be HRE Emperor, but to also have Mandate of Heaven at the same time whilst being Catholic or Protestant.
I dunno if anyone else has ever tried this. Its definitely worth trying. I requires a lot of luck with events and either skill...
or like me.. lots of save scumming. Basically you go open events all the time instead of isolationist. Go for expansion and
exploration ideas and spread as quick as possible around Africa towards Spain & Portugal. Get Catholic as quick as possible.
War Castile & Portugal, take land in Europe, Move your capital to Europe. Meanwhile conquering mainland China and Indonesia
area as much as possible. Improve relations with all the electors, ally them, & save scum so the emperor never gets a child.
Try to do it before the league war or hope the Catholics win. With my playthru the protestants won, so I had to convert to Protestant
and improve with a whole new set of electors and ally them and un ally all the old ones etc and then re convert all my provinces
and force all my colonies and vassals to change religion again, which was a real pain in the ass. Im not even good at the game,
I'm sure some one who is good at the game could find this to be a very interesting and powerful way to play the game???
You could've forced japan to stay historical and let everybody else go balls to the wall in the options menu... just saying.

@@TheSocialStreamers Yep, you can force any country with a focus tree to go down a specific branch if you wish. Under custom game rules.
