Very unfortunate to see this beautiful scale helicopter crash.
The pilot spent many hours building this amazing aircraft. He added a lot of extra scale details.
Check out this video to see Carlos Clivilles' crash of the same Helicopter type.
• Roban Bell 429 Helicop...
Man, that sucks. I HAD the exact same Roban Bell 429 and I lost it in a horrific crash just 4 days ago. It was flying perfectly fine and then it suddenly lost the tail rotor. Turns out the spline on the front of the torque tube totally separated. I certainly feel his pain. Here's the video for it if anyone is interested in seeing what happened.

Sorry to see that! Thanks for the comment. Thank you very much for sharing your video! You are a good pilot. Your Heli decided to have a "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly".
Thank you, sir. I'm truly heart broken over losing that heli. I did a lot of modifications to it and it flew so well before that mechanical failure.
Not an uncommon failure point. Someone very familiar with Roban highly recommended pinning the ends to the torque tube.
It's all so far away, you can't really see anything.
Hi thanks for watching! Unfortunately the camera I used didn't have a zoom function. As usual for heli crashes, it beat itself to death. The tail rotor and boom were destroyed as was most of the cabin.
@@paulkrapp So a bit pointless to use that camera, then.
Keep filming, but use a suitable camera. 👍😀
@@julesdomes6064 I totally agree, thanks for the comment. 🙂👍
Several minutes of blue sky filming, I’ll never get that wasted time back!
Thanks for watching! I used the wrong camera for this video. My GoPro makes everything appear farther away than it is. You have to watch this on a big screen TV to see the flight better.
Played it back 5 times, never saw it...
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately my GoPro makes everything appear far away. Are you watching on a phone or computer monitor? The crash is at 3:30
@@paulkrappI'm using a phone, zoomed the whole screen, never saw it 🤷♂️
@@rogerbk08 Thanks for watching! I had no idea this video would get 39K views! I loaded the video to focus on how nice the helicopter looks, not the crash. Sorry, you need a large monitor or watch it on a TV to see the crash.
nice blue sky
Thanks for watching! The weather was perfect that day. 🙂🛩
Wow thanks a lot made me watch the whole video and couldn’t even see the crash there’s three minutes in my life I’ll never get back lol
Hi Aldo! Thanks for watching all 3 minutes and 45 seconds! You just need a larger screen than a phone to see it. 🙂👍 Do you fly RC? If you come to the Baldwin club we have extra planes and instructors to help you learn or you can fly as a guest if you already have a plane. We have a rock crawler course and dirt RC car/truck race track. Have a nice day! 😀👍🛩
Aldo ,you clearly have more than enough time for your masturbatory habits so what's 3 minutes?
Being that you're a massve w*nk*er and all...
Looks like he lost sight and of course orientation of the heli. Sorry to see your beautiful scale ship go in.
Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂👍 We think the battery gave out just as he was landing. I know the pilot and he has very good eyesight.
Very sad! That was a very good looking heli!
Thanks for watching. A close up of this helicopter can be seen on my flight line walk video. He had an insane amount of detail on it!
That sucks, indeed. What a beauty. I am not an aircraft guy, but had a drone (think short battery life), and I do 1/8 nitro and electric racing. First thing that came to my mind was that he was running it too hard and fast, like it was a fixed wing model aircraft. To me, those babies are meant for slow passes and hovering since they're so large and realistic. And with drone experience, just when your having fun, the battery is pretty much depleted. Sorry for his loss.
Thanks for watching! Yes you are 100% correct. This was a fixed wing flying event and the club president wanted helicopters to fly the same left-hand pattern. The pilot and spotter were discussing the timer and lost power just as he was coming in to land. You are more than welcome to come to our club field if you can come down to Baldwin, Mi. We have a dirt RC car track too!
Rule number one, don't have anyone yakking in your ear while you're trying to fly.
Thanks for watching! 🙂👍🛩 The battery died just as he was coming in for a landing.
Sorry for the crash, but waste of time watching this video, GoPro doesn’t work for distance filming.
Yep, sorry about that. You need a big screen to see it as it was far away. Please watch Carlos' video in the description. His crash of the same helicopter type is very spectacular!
Very sad😥, hope the heli can be fixed soon
謝謝觀看! 他是我的朋友。 我問他是否可以修好它。 🙂👍
That was a nice scale flight though!
Thanks for watching! Yes, he's a good pilot. He also flies turbine jets.
@@paulkrapp I love big scale choppers, but mechanical complexity is just too much for me. I fly simple electric planes, cars and small Eflite helis.
Would really need a mentor to get going.
And serious repairs or rebuilds? forget it.
@@MultiSkyman1 Yep, I know what you're saying. I also fly simple electrics and "Old School" Glo planes. Are you in Australia?
You have any parts left that are good? I'd be interested. I have the same heli only in blue and black
Hi, thanks for watching. I'm the guy holding the camera, not flying the heli.
That appears to be a really terrific forward airspeed for a helicopter. (I mean actual airspeed - not scale) I would wonder if the bird was overstressed, but I don't do RC helicopters. Just wondering...
I fly fixed wing planes as well. I don't have an answer for you. You brought up a good point. This was at a primarily fixed wing event. The club president wants all aircraft to fly a left-hand pattern. It's my impression that they discourage helicopters from flying in close to the pit area. In my video about 3D helicopter flying at the same event, the club president told a second helicopter pilot to land because he didn't want two flying at the same time. It's possible that this behavior contributed to the crash. He ran the batteries dead in less than 4 min. flying at full speed around the pattern.
@@paulkrapp Full scale airshows adjust flight profiles according to specific needs of the aircraft. The club president should not be setting a generic pattern for everyone. That beautiful scale model needs to be in close to be appreciated. As long as it doesn't overfly the pits/crowd. It's not an ugly Stick in a fun fly. I fly both fixed and rotary wing RC. If you want participation to continue the club needs to set fair safety rules tailored to each type of aircraft.
@@heeder777 Wow! Thank you for your comment! I agree with you 100%. B.T.W., our club just elected a new president. The old president is also the manager of the Baldwin City Airport where we fly. Our past president is very concerned about safety because he doesn't want the city counsel to shut down our flying operations.
The helicopter committed suicide as it couldn’t take that horrible music. Nice photography..well not really.
I agree the music is horrible! The president of our club plays it. I was using my GoPro to do the grid walk and turned to get the helicopter flight, but the GoPro doesn't have a zoom. I think it's funny that this is one of my worst videos, but it has the most views on my channel. 🤣Thanks for watching. 😃👍 Please check out some of the other videos on my channel. Have a nice day!
Ever since drones came out I just don't understand the continued interest in heli's. So limited. Too bad the crash was too far away. Best part of the video...
Thanks for watching and commenting! 😎👍 Some of us enjoy flying Scale models of actual aircraft. "Drones" are not models of anything that exists in full scale. Human carrying air craft based on drone tech are being developed, but are not practical yet. We will see them soon! I plan to get a better camera, but they are stupid expensive! Geeez! 😬
Somebody tell me how do you maintain orientation to an RC that vanishes in the blue skye? Still the guy is able to figure out the correct collective/pitch/yaw inputs. Unbelievable!
Thanks for watching! He has very good eyesight! Actually, I used the wrong camera for this video. My GoPro makes everything appear farther away than it is. You have to watch this on a big screen TV to see the flight better.
@@paulkrapp Did the helo get fixed or was totalled?
@@po902 It suddenly dove straight in and broke into many pieces. Not repairable.
@@paulkrapp Sorry to hear.
100 percent pilot error....flying the helicopter like a plane was a no no and not to mention too far away to enjoy..and I didn't hear his radio giving any time indicators either....
Thanks for watching! The pilot and spotter were discussing the battery charge just before it went down. The pilot was flying the helicopter the same as his turbine jet model. I thought it was very far away for a helicopter.
don't rely on timer. what if the lipo wasn't fully charged?
use voltage telemetry or good old voltage alarm on balance plug.
Demasiada velocidad para una maqueta, esas torsiones son para romper la maquina
Thanks for watching! 😎👍
what is your flight time with what lipo Please?
Hi again! 🙂 Not my heli, don't know the answer to your question. Normally he had a 4 min. flight time limit. He was coming in for a landing when it lost power and dropped. I will see him at the next event and get you the exact info. 👍
Wow, that's a VERY short flight time. Mine had a flight time of a solid 8 minutes.
@@carlos64030 I'll talk to him about it at the next event. Thanks for the comment. 🙂👍
@@paulkrapp 4 minutes ! with what lipo please is it a classe 600 ? or 700
@@did3d523 He was a guest at our club event. He is not in our club. I don't know the answer to your question. He may be at our next event in June. I will ask him those questions. Thanks! 🙂👍🛩
Wtf why don't you keep it so we all can see it mate??
Watch the video in the description if you want to see a good crash. Have another beer Mate! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺😆👍
Still looking for the crash.
Yep, sorry about that. You need a big screen to see it as it was far away. Please watch Carlos' video in the description. His crash of the same helicopter type is very spectacular!
all I saw was a little tiny speck of light blip… Was that it at the end of the runway miles down there filmed with a cell phone. Hmmm I've crashed my share of helicopters it's just money. This is what the hobbies all about it's going to happen
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting! I plan to get a better camera. I recorded this with a GoPro Hero 7 Black. I was doing a flight line walk with the GoPro when he decided to fly it. I didn't have time to grab my Sony Handy Cam. The GoPro makes everything look farther away than it really is. You can see a close-up of this heli in my flightline walk video. It's not just money, he spent many hours creating an exact scale interior.
@@paulkrapp yes I understand the work involved I flew a bell 222 for many years. The work hopefully for him is enjoyable it is for me but it is still a sad day to see it all wrecked I get it. But we have to keep smiling all the time in this hobby and not let any of it get to us. Because as sure as the sun will rise we will crash eventually. After being in the hobby myself for 40 years crashes don't even phase me anymore. I rarely crash because of my experience as a matter fact pilot error doesn't exist I have to have a malfunction so those are rare. My last crash was a radio blackout malfunction… I said oh crap as my machine was disintegrated and then instantly thought of ways to get back out flying hee hee… I was motivated for one thing and one thing only fly fly fly. Thanks for getting back to me I meant no disrespect.and I hope he's back in the air soon
Hey dude, if you're going to keep posting these vids and expect people to watch them. You had better get a better camera...
Ultimately the plan is to use a better camera. If you could donate $5,000 for a camera that would be awesome! Honestly I never expected this video get 28,000 views! Please check out Carlos' video in the description. His crash of the same heli type is very spectacular! Have a nice day! 😎👍🛩
@@paulkrapp ok, cool, no dis
@@jbear7580 If you're ever in the Baldwin, Michigan area we have four big events per year. Two shows are any kind of airplane model and two turbine jet events that bring pilots from all over the Midwest. It would be great to meet ya. Did you watch Carlos' video? Geeesss...that was horrific to watch! 😬lcmfa.com/
@Paul Krapp yeah, very sad, I still fly old-school top wing ,fuel. It's lound and messy. I'm thinking of trying elec. Thanks for the invite. Maybe I'll check it out...
@@jbear7580 Cool! We fly anything, all are welcome. My planes range from a 1987 vintage PT-19 with an Irvine .40 to Extreme Flight Electrics. 😊👍🛩
Can I assume you were using a 6S 32000 mah or greater battery pack. If so I guess you ran out of juice. Flight time of 3:30 is right on the edge. I say this because I flew a Hughes 500D the same scale factor as your Ranger. I brought it back to land at 3:15 and had 60% remaining battery capacity. 15 seconds more at WOT like you were flying would place it on the 50% margin.
Hi, thanks for watching! Sorry, I can't answer your questions because that is not me flying the heli. I'll see him at the next event in June and ask your questions. 🙂👍
@@paulkrapp NP
these days there is telemetry to tell you the voltage of battery.
even if the radio doesn't have that kind of functionality,
you can put voltage alarm on the balance plug of the lipo battery to warn you of low voltage.
you were so far away, maybe you crashed for that reason, helicopter was not in sight i think, sorry so much
Should learn to fly comfortably first before putting on a scale fuselage.
Thanks for watching! He had an unexpected battery failure. He is a very skilled pilot.
No wonder you crashed it mate
I must be very talented to hold the camera several feet away while flying a helicopter at the same time. 🤔🤣 (Your channel has no content.)
Holly Krapp ?! 😢
Thanks for the comment! 🤣 I've had a lot of fun with my name. His battery went dead just as he was coming in for a landing.
@@paulkrapp My Elem. School Teacher called this lil Cuban Imigrant boy , Revere. Those of those classmates left still refer to me as the Patriot .lol Sorry for your loss, Sir.
no video of crash
Hi, thanks for watching! Sorry, the crash is to far away to see with a phone. You can see it on a large monitor or big screen TV.
@@paulkrapp i looking for autopilot helico who have ATT mode with more than 45° angle max thanks !

I was not able to see anything ! What happened ??????
Hallo, thanks for watching! Do you live in Germany? I am purchasing a better camera. Future videos will be much improved. I grabbed my GoPro for this video, but it doesn't zoom in. He was coming in for a landing when the Heli inexplicably pitched straight into the runway. I haven't learned what went wrong. You can see the crash better if you watch on a large monitor.

Thanks for watching. 😎👍
Was good to see a heli being flown well more than 20ft away, just an unfortunate ending, - could have happened to a plane.
Thanks for watching! Good luck down there in NZ, the land of Burt Munro! 😀👍🏍
Yea he crashed because he couldn’t freaking see the damn thang
Thanks for watching. My friend has good eyesight, he flies 220 mph turbine jets. His heli decided to have a "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly".
Yup
I saw nuffin
There were two nuffins in the oven...one said "Wow, sure is hot in here!"...the other nuffin screams "Aaaahhh, a talking nuffin!!!"🤣😂
