- The Aiki Dojo 2 Minute Technique - 15 Different Iriminage Throws
Maria Murakawa, Aikido 4th Dan demonstrates the various iriminage (入り身投げ) techniques from different attacks. Irimi means “body moving or entering in” and nage means “throw.” Commonly most people do iriminage focusing on accomplishing the throw with their arms. However, we can see from the translation of the name that it is the body and not the arms which make the throw work. Let us know if you want us to do a full length video on this or any topic.

It’s always interesting to see what other dojos call these techniques. We call the throat striking technique “Nodotsukiage”, we call the “clothesline” technique “Iriminage” and the other technique where you stand side by side and raise your inside elbow or forearm to do the atemi to the face we call “Sayunage” . Some dojos just interchangeably call them “Kokyuho”
Yes. I think it varies from teacher to teacher.
Thanks for sharing Sensei 😊
Thank you Sensei! I appreciate all the different variations of Iriminage! Keep up the good work! Aloha!
Great job Maria san. Go iriminage.
She's not doing Irimi nage but Kokyu nage, Kokyu-ho, Sumi otoshi, Tenchi nage and a couple of irimi nages. Only a couple of examples are Irimi Nage. I like your channel keep it up!
Thanks John for watching and taking the time to comment
Pleasure... Next time, say she's working on the Irimi principle... seems more fitting
@@johnhills3085 I agree with you. But nice video!
I saw basic iriminage, en no iriminage, sokomen iriminage, chokusen no iriminage (though I would apply it to the forehead) , and one which I might class as sankaku no iriminage. The tachidori could be seen as maki komi, but most of the rest is kokyu nage.
👌🏻🌞
Maria!!! Awesome! 😀👏 Shoves in the face to David and Ken were the best. 👍 Invest in a better mic!!! Keep up the good work!!
👏 👏....
Isn't it one form of throw with different footwork?
Hello. Thanks for watching. Irimi means body moving in so there can be lots of different Irimi throws not to mention each one nuanced for the attack.
@@AikidoCenterLA lady on video mostly push guy on the face or neck with different footwork. Why it should be different techniques? Only 'cause of footwork?
