      Hello, thanks for watching!!! tips I would recommend is follow all protocols make sure your using AIDET. And most importantly make sure your patient demographics match wristband & correct order of draw. Pros easy draws, warm staff members, 0 contact rooms. Cons dealing with behavioral problems within the patient, hard draws, rude staff members, & lots of walking depending on how big the facility you work at. Getting pulled from one department to another department. Challenges would be don’t assume everyday will be the same. Dealing with hard draws, encountering patients who are on a herparin drip so they bleed excessively. However, my overall perspective is keeping a positive attitude, have confidence while interacting with patients, nurse(s)or other staff members completing draws in the correct order.

      @taquelia_not_tequlia  2 года назад

      Tbh your not working in the lab with MLT’s (medical laboratory technicians). You would be on the floor as a phlebotomist. MLT’s have their own department. And the test was lengthy but general basic questions that where asked while in school. Once you grow as a phlebotomist those questions that once seemed hard will become second nature. Hope this helps!!!😊

    And do you recommend working at a hospital first as a new phlebotomist or somewhere else where the pace is slower! bc I'm going to be a new phlebotomist (almost done with school!) I would love to gain experience but im not sure where should I start?

    • @taquelia_not_tequlia
      @taquelia_not_tequlia  2 года назад +5

      In my humble opinion I would recommend working in a hospital as a new Phleb tech. That’s where you will gain more experience. I’m feel like working in a clinic is more of a slower pace. I feel like every person that works in a clinic are more experienced and out grown the inpatient Hospital setting (walking, hard sticks) your working fast past all the time. Working in a Hospital you go to the patients. Outpatient the patients come to you and they’re not as sickly as inpatients. But don’t let the pace, patients behavior, walking etc discourage you.. I say go for it !!!

    Love this video! Im a newly certified phleb…what types of jobs did you start at straight out of school? I have no phleb work experience & most hospitals where I’m located won’t hire you unless you have 6months experience. Looking forward to your response Ty☺️

    • @taquelia_not_tequlia
      @taquelia_not_tequlia  2 года назад +5

      Thanks for watching! So for my clinical I worked in outpatient. I got hired on as inpatient at the same hospital. Although, I didn’t get hired on right away I was very frustrated. It took about 3 months later for me to finally get the job & you are right most jobs don’t hire non experienced lab techs. While waiting on the hospital to call back I would fill out applications for other hospitals & clinics and didn’t get a response & overlooked due to no experience so I know the feeling. What I would suggest would be contacting your school they are some what responsible for helping you seek employment. Good luck I hope this is informative!!!😉

      @user-zn5oo1tx6p wow that’s so unfortunate😔 in my state whatever program you graduate from your guaranteed with a job placement. I would recommend watching more phlebotomy videos, memorize basics skills the difference in tubes, practice identifying veins on family and friends. To help you strengthen your skills Call local clinics, hospital and try reaching out to those jobs your trainer is posting. Ask her can you use her as a reference etc eventually something will pay off I hope this helps ‼️💖😊
