Mateusz wanted to be part of the Rogue, he was also planning to do some Giant's Live comp but in the end of they year but only if it had similar events as Rogue. He is sponsored by Rogue, he had every intention to do the show. Once invitations were annoucned and someone asked him why he is not on the list, he replied with "shrug" icon.
No disrepect to Tom Evans or Luke, but they deserve spot much less than Kieliszkowski, Trey or even Pavlo. Also, Lucas Hatton would be my pick as well. I'm sick they would rather overpay women than invite extra athletes that surely deserve the spot in a such comp.

I find this statement problematic regarding the women. I found the women's event to be just as good if not better at arnold's. I do agree that Mateus not being invited is ridiculous though.

@@justinwynn2294 It's not about finding something "as good if not better". I find powerlifting more entertaining than football, but guess what, reality doesn't care about my opinion, it cares only about numbers it generates and sorry, football generates well more viewers than powerlfiting, so powerlifters are compensated well below what football players make.
Same goes for strongman/strongwomen. I also enjoy watching women compete, but it does not change the fact they are way less popular. Just by looking at IG follower's count - among 2024's Rogue list, men have median of 115k followers and women just 23k.
I just really hate this massive push towards equality, or actually equity. It creates more problems than it solves. For instance, Rogue has fixed prize pool for both, male and female competitors. It means they cannot really expand male's list to 12 or more athletes, because they would have to do the same with women's list and invite some atheletes that won't perform on the level as those who are part of the comp right now. I can only think of Gabbi Dixon to be worth inviting, maybe there is another Australian athelte that I don't remember, but women's athlete pool is much smaller and we don't want to see multiple zeroed events by roaster fillers.
Another solution would be to increase the prize pool for men so there can be extra invites that are well deseved like Kieliszkowski, Trey or Pavlo Kordyiaka, but again, this artificial move towards equity would crumble.

Rogue is falling flatter every year, and Brian's Shaw Classic and SMOE competition is surging forward as a premier major pro show. Bad invites, probably boring or untested events, and money is the only reason to even go, and SMOE is gaining a lot of financial traction. It also shows invitational shows are outdated. In a way I agree. I don't think Trey can win the show (but I also accept, that a surprise upset can happen anytime to any show). Like it's self defeating argument to in one breath claim that Trey should be in and Evans should not be in, cause he doesn't have a chance to actually win. Cause if the main point of the argument is to only invite those, who have a chance to win (based on past record), then it would cut down on a lot of potential competitors who are currently on the rise or might surprise us with a comeback after a time period of not living up to their potential.

I definitely think Mateusz should have gotten an invite though (are we certain he did not?) and if he doesn't think he will be ready by the time of the show he should turn it down and let someone else have the spot.
With Trey I am a bit more undecided. I don't know if his poor showing at WSM hurt him in this regard, even though it is clear he was still recovering from his injury. I think it's hard to say right now what shape he is in and if he belongs in the Rogue line-up. His performance at SMOE will tell the tale.
