As a hardcore salmon run enthusiast, Eggstra Work is still really really boring. I feel like it needs something more like one wave only spawns 2 of the bosses so you end up in steelhead hell, so something different happens. Then it can also have extra utilty for boss badge farming or something. Atleast now you can finally earn some scale from it though, took long enough for that to be added!
@@typachi I was hoping that was what eggstra work would end up being but I don't think Nintendo will ever implement an endless mode in any game mode. They couldn't even do that for Side Order.
I also don’t like Fresh Season 2023, but another thing worth noting with it is the addition of pools. That’s a game changer for a lot of people so I think it’s credit where credit is due
Thats true, pools are nice. Im personally not a huge fan bc its way more complicated than it needs to be, like why not just do lobby codes like mario kart 8 deluxe? I also personally rarely use pools so didnt think it was worth factoring into my enjoyment of the season, it is a nice feature though
drizzle season 2023 was my favorite season for so many reasons, mainly now bc of nostalgia, but just the fact that we got 2 great fun maps (crablegs my fav map in the game), some amazing music with good vibes, 2 special splatfests, an AMAZING mahi rework (2nd fav map in game), and just... during the holiday season, i absolutely ADORED drizzle season 2023

I know ppl don’t really like marlin airport, but I’m such a sucker for airport themed aesthetics that I always try to play when marlin airport is available

For me, the top 3 worst goes: Chill Season 22 Sizzle Season 23 because for me, it was so dull that I randomly took a long break for the season. Splatoon 3 just had this dead the water feeling for a bit during then. Fresh Season 23 mainly because Shooters are missing out on 3 specials in Splatoon 3, and by this season, Shooters were already half done with their second kits. I think Shooters being the largest class as well as the base class everyone learns from, that they should have no excuse for not getting access to every special. Imagine how many more people would play Zipcaster if we got Splashcaster.
Screen is such a bummer. Imagine waiting years for a second kit but it gets a special that literally hurts other players. And while I hated it at first, the double season catalogs make sense for repeating seasons.
Same! I can agree on Screen being a big downer for the season but honestly there's so much more hype than the downers. Positive: Neo Stamp, Pain Novo, S-Blast 91, CBlaster, Joe, Robo-Romen, Bluefin Depot, Barnacle & Dime Big Run, Chirpy Chips, Foil Squeezer (minus Screen), An Improved Splashdown, Increased Player Base due to Christmas, Hype Trailer Negative: Screen, Reef Deco, No Inkjet kits, Splashdown being negatively received a week or two into the season

2024 chill season is possibly my favorite season. Harmony is my favorite character so i loved the chirpy chips theme, robo rom-en is an amazing map, a lot of the kits were just alright but i was personally happy about the new pain brush kit, and i even like splashdown. The issues that splatter color screen caused was a huge misfire on nintendos part though.
Personally chill 2023 is a favorite of mine. Part of that is finally getting a second blaster kit, which I do actually like it despite the point sensor, but also the stages as you said, adding Joe, I do like the new specials (although I won't argue that screen's release was horrendous and I really wish the idea was done better), and No Quarters has become my favorite battle song, so there's that. I don't know if it would be my favorite, but I can't imagine ranking it that low personally
I played the first big run for like 20 minutes and then I was like… wait this is just salmon run on a different map? And instantly went back to playing turf war lol
i may be biased but my favorite season so far is sizzle season 2024 one bc it came out shortly after i finally started playing and two seasource was added which has become my number one favorite splatoon song

Table turf didn't have random online matchmaking but we did get pools that season I would play random people by joining table turf pool and it was amazing walking around the table turf tables and being able to spectate other people Switch who you spectate by walking to the other side of the table like irl
I kinda like kraken but i agree with that it shouldn’t have invincibility and it should take like 10-15 charger shots to take out a kraken because shooters can take down/max out a grey balloon pretty quick
My all time favorite updates: the latency update (my bestie), the one that added Salmon Run checkpoints, pool system, Big Run double scales, Tricolor for anyone to queue and go on either attack/defense regardless of halftime winner, challenges and adding timeslots for challenges. Map changes in general felt very nice to me. The worst update: adding splattercolor screen, anytime they nerfed Reef-Lux because I'm biased lol. I didn't like chill season 22 either but man do I love the three new weapons, definitely my favorites lol. But was it worth it for Marooner's Bay?....*cries* Fresh season 23 adding Kraken, why...Super Chumps are fun at least. I nearly forgot about the car pole. Chil season 23's terrible screen..... But yes, Robo Rom-en is so fun and extended challenge times is so good. Fresh Season 24 added Marlin and its in every rotation, I swear. I love Dousers, its such a fun weapon. Bonerattle Arena is great, got my gold 9's on the first rotation. Love bombing the Flyfishes in this map. Ooo I love Fizzbangs, so fun.
I really dont remember much of my time during these seasons but atleast I have some stuff to write about!(?) - L-3 D not getting the kraken was a hate crime, like c'mon - i like gloogas but i dont like the deco one for being a repeat kit of machine neo, the kit is nice but you know. I just also like vanilla kit alot more - big runs were always a fun time! My favourite maps were inkplot, umami and barnacle (what i remember) - I had to wait for how long for my main weapons' 2nd kits (sunder and explo) and sunder is nice (rip splat bomb + rain) and Cexplo is not for me. I love vanilla explo anyway
Agree with your chill season ‘22 analysis except for your take on wahoo world big run. That was far from the best map for big run or the best big run in general. Actually fuck wahoo world in general.
The nova slander is crazy. Nobody gets it, but the extra range over most other shooters allows it to stay out of distance and still hit most close-ranged weapons. It also allows the nova to harass long-ranged weapons. The location heavy kit is great because it allows you to know exactly where opponents are and adjust your distance accordingly. It's another case of Chara sheep chasing the meta too much.
Did you know that there's a multitude of other long range weapons that can do exactly what you just described but better because they have better damage and accuracy than the nova? Some of them (like the slattershot pro, dualie squelchers, jet squelcher, wellstring, and douser dualies) even have aspects of their kit that also has location tracking. ill admit that nova can be fun to use, but if youre trying to actually seriously win games there's quite literally no reason to use it. Im saying this as someone who's actually played the weapon quite a bit
I still think was a stupid decision to add a Splatoon 2 map on the Splatoon 1 themed season. Manta Maria is fine, but what's the point? 2 is literally available on the same console and SO MANY of the launch maps were already stages from 2. They could've saved Urchin Underpass or Saltspray Rig from being stuck on the Wii U.
my favorite seasons were probably fresh seasons 2023, chill seasons 2024 and sizzle seasons 2024, maybe add drizzle season 2023 to that list the best trailer was defiantly without a doubt chill season 2024, no quarters has no chills🔥🔥🔥
It's kinda sad that the game comes out unfinished and it takes 2 years for basic functions and bug fixes to be added to the game that should already be in on day 1. Splatoon has always been a not quite finished game. From lacking theme to stages floating in mid air like a bug test.

Honestly Recycled brella when it was first released was more disappointing to me because of the kit (I hate that they thought angle was a good sub pick for this weapon, its really not). I absolutely LOVE the mk 2 kit however, even though mist also sucks for it, because triple splashdown just actually works for it with combos and keeping up aggro.
I really liked the first 3 seasons of Splatoon 3, and then when we got Sizzle Season 2023, the game felt really worse for me. Horrible maps and horrible Kits. I ragequit the game during chill season 2023 because of many things that was bad from a good casual player So now i have only Splatoon 2 and not the 3, wich is amazing
Fresh Season 2024 was honestly my least favorite season in the game. Sure there was Side Order around that time, but literally all the weapons added were nearly useless because of how poor the kit design was at the time. I’m pretty sure the only survivors from that middling kit release was Squiffer, and Custom Explo/Nautilus because of the splashdown buffs. It was the first season I played where I had to stop playing after a few hours because it just wasn’t fun at all. Hot take but I love Chill Season 22, Flounder Heights was like the only map at the time that you could flank in, and Slosher Deco and Carbon were such fun additions to the game, but I do agree that Big Swig and Nova are straight up useless. The game wouldn’t feel any different without them imo
honestly i think seasons would have been better if it was JUST the catalogs changing every season instead of also adding new updates. Maybe if the devs had more time for the updates we wouldn't have gotten so many half baked updates and kits. (also friendly reminder that custom dualie squelchers are still at 210p, why.)
Also im gonna go on a bit of a tangent here but as a casual player who has been playing splatoon since the first game, i feel like s3's weapons and maps are the worst part of splatoon 3. Splatoon 2 had MUCH better kits and the weapons felt much better to use. (Most likely because maps in s3 are alot smaller) Turf war in splatoon 3 is also WAY more heated, i get that things are supposed to be fast paced but turf war is supposed to be a casual mode which at times it definitely doesn't feel like. And the grind for some things in the game is almost downright impossible (like the level 999 badge). But in the game's defense it does do better in most other areas like being able to choose your lobby, the jukebox, story mode and side order, etc.
a key factor you forgot about fresh season 2023 was the first wave of the expansion pass releasing, just saying would the return to inkopolis have impacted your rankings with fresh season 2023?
Fresh season 23 felt so dry especially after Chill 22 was __also__ very dry and its put me off playing until earlier today with the final(?) Big Run, after an entire year of not playing

Fresh 23 personally hurt me the most since it added neo sploosh, and we know how much garbage that sucked especially coming from a long time sploosh fan. Also for whatever reason, its the only content season post launch without a trailer.

@Diego-wl7wh well I mean I respect that opinion but I'll give you some insight as to why it's hated Map is crammed and awkward, lots of tight areas with not a lot of room to move, and the slopes heavily favor certain weapons over others It's one of the worst maps for defense, on tower control especially. The pushing team has the high ground, and the awkward map layout only amplifies this issue You're allowed to like it, but there's a reason you never see this map in tournies lol. Oh and btw only the long range dualies are mid there, literally one of the best dapple maps in the game and splat dualies and tetras feel good there

Mayyyyyybe from a comp standpoint, but I hard disagree since it's one of the few maps with a wide range of movement options and inkable walls, and back when it released it was a *godsend* for casuals like myself. Gotta hard disagree with that one, chief.
@ShadowXemnas13 I respect it! But yeah definitely from a comp perspective, and even from a "fun" perspective, at least for me, it isn't a great map. Lots of areas feel tight, awkward, and crammed. Defense is horrible since enemies pushing have the high ground
@@Chase247 Fair, it can get snowbally if you're not able to maneuver around the opponents and they start steamrolling, especially depending on the mode (I image it's worse in something like Rainmaker compared to Zones and Turf). The fact that I tend to use stuff like Wiper Deco and Explo probably makes the experience different too. 😅

I'll never understand the issue with splattercolour screen, how have people played the most colourful and fast paced game that overloads your senses anyways for so long, and only NOW freak out over literally limiting your senses in game? you see no more colours, all sound is dulled down, and the static is only noticeable after a fight when everything has gone silent. btw I've already been called an ableist for saying this for some reason, despite being disabled myself *with* sensory issues, so don't think you're special for "calling me out" when I ask a question, if anything you're an ableist at that point.
Just think of it this way: people react differently to different stimuli. What might seem normal and harmless to your eyes might be making someone else feel discomfort/pain. And that's really all there is to it. Even before they changed splattercolor screen initially, I was never bothered by it. But if a large number of people are expressing complaints with it, and for nintendo to actually go and change it, there clearly was an issue, and I respected how other people felt about it. That's all you need to understand
because loud sizzling noises and flashbangs (now reverse flashbangs) werent in the game before splattercolour screen was added :p the sudden change in brightness can be straining to the eyes and the sizzling can very easily cause sensory overload for some people people dont always experience things the same way you do everyone has their own lens they experience the world from

Fresh Season 24 added Marlin and its in every rotation, I swear. I love Dousers, its such a fun weapon. Bonerattle Arena is great, got my gold 9's on the first rotation. Love bombing the Flyfishes in this map. Ooo I love Fizzbangs, so fun.

- L-3 D not getting the kraken was a hate crime, like c'mon
- i like gloogas but i dont like the deco one for being a repeat kit of machine neo, the kit is nice but you know. I just also like vanilla kit alot more
- big runs were always a fun time! My favourite maps were inkplot, umami and barnacle (what i remember)
- I had to wait for how long for my main weapons' 2nd kits (sunder and explo) and sunder is nice (rip splat bomb + rain) and Cexplo is not for me. I love vanilla explo anyway
Agree with your chill season ‘22 analysis except for your take on wahoo world big run. That was far from the best map for big run or the best big run in general. Actually fuck wahoo world in general.
The nova slander is crazy. Nobody gets it, but the extra range over most other shooters allows it to stay out of distance and still hit most close-ranged weapons. It also allows the nova to harass long-ranged weapons. The location heavy kit is great because it allows you to know exactly where opponents are and adjust your distance accordingly. It's another case of Chara sheep chasing the meta too much.
Did you know that there's a multitude of other long range weapons that can do exactly what you just described but better because they have better damage and accuracy than the nova? Some of them (like the slattershot pro, dualie squelchers, jet squelcher, wellstring, and douser dualies) even have aspects of their kit that also has location tracking.
ill admit that nova can be fun to use, but if youre trying to actually seriously win games there's quite literally no reason to use it. Im saying this as someone who's actually played the weapon quite a bit
I still think was a stupid decision to add a Splatoon 2 map on the Splatoon 1 themed season. Manta Maria is fine, but what's the point? 2 is literally available on the same console and SO MANY of the launch maps were already stages from 2. They could've saved Urchin Underpass or Saltspray Rig from being stuck on the Wii U.
my favorite seasons were probably fresh seasons 2023, chill seasons 2024 and sizzle seasons 2024, maybe add drizzle season 2023 to that list

It's kinda sad that the game comes out unfinished and it takes 2 years for basic functions and bug fixes to be added to the game that should already be in on day 1. Splatoon has always been a not quite finished game. From lacking theme to stages floating in mid air like a bug test.
@@Boomtendo4tw yep! now they're probably going to try to "make up" for it in the last major update, by adding some stuff that should've just been there from the start. like how getting to ruler only NOW lets you take photos on the float, as opposed to winning a (most of the time) biased 100x or 333x

Honestly Recycled brella when it was first released was more disappointing to me because of the kit (I hate that they thought angle was a good sub pick for this weapon, its really not). I absolutely LOVE the mk 2 kit however, even though mist also sucks for it, because triple splashdown just actually works for it with combos and keeping up aggro.
I really liked the first 3 seasons of Splatoon 3, and then when we got Sizzle Season 2023, the game felt really worse for me. Horrible maps and horrible Kits.
I ragequit the game during chill season 2023 because of many things that was bad from a good casual player
So now i have only Splatoon 2 and not the 3, wich is amazing

Fresh Season 2024 was honestly my least favorite season in the game. Sure there was Side Order around that time, but literally all the weapons added were nearly useless because of how poor the kit design was at the time. I’m pretty sure the only survivors from that middling kit release was Squiffer, and Custom Explo/Nautilus because of the splashdown buffs. It was the first season I played where I had to stop playing after a few hours because it just wasn’t fun at all. Hot take but I love Chill Season 22, Flounder Heights was like the only map at the time that you could flank in, and Slosher Deco and Carbon were such fun additions to the game, but I do agree that Big Swig and Nova are straight up useless. The game wouldn’t feel any different without them imo
fr,, and i didn't even try with the catalog i only got up to level 30 something before giving up because i got so bored of the game
honestly i think seasons would have been better if it was JUST the catalogs changing every season instead of also adding new updates. Maybe if the devs had more time for the updates we wouldn't have gotten so many half baked updates and kits. (also friendly reminder that custom dualie squelchers are still at 210p, why.)
Also im gonna go on a bit of a tangent here but as a casual player who has been playing splatoon since the first game, i feel like s3's weapons and maps are the worst part of splatoon 3. Splatoon 2 had MUCH better kits and the weapons felt much better to use. (Most likely because maps in s3 are alot smaller) Turf war in splatoon 3 is also WAY more heated, i get that things are supposed to be fast paced but turf war is supposed to be a casual mode which at times it definitely doesn't feel like. And the grind for some things in the game is almost downright impossible (like the level 999 badge). But in the game's defense it does do better in most other areas like being able to choose your lobby, the jukebox, story mode and side order, etc.

I think fresh 2024 was by far my least favorite season; it added hardly any new kits, only one new stage, and two mediocre new weapons. also both marlin and bonerattle felt kind of underwhelming. also, it had some of my least favorite battle music since launch. I liked suffer no fools, though.
Overall i agree with you but the flounder slander is completely unjustified. That map fu@#&*% rocks! Its like a jungle gym where you get to bounce around and suprise people.

@@Chase247 i am a comp player, still disagree, there are horrible stages in this game and i dont find flounder to be one of them, sure its not as good as it was in splatoon 1 but its still atleast decent and playable compared to a lot of them, and even from a non-comp pov its one of the more fun ones and one of the few ones where walls actually mean something, its a downgrade from splat 1 but literally dont get the flounder hate at all lmao

Map is crammed and awkward, lots of tight areas with not a lot of room to move, and the slopes heavily favor certain weapons over others
It's one of the worst maps for defense, on tower control especially. The pushing team has the high ground, and the awkward map layout only amplifies this issue
You're allowed to like it, but there's a reason you never see this map in tournies lol. Oh and btw only the long range dualies are mid there, literally one of the best dapple maps in the game and splat dualies and tetras feel good there

Lotta interesting takes here, but calling Flounder Heights a bad map? Mayyyyyybe from a comp standpoint, but I hard disagree since it's one of the few maps with a wide range of movement options and inkable walls, and back when it released it was a *godsend* for casuals like myself. Gotta hard disagree with that one, chief.
@ShadowXemnas13 I respect it! But yeah definitely from a comp perspective, and even from a "fun" perspective, at least for me, it isn't a great map. Lots of areas feel tight, awkward, and crammed. Defense is horrible since enemies pushing have the high ground
@@Chase247 Fair, it can get snowbally if you're not able to maneuver around the opponents and they start steamrolling, especially depending on the mode (I image it's worse in something like Rainmaker compared to Zones and Turf). The fact that I tend to use stuff like Wiper Deco and Explo probably makes the experience different too. 😅

In competitive play it's arguably the worst map in the game and that's the lens I view it through. Also dualies aren't bad there

@@Chase247 yea it is hard to actually get bosses and goldies directly to the basket but I still think it's a very fun and flexible stage, the gimmick is especially fun. Also Junction is a good one I'd say it's my third favorite salmon run stage

I'll never understand the issue with splattercolour screen, how have people played the most colourful and fast paced game that overloads your senses anyways for so long, and only NOW freak out over literally limiting your senses in game? you see no more colours, all sound is dulled down, and the static is only noticeable after a fight when everything has gone silent.
btw I've already been called an ableist for saying this for some reason, despite being disabled myself *with* sensory issues, so don't think you're special for "calling me out" when I ask a question, if anything you're an ableist at that point.
Just think of it this way: people react differently to different stimuli. What might seem normal and harmless to your eyes might be making someone else feel discomfort/pain. And that's really all there is to it.
Even before they changed splattercolor screen initially, I was never bothered by it. But if a large number of people are expressing complaints with it, and for nintendo to actually go and change it, there clearly was an issue, and I respected how other people felt about it. That's all you need to understand
because loud sizzling noises and flashbangs (now reverse flashbangs) werent in the game before splattercolour screen was added :p
the sudden change in brightness can be straining to the eyes and the sizzling can very easily cause sensory overload for some people
