Seeing more appreciation of Splatoon music is always amazing! Also 5:20 ...Oh my goodness I never realized how out of context this game could be like "GET THE DARN CRAB" or "THERES THE SOUND GET THE SODA"
my favourite thing would definitely have to be 3, the tacticooler one. the idea of ink armour/bubbler being reworked into a special that: 1. doesnt make you invincible/can tank oneshots, instead giving you useful buffs 2. makes people have to move to a specific location to get it and don't get another chance to live simply because some guy pressed the R stick on the other side of the map, 3. the change of the meta its brought with it being able to revive blasters and up viability for so many weapons and up the pace of games really well
I think one of the most underrated things is just having fights in middle when everyone is using their specials and just fighting. It really shows off the chaos and fun of this game. ALSO COMMON ZIPCASTER W
On the topic of music, Splatoon 3's style feels just so right up my alley when it comes to music. It's rough, it's heavy and it's loud. It's just the way I like it, and I'm sad that both of my favorite bands (H2Whoa and Riot Act) just won't ever appear again because that's kinda how it goes with Splatbands unless they're *mega* popular. Those two bands made me realize that I wish Nintendo just kept expanding on the bands they already have instead of just continuing to add new ones that just get two songs and nothing else. In any case, I blast those songs for around 15 minutes every time I'm in the mood to listen to them. I really love them.
Splatoon songs can definitely take some getting used to at first, but once you've warmed up to them, you realize that they're actually absolute bangers
A cool thing I like they did in S3. They took Reeflux, a weapon that started as Aerospray on a bow and changed by patches by focus less on painting and special spamming and instead more of a midrange fighter. They could easily over nerfed it to the ground like they have done with every weapon that was really good at one point but instead they changed the playstyle of the weapon that's more fun and interesting and I like it. The only actual nerf it got with no upsides if giving it more points for special which... Yeah for a weapon that paints really well and has MISSILES, might be a blessing in disguise. ... If only it got a good second kit than the one that we actually got.
Big note on grizzco splatana, you have one of the best mobility options in salmon runs specifically. The ability have have guaranteed feet paint and high strafe speed means you are never stuck in salmonid ink. You are only slow while charging. But with just swinging you are almost sploosh levels of freedom in salmon run specifically.
Even still it's appreciated to have paint support if your teammates can roll something that paints well. Like in an all gold rotation, one of the best pairings imo is grizz splatana + grizz brella, grizz brella is the best painter in salmon and it's not even close
@@sonicrunn3r895 stamper doesnt need brella because paint support isnt necessary when everything is dying. The best grizzco comp is really just 2 chargers a slosher and a stamper because charger paint is just as good but it can actually do damage
@@Aegisdex It doesn't necessarily NEED it, but sometimes it's nice to have. Especially in freelance specifically. But it's not like you can control what you get anyway, but ultimately unless you end up with four stampers (even then far from the worst set up of all grizzco weapons possible) you'll probably be fine with any of the others
One thing I also like is that in exchange for its limited paint-outside-feet, the Splatana is good against both bosses and Lessers. I find a lot of players underestimate how important mopping up the crowds are when you need to do things like aim at Steelheads or take your ink down for a Flyfish Bomb, and the Splatana solves that issue on either end of the equation since its swing can two shot Cohawks with piercing to basically lawnmower through them. It's a trait I think makes it superior to the Grizzco Slosher as the ultimate Slayer weapon, since its ink efficiency helps a lot at clearing things for or waiting for teammates, and there isn't any boss it's particularly bad into besides maybe Fish Sticks without climbing paint.
I wish it had more music at the very least, because as good as the song (& last 3 turns theme) is, it gets SUPER STALE, SUPER FAST. Which is a bit disappointing when we have a whole jukebox of music to choose from. I understand why Regular Battles & Salmon Run doesn't let you choose just any music, but Table Turf should at least allow us to unlock the ability after a certain rank.
My favorite detail is that whenever you change plazas, the ink sloshing at the start of the game will change. If you have the S1 plaza the colors are blue and Orange, S2 plaza gives you green and pink!

One of my favourites is the Douser Dualies FF - they are based on fire extinguishers, and the FF in their name is an acronym of firefighter, but they also deal 25.5 damage - and FF, when converted from hexadecimal, is 255, which is so damn cool. Details like that almost give splaton an indie game sort of charm to it. EDIT: I also absolutely love the Side Order soundtrack, notably the weird ones. Personal favourite is souv3nir.

@@unebaguette9745 Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they added another one of those pillars to mid.. It would just strengthen the identity of the map: HALLWAY SIMULATOR :)
If Zipcaster isn't the most fun special in the series, I don't know what is. I mained carbon roller (not deco) in Splatoon 2, so seeing it get Zip in 3 was crazy!
One thing I appreciate about ink vac and cooler is that they diversify the support role. Before Splatoon 3, we saw support as a simple hp buff. But now, it can be so much more, like a movement buff or preventing the opponent to paint
I like the squid roll parry thing, it’s hard to get used to but makes defending yourself super interesting, especially if the weapon you’re playing has mobility or a jump mode like dualies or s blast
roll speed ahead was so hilarious and it was fun to experiment with wierd strategies. I figured out that you can actually jump over the rollers, and it wasn't easy to pull off the timing, but when you did, it was the most hilarious thing ever. I got this one clip of me absolutely disrespecting someone by splatting them after jumping over their roller.
I wholeheartedly agree with #7. I mained Octobrush at the beginning just to play Zipcaster. Wasn’t great at it but it was fun as hell. Love being able to do whatever a spider can
Really happy to see some appreciation for all of the work placed into Splatoon 3’s game feel and aesthetics! There are people on the team who have poured their hearts and souls into this game that must be stoked to see their work is being recognized :) Hard agree on Undertow’s aesthetics too- it actually feels like it utilizes the theme for the Stage’s layouts (something most of 3’s Maps skip out on), and I hope that the rework expands upon that!
I know I’m a bit late, but I also wanna chime in with something I’ve personally enjoyed - the Inkjet challenge. Fighting with Inkjets is so bad and hard and stupid yet I love how everyone just *knows* that if two inkjets lock eyes, they duel in the air In all the matches I played during that challenge, one stuck out to me - in a game on Humpback, literally no one shot at eachother purposefully when on the ground. Everyone let their teammates and members of the other team get their specials and then only duked it out in the air. Of course, people would paint the zone, but they’d only go aggro whenever they had a jet. It was so stupid and yet I loved every second of it
I find it a funny coincidence that this vid where you mention really liking Undertow comes out hot on the heels of confirmation that the Patch this week will be renovating the stage, and looks like part of the left of spawn will get EVEN BIGGER. I enjoy Undertow too, so it being the next stage to get a major update is very interesting.
One thing I really like about this game is the fact they kept deluge dirge as the salmon run theme song, it's an absolutely perfect song for salmon run I don't think they could've topped it honestly
Oh hey, the Grizzco Splatana inkling in the thumbnail, that's me! (Great video, by the way x) I love seeing people talk about things they love in this game!)
When splatoon 1 came out, i thought it was a silly little game for elementary school kids, but ive really found that a lot of older and college-age folks love to play this game competitively. When I started getting into Splat3 for my first game, it brought back the nostalgia of my old gaming days on TF2. I made it to S Rank, but kind of stopped there when other stuff needed my attention.
8:27 Maybe base super jump will have stealth jump by default, and there can be another shoe ability called "Stealthier Super Jump" and it works like Splatoon 1 where you are undetectable until you land.
I’ve been doing a personal project for a list of my own splatoon updates, reworks, catalogues and the works and this has done a ton to help!! Hearing thoughts on the game helps give me a ton of ideas!!!!
I agree that the hub themes in alterna are super chill, unique and fun to listen to even outside of the game. I just wanted to mention that a part of the reason that two shadows in the sun (your outro) sounds so unique is that it is in mixed meter. That means that the song is not in one time signature for the whole song. If you listen carefully, the beat follows a pattern that repeats every 4 bars. One bar in 3/4 time, which has 3 beats in a bar, followed by a bar of 4/4 time, which adds an extra beat, and then two measures of 3/4 again. This extra beat creates a really cool rhythm that extends that one bar and makes the song sound very different. Sorry for the long yap lol
-1 cool thing, you cant make you caracter left handed. All they have to do is to mirror the animations and the weapons and just the logos they slap on them. Left side peeking would be an unusual way of updaiting the gameplay that can be realy interesting especialy if you can somehow change it on the fly with the side arrows on the Dpad or some thing like that. It would also make stages with axial symetry at least acceptable if not equal to stages with point symetry.
Yeah if they’re not giving us more communication options the could at the very least have the buttons he used for that. My idea is that it also changes depending on the weapon class, so for example with Stringers, you’re able to change if the shots travel vertical or horizontal regardless if your standing or not. With Rollers you could switch between horizontal and vertical flicks. With Dualies you could switch between turret mode and normal mode. With Sloshers you could change if your chits curve or not (they would also have to add curving to Tri-Slosher if they did that). I don’t have any more ideas for the other classes so tell me what you can think of :)
@@Olavi_VLIi.47 either they add left handed characters or the shots and other hitboxes like brushes roling come from the center to not have the problems right side peeking does to the map design. For stringers, rollers or s-blast your idea is good but it should end there. Dualies with turet mode not stuck in place is broken, the only dualie that doesen't get stuck in place in turet mode is the dualie squelchers and it does nothing exept making it have slightly less rng to comensate for the mobility it gets with rolls.
I'm kinda bad at using the Grizzco Splatana's charge attack, I often get myself splatted, haha! But it still works brilliantly for crowd control as the vertical swing deals with most enemies, it's awesome! :D
A few days ago I played s2 just to take a few screenshots for a collage, and here's the thing: I love Splatoon 2, I think it gets way too much hate, it introduced so many incredible things to the franchise and it holds a special place in my heart. But after playing like 3 games, my only thought was "wow, I really wish I had tacticooler". I think that's a sign of good special design, a special so good that when I play a completely different game I miss it.
THANK YOU for this upload. It's refreshing to get Splatoon content highlighting the beauty in this game as opposed to so much complaining. I love Splatoon and sure it has it's flaws but it's sad when the hate gets put on a pedestal.
Booyah Bomb is one of the coolest looking specials in the game in my opinion, and feels awesome to use (i also like Tri Splash and Ink Vac, dont kill me please)
heres a stealth jump complaint; in splatoon 1 ur team mates could see ur stealth jump marker normally like if u didnt have the ability while in 2 n 3 both teams were affected by it. idk why they changed that its weird
One thing i like about 3 is the UI changes like seeing what sub and special everyone has in the map menu i was about to say that stealth jump increases super jump time so i prefer not to use it, but i just checked and that was only in splatoon 1. I guess i just assumed it was still a thing because it would be mirroring the swim speed nerf that ninja squid has, but for super jumps. Well now im gonna we using it more now The only other missed opportunity with bringing back 1 and 2’s hubs is the arcade games and squid beats not returning.
It's funny how number 17 talks about how ProChara's ending soundtrack is one of the alterna soundtracks, yet he instead put a different song into the ending.
I would love Stealth Jump being rolled into the base set of abilities. I think it's great, but its only issue is that it SUPER invalidates the other gear abilities. How many times have you said "Oh, I'd love to use Object Shredder! oh wait but i need stealth jump" like, there SHOULD be a trade-off, but stealth jump is so good compared to "a little object damage" oh, and obligatory drop roller mention it's drop roller
I'm not sure if this was in 2, but inkopolis square has Parkour that can actually be difficult My favorite one is using the presplatfest blocks to jump onto the speaker outside Off the Hook's studio
I wanna say all the small QoL things that 3 made as well as little things that aren’t too impactful for gameplay but are neat to check up on, like Lockers, Also, S3 was an opportunity for me to actually experience this game with friends, just as a personal minor thing that makes me enjoy the game
4:57 honestly these are the sole reason why i have a gambling addiction in splatoon now LMAO. the hopes of getting a banner and title combo i'm looking for is huge (i want one of those computer windows banners with the "ultra beast" title combo but i'm not too picky since there are A LOT of those) 5:20 my favorites have to be sloshing machine and splatanas for this section. like an outsider would assume a weapon nicknamed machine is a well...machine gun but wrong, washing machine bucket. also people wouldn't assume something called wiper and stamper by the community would resemble a katana and a chainsaw while their names perfectly fit for what they are, a car wiper and a date stamper
Out of context competitive Splatoon call outs will never not be funny. Weapon names like Blobblobber and Slosher are said in serious call outs or pointing our Sprinklers or Bubbles. "Pencil dropped a cooler" is an actual situation that can happen and it's so funny with no context. God, I love how everything is named.
There was a time that people thought the Bloblobber was a toilet and not a bathtub. And now all I see of it is a toilet and the idea of beating someone with a toilet is funny.

ProChara acknowledging the PM Seymour video is something I didn’t know I needed.
roll speed ahead was so hilarious and it was fun to experiment with wierd strategies.
Love being able to do whatever a spider can
8:20 very interesting idea
Really happy to see some appreciation for all of the work placed into Splatoon 3’s game feel and aesthetics! There are people on the team who have poured their hearts and souls into this game that must be stoked to see their work is being recognized :)
Hard agree on Undertow’s aesthetics too- it actually feels like it utilizes the theme for the Stage’s layouts (something most of 3’s Maps skip out on), and I hope that the rework expands upon that!
I know I’m a bit late, but I also wanna chime in with something I’ve personally enjoyed - the Inkjet challenge. Fighting with Inkjets is so bad and hard and stupid yet I love how everyone just *knows* that if two inkjets lock eyes, they duel in the air
In all the matches I played during that challenge, one stuck out to me - in a game on Humpback, literally no one shot at eachother purposefully when on the ground.
2:53 I'm literally an octobrush main because of ultra stamp lol
I loved this video, I love seeing positivity in the community :]
8:20 I hate the fact it only works if they're far away from you but other than that it's perfect
I gotta give credit to whatever dev sat down and said "Alright, we have GOT to give that skateboarding jelly in the Square their own mini skatepark"
5:12 This is so cute
5:18 "Hi Cookie!" THAT'S SO CUTE
Great video and great edit by Cookie!! Thanks
I love yoko and the gold bazookas because it’s the longest title and yoko and the plastic ono band is one of my favorites.
-1 cool thing,
you cant make you caracter left handed.
1:57 This is what people who don't play Splatoon imagine the game to be like lol And I'm here for it
I'm kinda bad at using the Grizzco Splatana's charge attack, I often get myself splatted, haha! But it still works brilliantly for crowd control as the vertical swing deals with most enemies, it's awesome! :D
As a Main Range Blaster use, I can agree Range feels very good in this game and It makes me so happy! I just hope I can get the burst bomb again...
All the Splatoon battle tracks fit for what the game is and conveys a different part of the trilogy in my opinion
One thing i like about 3 is the UI changes like seeing what sub and special everyone has in the map menu
i was about to say that stealth jump increases super jump time so i prefer not to use it, but i just checked and that was only in splatoon 1. I guess i just assumed it was still a thing because it would be mirroring the swim speed nerf that ninja squid has, but for super jumps. Well now im gonna we using it more now
The only other missed opportunity with bringing back 1 and 2’s hubs is the arcade games and squid beats not returning.
How many times have you said "Oh, I'd love to use Object Shredder! oh wait but i need stealth jump"
like, there SHOULD be a trade-off, but stealth jump is so good compared to "a little object damage"
oh, and obligatory drop roller mention
it's drop roller
I'm not sure if this was in 2, but inkopolis square has Parkour that can actually be difficult
My favorite one is using the presplatfest blocks to jump onto the speaker outside Off the Hook's studio
Full speed ahead challenge was the most fun challenge I played in a while.
I personally agree with like everything also my mind was like huh on some of the more competitive stuff
I wanna say all the small QoL things that 3 made as well as little things that aren’t too impactful for gameplay but are neat to check up on, like Lockers,
Also, S3 was an opportunity for me to actually experience this game with friends, just as a personal minor thing that makes me enjoy the game
4:57 honestly these are the sole reason why i have a gambling addiction in splatoon now LMAO. the hopes of getting a banner and title combo i'm looking for is huge (i want one of those computer windows banners with the "ultra beast" title combo but i'm not too picky since there are A LOT of those)
5:20 my favorites have to be sloshing machine and splatanas for this section. like an outsider would assume a weapon nicknamed machine is a well...machine gun but wrong, washing machine bucket. also people wouldn't assume something called wiper and stamper by the community would resemble a katana and a chainsaw while their names perfectly fit for what they are, a car wiper and a date stamper
Yeah, i agree with you on S2s music. Wet Floor and Fins and Fiddles are good, and Wet Floor is a given, bit the rest? Nah.
4:34 amazing timing lol, it getting a rework announced the same day
Wait. . .THE UNDERTOW CHANGE IS REAL?
S2, shaking in its boots, realizing it might end up with the worst map list once again.
I used to dislike Zip because I couldn't figure it out. I gave it another shot recently, and I love it now!
God, I love how everything is named.
i think why ramen feels so good is because it is finally embraces verticality again
I enjoyd curling hurl, the one shot roll was fun
There was a time that people thought the Bloblobber was a toilet and not a bathtub. And now all I see of it is a toilet and the idea of beating someone with a toilet is funny.
I always call it a urinal
The fact chara knows what dragonball is shits crazy
it's cool to see actual positive stuff about the game I love 🤣
IM SHARKING THE CRAB
DREAD DUMP THE SQUARE
TOUCH THE POLE
I love this game
5:38 Watching this section made me realize that "Kraken Cheese" sounds absolutely disgusting out of context and I'm not sure how to feel about that
