I'm not pretending to be the world's best intern (lol), but I hope me sharing my learnings from the experience I do have can help someone out. 🦋 I hope you find work experience that resonates with you and your goals!
Hi Jade, hope you are having a great time, I recomend you check out Ali Dawah's channel he is from London and does conversations with people on Speakers Corner and talks about many interesting topics and questions people have... If I were to visit England I would totally go there for a visit, it is one of my dreams he has educated me a lot, I have been watching his videos since so long! ...byee🥰
When she’s wearing her purple puff sleeves , you know whatever she’ll be talking about will be life-changing. 💗🙂 Also I look forward to watching all of jade’s videos but reading her casual magic of the day in the description just makes my day!
I think the aim of an internship is not to be the best, but learn the most you can and to gain working experience. I think internship providers are more happy to have someone that made progression in the way they deal with things and work then someone that is already the best.
This video is literally just what I needed, I'm trying to find an internship and it seems impossible. Especially in the field I want to work in. Thank you for this video!
As someone who recruits interns I can say: your tips are so gold. Of half of the applicants would keep these things in mind it would make finding great interns way easier. 🙈
Honestly, these strategies might work well with big, progessive companies and for interns who want to high profile jobs and a shooting star career. But if you want to work with a smaller, more classic, down-to-earth company... well, in my experience, they won't hire the know-it-all who dares to tell them in her internship-application how she (an _intern_ with no degree and no real-world work experience whatsoever) could help the company. There's a good chance you won't have a manager who's "babysitting" you and no one will ask you for your opinion. I'm not trying to hate or spread negativity. I'm just saying not everyone needs a breathtaking career like Jade and that's perfectly fine, just realise that there is no perfect way to find an internship/job that works for every line of work ;)
@@lucysmart6472 There is no degree for "working in restaurants and supermarkets". And that'a why experience is more important. But for jobs where degree is involved - a lot of companies care about it. You cant even come to interviews without a degree. Maybe in economy, if you started your own business and such, but engineering, law.... forget about it lol.
@@dominikavolgina4189 Ok? And how is that relevant to my comment. If you are talking about Jade - her selling points are: being a student at college where she took economics/marketing classes, and gaining 500k on youtube (marketing herself). That's how she got internship in marketing. She is not a regular person with "some experience" in marketing. They like to hire students because they are on path of getting a degree. Also, like I said, economics ay be different. If she wanted to get a law internship with no degree/not studying law... yeah good luck with that.
I probably just noticed a typo a minute after posting the comment (happens all the time) and edited it ;) Also I just wanted to clarify, I'm not saying Jade did anything wrong or that it's bad that a 20 y/o has never worked in the classical sense. It's not. And it's obviously a good strategy for the kind of company where Jade applied. But from my experience in a completely different industry that kind of confidence won't get you far. I know people who got fired because they voiced their own opinion while being only an apprentice. I just geared that comment towards the younger part of Jade's audience because some might think that this is the way to apply for _any_ internship (it's not) or they might be intimidated by Jade's impressive CV (they shouldn't).
This was, by far, the most inspiring and useful advice anyone could have condensed into a video for public viewing on the internet. I also feel, the journey itself and the post internship reflection is applicable to every one across the stages of work life! It applies to people entering the work force as employees straight out of college, and even someone who has been working for a couple of years. Thank you so so much for putting the time and effort you do into these amazing informational advice videos, Jade! This honestly felt like a call that I would have for advice with a senior of mine :)
Wow, I wish RUclips had more people like you, radiating light and passionate to help others. This video comes at a perfect time for me! Hugs from Spain. X
The world needs more people like you!! You’re one of the sweetest, kind and cheerful person I’ve ever seen in my entire life!! You’re inspiring me so so much and I’m happy for following you r channel!! Love from Italy!!
This is why i love jade- she’s so down to earth she not only give out tips, she actually hands out her own resume and cover letter just to help us??? Love you jade
Thank you for being so real about internships, Jade. I feel like career advisers often skip over some of the most important parts which you said, like REFLECTING on the experience (not just preparing). So I really appreciate your point of view!! 💛
Well done Jade, this is exactly how it works. Connection is everything. LinkedIn is a great start as you mentioned. Appreciate your efforts in making this informative video and sharing the templates for others to work on with.
Reasons Jade should watch "Anne with an E": 1. The protagonist is soo Inspiring!!! Full of butterfly energy🦋 2. The show covers a lot of important topics like BLM, religion beliefs, feminism, LGBTQ+ issues, education, gender bias, human rights etc... 3. The whole show is very aesthetic 4. It has an amazing sound track!🎶 5. It gives a different perspective on life. 6. Anne( the protagonist) is just like jade. You both can vibe together! 7. Jade and anne both are into puff sleeves ( you'll understand when you watch the show) 8. Your best friend Ruby loves this show! It is one of her favourite. 9. Finally, this show is all we need in 2020 PLEASE LIKE THIS COMMENT SO THAT JADE CAN SEE THIS! Thank you.

Hi Jade! I study fashion marketing at Uni of Manchester & just started my 3rd year placement at a fashion company as a buying intern! Worked 4 days so far and I’m loving it! Loved this advice💫💜xx
I was ABOUT to search this up because I am looking for an internship next year and your video was the first thing on my recommended! THANK YOU JADE, WE LOVE YOU!
Lockdown has made me go inward full-time and focus on doing things for the sake of their own substance...the prospect of even attempting to get an internship right now feels surreal, but I know I have to step into the "real world" soon, especially with the dawn of the academic year approaching.
You are amazing! Intelligent, kindhearted, precious, beautiful, extraordinary, perfect! I love you! I am going through a very painful stage of my life and your videos make me feel better, thank you so much I wish you the best! Love you
Thank you so much for the CV/cover letter templates and the super helpful advice!! I am definitely the kind of person who would rather put in more effort on fewer applications, rather than sending out a generic CV to everyone, so I appreciated hearing your take on that. As always, you made my day better
You are amazing as always.....That smile on your face hypes me up.... Thank you Jade....You are such a good and great inspiration.... Currently, I am working on my NOTION account, I am trying to personalize it as yours.... Thank youuuuuu kind soul... I think it's our turn to say that YOU ARE ENOUGH.....
This is honestly such a huge sign from the Universe. I mean I have just been trying to figure out how to get an internship and this video pops up! Jade you are incredible and your timing is impeccable!
This is literally THE BEST timing. I was just done calling a bunch of people for an internship and was getting so frustrated because it didn’t go well that I decided to give up for today and just watch youtube hahaga and the first video I see is yours!
I'm a few years older than you Jade, and kinda thought I had the whole work/networking thing down but this just taught me so much and I'm wishing I was 19 again!!
ahhh i'm so grateful for the videos jade puts up on RUclips! they have always seemed to be so relevant in my life (I don't know how she does it) and helpful to me!!
So happy I ran into this! I'm currently in the middle of my internship with a international NGO (MakeEveryWomanCount) and honestly I've been meaning to communicate more with my supervisors and colleagues, so thanks for helpful advice Jade!
Thank you sooo much!! No other youtuber i know has been so generous and helpful to give a copy of their CV to help others, truly a kind loving soul you are Jade 😍❤ your positivity brings me hope and peace 😘😊 🙏👏👍
Wow Jade, this video could not have come at a better time for me! I have just started looking for an internship for next January and I have been struggling to actually start sending applications and networking because it will be a very important internship for me so I've been quite stressed about it and the way I cope with this kind of stress is: delay what I have to do (which is obviously counter-productive). This video is giving me motivation to GO GET THAT INTERNSHIP aha. Thank you !
My #1 top tip from someone who got through to the interview stage for most of my placement applications. Read the placement description for skills they are looking for and read the company website for the company ethics and values. Use these to help write your cover letters and cvs, the recruitment team will look for these to ‘tick boxes’ when they read applications. Also the point about spending time on each application is 100% true. I think I spent a good 4 hours minimum writing each cover letter. Hope this helps someone out 😊
This is incredible, Jade! I remember starting out my first internship was so stressful and this would be just what I needed. Took me ages to find out all these myself, hahah. Anyone looking for their first internship, these tips are gold! xx
I'm two and a half weeks into my internship and today I pushed myself to initiate a meeting with my supervisor even though he was really busy and I was feeling insecure. It was a super helpful meeting and now I'm on track to do a project I suggested and that I'm really excited about! This was a good video for today 😊
This video did make the whole "getting the internship" process a little less intimidating, thank you :) I never thought of "Informational Interviews", so that was new!
Thank you for this advice jade, I feel like careers advisors and stuff are so out of touch with things, great to hear it from someone who’s been through it! xx
"Communication and feedback". Thank you Jade, I totally agree that communication is the key in the teamwork. Getting the feedback during the communication about what we've done wrong, which one is working great and so on. That is how we can improve, really.
Great video! Wish I had this before I did my undergrad placement Another great site is ratemyplacement, it's really good for internships and undergraduate placement listings. Also, as someone who had be trawl through endless placement CVs and cover letters, the people who always stood out were those who showed good soft/transferable skills. And in your cover letter, definitely showcase your knowledge of the company AND LINK THIS TO YOU! My go to when I was applying for placements would be searching up the company's values and show how my skills and experience fit into this. It shows you have interest in the company and that you would be a good fit in the company
Thank you Jade for this constant motivational speeches! I am looking for a communication internship this year and can’t wait to take all your advices for my researches
i have truly come to love the song recommendations you casually drop in each video description. i always end up finding some really niche beautiful music 🥺❤️
Watching this video inspired me to look more into organizations working on food security in Canada and I came across a really cool networking opportunity that I wouldn't have found otherwise. Thanks!
You are so inspiring to me you have no idea, you are the reason I got up from the bed one day after a long time. Now I go on self-dates, like myself more and am about to start new studies which I am super excited about! Oh well and I am older than you 😅 but you are a mom of my mental health, girl
this is so useful thank you ! I've just graduated uni and try to get a graduate job or internship has seemed impossible at the moment, I've lost count of how many things I've applied to !
I love you Jade! 💕 Honestly watching this video made me so happy. I've been feeling pretty low lately and just watching you talk so passionately about doing stuff motivates me to try harder to reach my maximum potential 💫
Thank you so much. This is helpful for anyone looking for a direction in the career that they desire, especially me, a graduate looking for a job but also maybe picking up something outside of my field!
I did three internships so far in my life (kindergarten, after school care and local newspaper... now I want to become a cutter/film editor lol) and looking back on them I could've done SOO much more by just putting myself out there, asking more questions and showing my colleagues my own ideas. Great video Jade, I definitely learned a lot!
Thanks for this!!! I just got my first ever paid internship in digital marketing for 3 months and I'm super excited, but also really nervous. This video has really helped me feel more prepared :)
I welcome this internship video with great pleasure since I'm going to start looking for one in journalism! I feel very motivated and hopeful after hearing all of your advice and tips. a precise and valuable guide! have a great day Jade :)
i must have manifested this video because currently i’ve been looking for a job i’ve made like 5 different cvs and have been wondering how i could make them even better🥰 thank you Jade, super helpful!
this is such an amazing video! thank you jade :) i’m in my first year of college and my goal is to one day work for spotify and i will be using all these tips in my future!
Thank you so so much for the advice, ¡Muchas gracias, Jade! This is incredibly helpful for all of us looking for opportunities to show the world what we can do. Love from Colombia!
Jade! This was insanely helpful... I'm going into my third year and have started realising how work experience is SO much more important than just having a degree. One question I do have though: networking. What *really* is it? I feel like young professionals are constantly told to "network network network" but HOW do we do that? What do you say when you first walk up to someone at a networking event?
it's similar to making friends with people when meeting them for the first time. Only that you need to be professional about it. Don't say questionable/inappropriate things. Mainly talk about the career they have, the career you want, shared experiences, hobbies/interesting life stories (don't have to just talk about professional topics, but keep it tasteful). Aim to leave a good enough impression that this person will be happy to keep in touch with you. Make sure you get their name and add them on LinkedIn after.
OMG I'm as early as 8seconds!! WOW! Hi Jade ❤️❤️❤️ The topic of this video is *really* relevant to me right now, and I can't thank you enough for it. ❤️
1.what do you want to learn(indentify the sector, company, specific skills) 2.be selective, but put effort in Research, tailor your cv/cover letter, reach out to staff 85% of jobs are gotten trough personal connections with members of a company If you dontknow anyone at the company find the people who work there on any network and send them a message. Send them a meaningful well worded message about how you would like to have a informational interview 2.inform.int. No strings attached, half our call with structured questions where you can learn about them. This is where you prove yourself as being good slide in details about what you have done in the coversational. If there is a panel and there is a speaker who you want to network with after the speaking find them and ask to set an inf.int. or even right there and then. Ask meaningful questions. 3. Get contact details and provide value Get their email. Send them what you think will be helpful to them. An article myb what you personally thought it could relate to the comp. Do this a couple of times qnd you are making an internship for yourself. 3.traditional applications Cv/resume and cover letter She put in her resume and cv in the video Be blank on your resume and professional Edit your cv for every job. Put something special in your cover letter. Make sure to craft it for what they are looking for. Include precise numbers. 4.pre-internship Basic research on team, company hierarchy, mission 5.during the internship 10tips 1.set personal goals at the start(share with your manager. Keep you accountable. 2.develop consistent working style(e.a. Collaborative asana board, slack channels, email). 3.communication with your manager(how how often what about). 4.organisation and deadlines( get on top of it and impress) 5.be proactive (your ideas are valuable) 6.evaluate manager relationship (do you prefer freedom? Micromanaging) 7. Communication and feedback(growth +learning) 8.socialise( build relationships and be memorable). 9. Dont be afraid to ask for help (learn grow do it better) 10. Consinstently ask for feedback ( get constructive pointers) 11.schedule a mid-internship review 12.document it for your future self (learning skills projects) 6. Reflect on experience (use it to guide future career)
This is fantastic advice! I would love a video on the interview process because I'm great at writing cover letters and CVs but I'm atrocious at interviews.
Hi Jade thank you for this video which always inspires me, I am currently doing my prelims a month and a half before my a levels. I was upset because I couldn't do as well as I hoped despite spending almost several whole days studying! Thank you for making me look forward to the future!
Wow, this video comes at a great timing🥺. I recently finished high school in Germany and wanted to start an internship in Berlin. I knew I had difficulties at being social and sometimes even wondered if I have some sort of disorder but I thought I didn't. I ended up being accepted at an internship in Berlin an well... Yesterday, I had my first day. And it was kind of frightening. Things just didn't work out because I felt it was too much to do and also I feared being somehow socially awkward and not fitting in. It was intense. Now today I am seriously thinking about quitting it (I know, after just one day...). Because suddenly these fears about needing therapy and becoming depressive again came back. But then I also think about how this was the only internship I was accepted to and that I maybe wouldn't know how to fill that empty space in my CV. I seriously hope that I make the right decision cause I just wanted to have a good time...
I'm not pretending to be the world's best intern (lol), but I hope me sharing my learnings from the experience I do have can help someone out. 🦋 I hope you find work experience that resonates with you and your goals!
Hi jade How are you ? can you film another vlog plsss cause I love it 🥰

This type of videos is so so needed! Thank you for making it, hope you'll make it a series!

This was EXTREMELY helpful- especially the templates!! much appreciation!!
Nice questions
I m also really curious about how to create a network. Because it's not always easy for me, as an introverted.
If your university has any career advisors or career related events, you could talk to them or join some meetings and maybe network from there :)
it's similar to making friends with people when meeting them for the first time.
@@danakirsh thanks

1.what do you want to learn(indentify the sector, company, specific skills)
2.be selective, but put effort in
Research, tailor your cv/cover letter, reach out to staff
85% of jobs are gotten trough personal connections with members of a company
If you dontknow anyone at the company find the people who work there on any network and send them a message. Send them a meaningful well worded message about how you would like to have a informational interview
2.inform.int.
3. Get contact details and provide value
Get their email. Send them what you think will be helpful to them. An article myb what you personally thought it could relate to the comp. Do this a couple of times qnd you are making an internship for yourself.

This is fantastic advice! I would love a video on the interview process because I'm great at writing cover letters and CVs but I'm atrocious at interviews.

J Asante Jade always doing her best. That's why we are here 😊
Wow, this video comes at a great timing🥺.
I feel you 100%! Try to give it some more time, and don't put too much pressure on yourself!
Nerea I’ll try my best. Thanks for the support 😊
