I currently have the iPad Air 4 but miss the larger screen I had with the iPad Pro so I’m thinking about going with the iPad Air 13”. Do you think it’s worth trading in an old device to Apple? I have an old MacBook I don’t really use anymore or should I just order through Amazon if I decide to buy? So now we have 4 different pencils and 3 different keyboard cases that are almost the same size but don't work with the entire iPad lineup. Very good for the environment if you have to buy all new accessories, even if the old ones still work perfectly once you consider upgrading (even from Pro 2022 to Pro 2024). What's particularly annoying is that it's often not a hardware issue, just a software limitation to boost sales.

I'm glad they improve the pencil. Hover should have been there day 1. And gyroscope should have been in Pencil 2. The Pencil Pro is finally complete. The only snag left is drawing on glass takes a long time for some people to get used to. Seems like it's worth learning though.
Honestly still feel like most people could live with the base iPad. Would love 13 inch air but honestly $900 to watch RUclips and shop on amazon just seems like overkill.
And you'd be absolutely right. For the vast majority of ipad users, the base is still more than enough. Software is the only thing slowing down the previous generations, they still work fine.
I feel like the iPad with more power like Pros are more used by creatives who use heavy programs, at least that's why I would choose de pro over the air. In programs like procreate you are limited on canvas size. Also can't use as many layers. Less RAM. Yada yada

Watching this on my 2018 12.9 iPad Pro and still not convinced that the new iPad Pro is worth the investment.
If you got the Air M2 13 inch then it'll fit in your existing cases, at least. The magic keyboard case isn't cheap so this is not a small thing!

As far as I can tell, the only differences between the 11" models are the following.
M2 Air uses Pencil Pro and M2 Pro doesn't
M2 Pro has Pro Motion and M2 Air doesn't
M2 Pro has FaceID and M2 Air has TouchID
Everything else appears to be exactly the same.

I’m pretty happy with my 2020 iPad Pro, but I’m really thinking that the base 13 inch Air would be enough for me.
I have 2nd generation Ipad pro with a12z chip. I think Ipad Air is perfect upgrade for me. I only might miss 120hz but I in the other hand I will get fingerprint sensor, more powerful chip, and new screen size.
I really dont need that M4 power, I only use Ipad for browsing, watching content, and gaming.

im looking at the m2 air 13 inch to replace my first gen 12.9 inch ipad pro, which has kind of just stopped working properly (i literally only use it for procreate at this point, the battery is very much dying and the thing lags constantly at any stroke of the pencil for some reason), i dont need an ipad more powerful than my laptop and the purple looks nice even though starlight would match my macbook air, though the pro being thinner and lighter is really appealing for wanting to carry around both an ipad and a laptop with me and im not sure whether the price would be worth it for my uses in that respect. definitely upgrading to the pencil pro for choosing either though, the extra features look very nice
How about the audio. Does it plays dolby atmos on Apple headphones?….for both Pro & Air? It was not told during the Apple event?
That wasn't added because it doesn't make sense... Dolby Atmos availability depends on the headphones, not the device you're using. You could theoretically play Dolby Atmos from a smart toaster if it had iOS and an Apple TV+ subscription while using AirPods Pro or AirPods 3.

I have a 12.9 inch pro (4th gen) and I have no case for it. It dropped a few times but on the last drop, instead of my screen protector cracking, the actual screen cracked and now I have this long yellow crack going from corner to corner with half of my screen being black. I use my ipad for video calling, video editing, drawing, school work, gaming, looking through social media, watching movies, pretty much everything since I don’t have a phone. I’m trying to pick between the M4 Ipad pro 13” or the M2 ipad air 13”. Which one is the better option

This other user on here has done one already. You can search for IPad air 5 vs 6 and you will see it. I got the air 5 for my nephews shortly before the 6 came out and sort of regretted it until I saw that video comparison. There are not much upgrades from the 5 to the 6.

Trading in my current iPad the new M2 iPad with Apple Pencil Pro is roughly $513.09 WITH TAX I’m upgrading.

For minor things, and assuming you’re not planning to use it as a content creation or heavy gaming device, I would think your best value for money option will likely be the standard iPad or the Air.
I bought the iPad 10th gen last year. The screen light kept dimming in and out on its own after a few minutes (out of the box). Drove me crazy, especially when I'm reading. Ipad Air 5th gen didn't have that problem so if I have to choose, I'd definitely go with the iPad Air and stay away from the regular version even if it's way cheaper.

I like that there is a 12.9" option for the Air. My 11" iPad Pro now needs a $500 repair (out of warranty of course) and I'm thinking about getting the larger display. Up until now smaller iPads worked just fine for me, but recently I have started using music reading apps and a fair amount of my piano library is digital... and much easier to read on the larger screen. Budget is something I need take into account. Buying the base iPad Air 12.9 I'd have to get a case and new pencil, plus Apple Care and we're approaching $1000. Do you think a refurbished 5th or 6th gen 12.9 would be cost effective?

I am giving my mom my air so she can facetime with my niece better.
but I got a C3 42 inch for my computer for reading music and music editing, only thing that sucks is on mac, because of their 4k shit they have its small so when I am on my pro and not my pc it's big at 1080 p or 1440. and its been a game changer for my blind ass 20/80 vision .
my step dad has the 13 and I put OP55 by chopin and its like night and day I can circle all the major 2nd trills and see them all , and not have to books and books of sheets and space being taken.

It's perfect. the 12.9 now is heavy as fuck tho, so i am hoping that with this neweer one it's a lot lighter.

Def get the 11" if it's just for school notes imo since it's about the size of printer paper anyways. I used a similar sized tablet for note taking too. 13" feels a bit overkill for that

college i would get the Air or any M1 ipad. my friend got the 9th Gen and even that one is awesome for the value. so 10th gen ipad is also a wonderful note taking and single project tasks.

I wish someone would review the iPad from an artists perspective 🙏🏼 I want the add on nano texture thing but I’m worried, will it be indestructible? Or wear out over time like a matte screen protector which I have to change out with repeated use? Idk which to order and I hope it has a good texture feel like the ones from Amazon. If I don’t feel the paper like vibe enough, it’s a no go for me.

The iPad Pro 2022 would probably be the best bang for your buck since it has a lot more features and you can now buy it refurbished for a big discount. The new iPad Air has a worse screen than the old iPad Pro. It's 120 hz Mini LED (Pro 2021/2022) vs 60hz LCD (Air 2024)

For 5-6 years buy a brand new base model iPad PRO 12.9" M2. You can even go to M1 but those are not brand new anymore.

The review thats needed is whether it’s worth moving to a M2 iPad Air 6 from a M1 or M2 iPad Pro (5th / 6th gen).
Position of the camera is not enough for me to get the Air, weight (with keyboard) is only about 60 grams difference so not a lot of saving there.
I want the larger form factor but do not need the Pro features so the Air 13 would suit me however i cannot see the point of going from an M1 5th Gen 12.9 Pro.
Just hold on to it for a while the jump in performance from the m1 to the m2 is not that much. Apart from the chipset and the camera changes there aren't much improvements

Money super no issue , iPad Pro more future proofing and better thermals for gaming. Money is issue, iPad Air + Logitech combo keyboard + nova plus pencil = super bang for your buck sexy set up for all work pros and consumers.

I currently have the iPad Air 5, 64gb. I’ve been already wishing it had WiFi 6e and a larger screen, for a while. My AppleCare expires in June, and trade in value right now is $310. So….The new iPad Aïr 6 seems like a just in time answer, for the right price with trade in.
BUT
My only concern about the 13” iPad Air 6 is the M2 chip. I don’t need it in a mere TABLET and I certainly don’t want it if it is going to generate more heat. My iPad Air 5 stays at room temp with M1.
I am also waiting for a MacBook Air laptop that either is so efficient it runs cool while encoding video without fans, or it has fans. That hasn’t been the case for the recent MacBook Airs. I’m still using a working 2012 MacBook Air, which by the way has a fan…which I suspect lends to its longevity. Apple, please put fans back in Airs…it makes sense…fan….air….
I suspect the M4 MacBook Pro (with a fan) will be expensive, since the new iPad Pro now costs about as much as a low end laptop. 🙄
What i can't stand about myself is that im really considering upgrade to the new air simple due to the landscape camera and larger onboard storage options. Both problems I've solved by just using external options lol

I think the thing is that the M4 introduction makes me want to just wait for the M4 MacBook air. Or even to get the M3 MacBook pro cheaper because the M4 is out. Or even the M2 MacBook pro.
M2 Pro is the obvious choice for people who were waiting for something unique and when the M4 Pro was released they looked at the price and said ‘Are you insane?’

i will do what i always do...........wait and buy new from people online for a huge discount (craigslist etc) who get these for various reasons (work raffles etc) and want cash instead
Exactly I have a 2018 11” Pro. On so many fronts the Air 13” would be an upgrade and would be close to the price I bought my Pro for, yet like you say no 120hz or FaceID? BAFFLING

So why not pick up an Apple refurbished iPad pro instead of the new Apple iPad Air M2?

ikr. the only reason I want to go to the pro is the 120 hz refresh rate now..
The biggest issue for me with the iPad and especially the Pro line is that iPadOS doesn't have enough desktop OS / professional features to fully take advantage of even the M1 outside of a few apps. it's so close to being a full primary computer for me if only they didn't let the OS hold it back. I know it'd eat into mac book sales a little but ultimately those who want a laptop will still go for a macbook. Giving the M series iPads a fully fledged OS would truly make the decision between iPad and macbook one purely of preference.
Got the ipad air from 2020, shes held out very nicely; but now im moving on the bigger projects and def need an upgrade.

With the increased price gap between the 13 inch Air and the Pro models along with the air being capable of any workload the Pro is, they're seriously cannnibalizing their 13 inch pro sales. I use procreate for illustration and wanted to go from my 10.9 inch air to a larger, faster M1+ pro model. Thankfully I held fire and just got myself a 256GB 13 inch air.
Personally I use low battery mode 90% of the time, it limits fps to 60.
Idk about painting but for browsing, RUclips, TikTok 60hz does not matter.
I'd rather get the M2 iPad Pro. The same specs as the new Air. But cheaper.

Agree with you.. just get the new ipad pro m2.. i think hover is best already.. got lidar, got 2 camera, got hover, 120 hz. Now so much cheaperr
Hate that they made the old pencils incompatible with the newer ipads, when the new pencil features are ridiculously unremarkable.
My 2026 wish, a new size standard should be with a fully active screen, for the iPad A5 with a 10-inch M7 MicroLED, the iPad A4 with a 14-inch M7 MicroLED, and the iPad A3 with a 20-inch M7 MicroLED. Makes sense, ......doesn't it?
