I love my city of Fort Worth. One million people live here but still has that small town feel. And no..we are NOT Dallas. Fort Worth is a big Dog on its own. Respect for my Fort Worth.
A bit of correction regarding Kennedy in Fort Worth. While in Fort Worth, he did not "load up into the motorcade and head off toward Dallas" He flew from Carswell Air Force Base to Dallas Love field (13 minute flight) and then "loaded up into the motorcade" . . .
Cowtown funky town. I lived there for 3 years. Absolutely love Fort Worth my favorite spot stock yards. Since you toured magnolia District next time check out Paris coffee House best breakfast ever. The BBQ is to die for and don’t forget the steak.
Totally awesome men's. Thank you for putting Fort Worth Texas on the map. Keep being awesome. I live here in Fort Worth Texas. Mexican food and Barbecue is my favorite food
I grew up in what is now the entertainment/museum district in Fort Worth, behind the old Montgomery wards (monkey wards.) us kids would walk from there to West Van Zandt elementary school on the NW corner of Lancaster/university drive in the museum district. It’s a parking lot now. Gee if I’d known I was going to school in the museum district I’d have studied harder. lol. David Perkins AHHS ‘55.
Fort Worth, my beautiful hometown. ❤ Thanks for featuring the arts scene, FW's best-kept secret! "Panther City" boasts several world-class art museums and a thriving community of independent artists. Not to mention the zoo, Stock Yards, restaurants, and so much more.
You could do a whole show on FtW food. I’ve watched you for years Chet and so happy to find you on RUclips! You have slimmed down over the years but I don’t know how. I, too, am a food lover. Stay healthy so we can keep enjoying you!
So glad this came up on my feed. I used to watch it every weekend on our local Phoenix PBS station. We go to Northern Arizona for the summer, and their local station does not carry it. Love your show!
I live in FtW and BBQ is my least favorite food that we have here. I’m an El Fenix devotee. Although Joe T’s has the best atmosphere. I also love Byblos if you want some Mediterranean food. Happy to see the FtW Zoo getting some love. It is amazing. Visitors should also go to the Japanese Gardens in the FtW Botanic Gardens. It’s a personal favorite.
Yep you done it again. Quality entertainment with a healthy slice of informative goodness sandwiched in. I can't help but wonder how it all came to be. The journey to day tripper greatness. The home town, family and friends. The guy from normal town heading to weird Austin amidst the rumors and warnings. Did you study broadcasting? Did you act in plays? How about your time in D.C.? Any other shows that you might have been involved with before day tripper. Right down to pitching the show or however the deal came about. All the places and people on the way would not only be a blast for us fans. It would also make a great travel episode for anyone. Chet abides. I take comfort in that. Knowing he's out there day trippin for all of us couch taters. From the gulf of Mexico to the panhandle and beyond...... Ah look at me I'm ramblin' again. I sure enjoyed my self. Catch you later on down the trail.
If you like blue and purple haired tree huggers. Smug Vegan patrons make me wanna eat ribs while looking through the window. It's COWTOWN NOT BROCCOLIBURG!!
4 people did drown in that water garden back in 2004. Nothing before that for the 30 years it was open though. They added something in the pool in the middle to keep people from being sucked down by the pump.
There's major history to those water gardens that were passed over which was a major tragedy related to your comment about no hand rails. The Kennedy memorial sits in the center of the infamous Hell's Half Acre which is where the Wild Bunch took their most famous photo. I wonder why out of all the wonderful BBQ places in Fort Worth you choose Panther's. You like Tex-Mex but no mention of Joe T Garcia's. There's no mention of Texas Christian University, Botanical Will Rogers coliseum and the annual Fort Worth stock show, Billy Bob's Texas the world's largest bar or the stockyard cattle drive in the Northside.
Panther City BBQ is better than Heim and unique to Fort Worth now that Heim is by Love Field. Spiral Diner burger is just bread for your bread! JK. There are also waaay better Tex-Mex spots than Joe T's (that's for tourists and margaritas) including several right down the street like La Playa Maya or El Asadero. A little something for everyone.
Many people don't realize that Fort Worth has moved from 13th to 12th most populous city in the United States. It is the 5th most populous city in the state of Texas. It is large in size -estimated to be 359 square miles. As of May 16, 2024, the population of Fort Worth, Texas was 978,468
More like 400 miles! And just hit one million people. And it will be the 11th largest city in America at the beginning on 2024 when they announce the new numbers! Fort worth growing fast !!
Spiral Diner is 100 percent vegan. They mentioned very briefly that the "cheese" was made from cashews. I'm not even vegan, and I enjoy the Spiral. Good food and funky atmosphere. (Almost like a little slice of Austin.) ;)
I'll sum it up nicely for anyone that doesn't wanna watch, as someone from Fort Worth: An amazing and very fun place to visit, but a BAD place to live unless you have a specific lifestyle and live in a certain corners of Fort Worth. Conversely, Houston is a BAD place to visit but fairly decent place to live is you pick the right sides. Pretty opposite of what people think.
I don't mind eating vegan food but there's some vegans that's not good enough for they want you to convert fully to only vegan food and that puts me off, vegan food tends to be drier so they compensate by flavoring the crap out of it, Ive had Vegan BBQ its too rich of a flavor gets overwhelming quick because its not real meat 🤷
I grew up here for 34 years, and Panther City is a long established nickname. Why do you think cops have panthers on their badges and there panther statues everywhere? Where did you think the Fort Worth Cats got their name from...?
We actually have a panther in our neighborhood along with street named Cat Mountain. Every now and then someone will post picture of it in their backyard or going over the fence.
You had me at Fort! Fort Worth born, raised and living here for 5.5 decades. Fut Wuth, I luv you
Same but only 5.1 decades. 😂
Same here 5.2 decades my self

Right! Back in the day it was 30 minutes but nowadays with all the people coming in, you’d be lucky to get there in less than an hour

I’m from Fort Worth, but I don’t live in the burbs , I live right here by magnolia where he recorded this video.

I have to ask...does everyone get to eat or just salivate from afar?
How long did it take to cut around all the homeless people in the water garden?
I was thinking the same thing!
should have had some calf fries!!!!

Ask Steve Irwin about stingrays…

Cheese is a dairy product from an animal. So the Vegan restaurant isn't true vegan. Am I right?
Spiral Diner is 100 percent vegan. They mentioned very briefly that the "cheese" was made from cashews. I'm not even vegan, and I enjoy the Spiral. Good food and funky atmosphere. (Almost like a little slice of Austin.) ;)

Chet, like the show...but I gotta say, going to Fort Worth and not doing the "John Wayne Experience" is almost un-American.

Fort Worth has a couple of the best steakhouses in Texas and you chose to eat vegan food? What is wrong with you Chet? I am disappointed.
Spiral is pretty good tho
Wait a tick. There are vegan restaurants in Texas? Learn something new every day but I will stick to steak with my potatoes 🥔
