This is a marvelous tune in it's own right, and Jody applies a generous helping of her own magic...along with that glass shattering vocal power!!!....And a great video...Jody as usual is stunning!
For some reason, Jody ended with " i can't give in to this Magic town,,," as opposed to the Vogues more conventional conclusion. Don't know why the change was made but I love it. JODY ROCKS.
The original 1965 version of "Magic Town" (a subsequent hit for the Vogues), penned by Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil ("On Broadway" by the Drifters; "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" and "Soul and Inspiration" by the Righteous Brothers; "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" by the Animals; "Kicks" and "Hungry" by Paul Revere & the Raiders, and so many others from that era). Jody Miller is sensational, making it hard to explain (other than the marketplace was ridiculously competitive) why she didn't crack the national Top 100 with this.
So sad to learn of Jody Miller's passing yesterday (October 6, 2022). She was a stellar pop and pop-country recording artist in the 1960s and '70s.

What a great song and timeless. It reminds me of my youth growing up in Montebello and East L.A when there was still class in music.

Good vid
She’s so cute
Good pop song, Eden Kane had it out on 45rpm in the UK, sadly it didn't chart
I think Teri Garr is one of the go go dancers on the risers behind her.
That's the great hal blaine on the kit
