Crosby4hyg compare 2007 to 2008 courts and then you’d realise how diabolically slow the courts were from 2008 to 2016. Ironically the only AO fed won in that time was 2010, the slowest court of all time. They sped up the courts in 2017 & 2018.

Safin's Backhand was his most consistant shot, and he was always consistant with it. It was his forehand and movement (post 2005 knee injury and surgery), which really hindered him for the rest of his career. He did hit flat a lot of the time, but he could also create angles at will, could go down the line with ease and could hit through the court crosscourt. He really could do anything with the backhand. Nalbandian is definitely more geared to angles. I would also add Agassi and Kafelnikov.

I disagree. Take a look at the highlights from the Madrid 2011 finals against Nadal. Those were some of the absolutely sickest angles I have ever seen anyone hit with a backhand. Safin did however have a "flatter" backhand which made for a faster strike when hit with consistency. And Nalbandian is just a class act and a natural talent. His backhand has somewhat of a delayed "launch" but when he hits it cross court it's almost impossible to return. But technically, they're all different strokes.

haha no need to apologise man i think you are right to an extent as tipsy played the match of his life but roger was suffering from mono here and it clearly affected him throughout the tourney and for much of the year. Credit to tipsy for making it a great, tense match but from start to finish feds was no where near his best but as you said showed flashes of excellence.
