Good video, with one slight inaccuracy: the glittery scrying mirror CAN still result in dark entities coming through and taking up residence in your house. The only difference is that those dark entities will be fabulous.
My computer monitor makes a good scrying mirror. I once saw visions of hell with imps and demons. Scared me to death then I realised I was playing Doom.
"He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee."...... Nietzsche
put an LCD panel in there behind some dark tinted glass and a small single board computer like a raspberry pi zero or smaller so when it's off it looks black, but at random times it'll display weird ghostly images of someone walking across the frame.
With some advanced math and an augmented reality library you could probably make the images appear behind the viewer by cutting out the bit where they see their reflection.
I like the idea too, the only problem is it couldn't be gift, your friends would probably be a little suspicious as to why a black mirror needs a power adapter, now you might be thinking, what about using a battery, well it'd be a one-time use in that case and it wouldn't last very long either because the Pi would need at least 2W or so to run and the LCD could take anywhere from 2W to 5W, so yeah only practical as a piece to scare visitors.
Now you put a little piezo transducer on the back with one of these audio chips and some batteries. When you have guests, put it on a wall and let demonic voices play in random intervals (with an average silence of a few minutes or so). That should be fun.
Simply take a tiny mic / PIR and speaker and add an audio sampling trigger / sample / hold circuit, play back a fixed sample from the conversation in the room at an altered pitch when the hidden PIR is tripped. ensure the trigger circuitry has a comparator over some period to prevent accidentally sampling screams or other over-volt sources. (use data level processing logic or simple discharge hysteresis maths to roll the end of the sample to zero to do ghostly fades )
in art school i made a similar black mirror, you can use them to help with drawing as they emphasise the difference between the light parts and the dark parts ( _chiaroscuro_ in fancy art terminology) . you occasionally see them in old paintings of studios and things like that.
oh and i just recalled, perhaps in error, that in japan before they had glass they'd use black lacquer mirrors just as their general looking glass type mirror, rather than polished metal like in the west.
@@AlexLaw_Qld You can still buy polished black stone mirrors for Feng Shui (and scrying of course). However, I suspect many would just be a fused ceramic such as quartz instead of an actual obsidian stone. Despite just being a black finger print magnet, they are quite attractive and often comes with a plate stand. They're easier to find than a polished metal mirror such as a polished bronze face mirror. I find it funny that psychics claim you can tell if a mirror is a portal by putting your finger to it and if there is a gap between your finger and the reflection then it's a portal when in fact that just means it's a glass plate with the silvering on the other side. Only a polished metal or polished stone mirror would not show such a gap and quite frankly, you would expect an antique mirror that used polished metal or stone to be more likely to be a "portal" than a modern silvered glass mirror.
I tried to make a scrying mirror few years ago. Once finished I tried to see ghosts and spirits with it. At first nothing happened but then I started to hear some strange noises coming from the mirror so I came closer... Scariest day in my life dude. I'm pretty sure I heard a " Blyat" and some russian hardbass music coming from the mirror before I shattered it on the floor ... blyat
I think half the enjoyment I get from watching your videos is just hearing you talk. Your accent is so soothing. I JUST WATCHED A 12 MINUTE VIDEO OF A MAN PAINTING A PIECE OF GLASS FFS!!!!
I'm a few years late, but if you thin your paint, it will self level and smooth itself out. it'll also be easier to spread it out. You don't need to thin it much, just so it's more like a thin gravy than that goopy mess.
My related videos section is now polluted with people who genuinely think they can communicate with the dead through a Poundland portal to the afterlife. Ah well.
Man I found you a few months ago randomly and you're easily one of the most entertaining people I watch on youtube. I always look forward to your videos.
Excellent stuff, sir! I love the random nature of your videos - high tech one day, and the next day a very cool piece of Victorian charlatanry. Looks beautiful, too. No Goth's home is complete without one, methinks. Cheers!
Thanks for the apparition eye-witness testimony. Now i have to walk home through a couple of dark alleys and a park and it's going to take me about ten times longer than usual cause i'll be looking over my shoulder the whole time.
Hey, Big Clive. The Kandarian demon I accidentally summoned when I made this mirror wanted me to tell you he's a big fan. If you could give a shout-out to Shibboleth The Timeless, I think that would mean a lot to him.
hi clive. thank for the great gift idea. what would happen if you run a row of LEDs along the edge of the glass on the black scrying mirror? or the glitter mirror? it would be interesting to see some time if you have nothing to do. have a good day. Dave.
The audio sounds much better - I'm listing with Sennheiser headphones. Whatever you did had good effect. As you know, Celtic people have a touch of the second sight. Happened to me in the hospital, I was there with pneumonia and they gave me steroids that made me have nightmares. I woke from one to see a dark figure like Clive described, just at the edge of my vision. Absolutely scared me shitless.
Well this confirms Clive makes the craziest range of videos, from Disko-piss urine colorizers, glitter poop pills, and now scrying mirrors? Hilarious channel, glad I'm subbed for all the laughs
Clive, i must tell you that the opening shot of this video - as seen. Is very good. That single shot is just really good- very sinister- you really pulled that off so nicely!! You are a scary man Clive- Pun- fun- Kindness. Well done

With how fast LCD are getting darker and darker blacks, it would be fun to put a screen in a frame, tell someone that viewing and focusing at it for long enough will reveal ghosts, and just suddenly show a image of a ghost or similiar supernatural creature to scare the person
But would you be prepared to clean up the resulting mess on the floor?

Nice project! You can smooth the glass edges with silicon carbide sandpaper (used in wet sanding) or a sharpening stone. But be advised that with no blood the mirror won't be as effective summoning the black lord.
Absolutely Brilliant! That will definitely either loosen the bowels or tighten a sphincter up something awful! Gotta do this for some of the non-believer type friends. Love it!!
(in the voice of Bob Ross) "Happy little black clouds on a moonless night" That second one reminds me of a couple of pictures we had, foil shapes were laid on the back of the glass, then overpainted in black, the pictures were of a man and woman.
If you put your brush in a plastic bag and put it in the refrigerator between coats, the paint won't dry and you can reuse the brush for the next coat without cleaning it. This works for rollers as well. Full disclosure: I haven't tried this trick with acrylic paint, but I know it works with latex and oil-based.
On your microphone have you tried a hairy cover I have noticed that outside broadcasters are using these on TV looks like a small caterpillar all different colours to match their clothes. Loved the mirror
Hi Clive. The baseball cap microphone has an odd "no depth" quality for me. I am sure, I will get used to it, but frankly there was nothing wrong with the sound quality of the old videos. By the way, I love your videos and your accent. Take care.
A standard hair drier will very quickly dry acrylic paint. Also, depending on your brush, if the acrylic dries solid, you can use acetone to clean it. If you have shitty plastic bristles, it will melt them though.
Wouldn't getting it all bloody only increase its power though? I mean, you can't expect to summon the denizens of the stygian pit without a blood sacrifice after all.
Clive, your explanation of "massive, bright and very complex morphing geometric patterns that would put a fast computer to shame" matches something I experienced recently. I believe it was a thing called an "ocular migraine" which usually occurs without pain or any physical sensations. Just visual bizzareness. Google Image Search for terms "ocular migraine aura" has good depictions of what I experienced. I was freaked out until someone told me that term, and I searched it, and found that it's generally considered harmless. I'm curious about yours.
You know, this one would be just incredible with one of those modern LCD touch mirrors. Except it would project an actual haze or other apparitions right on the scrying mirror. The only thing to give it off would be a bunch of wires hanging off the side, but that might just be a stylish electrician-style decoration.
Clive I actually had a near identical experience with an apparition when I was like 6 or 7 years old it was walking out of my mom's bedroom into mine because It was right across the hallway. Only way to describe it is a dark shadowy figure
Another good, quick way is to use spray paint. Worked so well for me, just make sure to be outside away from any walls/cars, etc. And spray a few coats, evenly.
Hey ! You resolved last vid's sound harshness just the way i thought as commended. Good job. I am just a civil engineer so still an engineer on the mic dynamics understanding and i have a few issues i "feel" through my Samsung S5 which by no means is a pc but from experience/comparison to my high end pc sound system i know how it sounds on both systems even if i have heard you only on the mobile. So to make things easy what i mean to say is that for whatever reason the fact that the sound is travelling away from the mic at an allmost parallel to the mic's diapragm direction and subject that those waves are mainly longitudional whith some spairical characteristics that close to the source/mouth with little or no reverberation the end result sounds still a bit odd. There is a lack of depth/warmth like if there is missing low end. Maybe much of it can be mitigated through processing/equalizer etc. I am not sure about the warmth side though. I can perfectly make its you in the voice but there is missing breadth in tone of your voice, like if many frequencies are missing. I can understand how most chose the easy way and just buy a desktop directional or cardioid or whatever mic specialised for this kind of use. I think one of the inherent design pros is the fact that this way the mic is facing more or less to the sound source/mouth catching all the desirable sound presure variations and transitions ;) Best Regards from Crete ! , George.
I have a very large version in the basement, it was quite expensive. I see all sorts of very vivid images on it, they come through quite clear. I've even heard SOUND emit from behind it! Unfortunately somebody's all the time coming on there to sell me shit so I'm quite thankful it comes with a mute function.
I don't know if it could even be done, but a single 1-5% or so reflective surface with the other side AR coated and a high absorbance material (something better than regular black paint) might look nicer. A very flat thin film over a the opening in a velvet lined cube perhaps?
Would Vantablack work properly in this application? To work the carbon nanotubes must align vertically on the surface but in this case we are viewing it from below so would the nanotubes be able to align themselves properly against the glass?
I gazed into the dark mirror in your video and repeated "Gina Davis" three times.... And I swear to you I heard Michael Keaton's voice say, "Leave a message after the tone, fool!"
Now you've gone and done it, the instruction book clearly states to by all means possible prevent the dark lord getting stuck in any sort of fan! We're all screwed because of you!
I turned a netbook into a pretty neat wall display thing with a dollar store frame and I can confirm the glass in these is horrendously cut, probably just scored and snapped automatically with some sort of machine that leaves a horrible edge. Fun little bit of history though, I'll have to make one I have some spare latex paint from a project kicking around. That sparkly one at the end was a great cut back to your humor too
Hey Clive, what do you charge per minute for mirror appearances as The Dark Lord? A collection of "mirror mirror" and "dark lord" spots would liven up any DIY smart mirror app. A spooky disembodied Clive head and a hand tapping the glass like Rincewind in the old Discworld game screen saver would be priceless. Not to mention a few camp fashionista remarks like "Best and fairest maybe Dah'ling" and "Not your colour... Nothing natural is your colour."
The new microphone stills seems a bit off to me. I don't want to say you sound muffled (and definitely not fault of your elastic you added, it sounded like this in the other video, too), but maybe distant? I think maybe it doesn't pick up the deeper end of the sounds as well as your previous microphone. Not bad though, don't get me wrong.
The old mic is better. This one is missing a lot of frequencies around 15khz. You might think that voice doesn't go that high, but the sibalence in speech does. It really sounds muffled.
I think I asked you this question a while back. How do I get to listen to background music while playin multiplyer on Xbox1? Well, I found a solution if any subscribers have this issue. I bought a Turtle Beach DSS2 headset amp, and it's got an aux jack for your phone/mp3 player. I also bought an optical splitter, not switcher, on Amazon. So now, my signal comes from the Xbox1, splits in 2, and delivers audio to my headset amp and home theater system. It does amplify the signal a bit, so you dont get loss
Clive, as your channel has grown maybe you should consider increasing production values and buying a high quality microphone. The iPad sounds better than this. This is much more raspy, but it is only noticeable using headphones. Also, it would be nice to see 1080p (Or higher) videos. Your iPad may be able to do that, just see if the RUclips capture app is set for 720p.
I made one of these yesterday. 1$ for frame, 2$ for masking tape & 4$ for the spray paint. I recommend spray paint because of its smoothness and easier to apply. Also, YES...fingerprints stand out horribly. put it up where the wee children wont touch it. I think the reason why I jumped on this so fast is that most of my family is super religious and some of them will lose their shit when they figure out what it is. heh heh heh
After watching this, my living room smells like sulfur... Clive, what have you done?? The stretchy bit of sound absorption you added to your hat makes a big difference! Sounds great! :D
I love the sinister Clive shot you used for the title. But it wasn't in the video. :( Reminds me of the Wizard of Oz. Would make a nice computer wallpaper.
Nice work I’ve been making them and I’ve been crushing up crystals and after a couple coats of black paint I sprinkle them with my crystals in frankincense and recoat over and over it helps with the materialization of the old ones
Good video, with one slight inaccuracy: the glittery scrying mirror CAN still result in dark entities coming through and taking up residence in your house. The only difference is that those dark entities will be fabulous.

you don't use glass, you use a mirror ;) then they see them selves but you can make it glow and move stuff when they are, for example, in their bed

Instructions unclear. painted _both_ sides. Now I have a scrying blackboard.
Thanks for the giggle - good one!
Still useful though. I write shopping lists on it.
Does the Dark Lord then go pick up what you need??!?!
Sadly, no :( But I wrote a list, and the letters started dripping blood, which was pretty cool :)
And I painted the wrong side! Damn it, now I need a new glass...

Black obsidian mirrors were perfectly good enough until this new fangled "metal" came alone.

I think one of the inherent design pros is the fact that this way the mic is facing more or less to the sound source/mouth catching all the desirable sound presure variations and transitions ;)
Best Regards from Crete ! ,
George.
always a pleasure when yt suggest some of the old videos :)
The microphone setup sounds very nice! Much better than the previous video!
Care to make that thumbnail available as a wallpaper on your site, Clive? It's actually great!
I have a very large version in the basement, it was quite expensive. I see all sorts of very vivid images on it, they come through quite clear. I've even heard SOUND emit from behind it! Unfortunately somebody's all the time coming on there to sell me shit so I'm quite thankful it comes with a mute function.
The title of this video made me laugh before I'd even watched it :-) You never know what to expect on this channel!
I wonder how it would look with a vantablack backing.
It wouldn't look at all.
vantablack would be an excellent car color
I don't know if it could even be done, but a single 1-5% or so reflective surface with the other side AR coated and a high absorbance material (something better than regular black paint) might look nicer. A very flat thin film over a the opening in a velvet lined cube perhaps?
Would Vantablack work properly in this application? To work the carbon nanotubes must align vertically on the surface but in this case we are viewing it from below so would the nanotubes be able to align themselves properly against the glass?
Clive the second mirror is good for looking into the afterlife, it's just the demons you summon are so much more fabulous!
I didn't pay attention to your warning about the glass
I didn't even feel it
But before I knew it blood was everywhere
Yeah, I wish they didn't supply picture frame glass with such sharp edges. But this is how you learn about handling glass.
I gazed into the dark mirror in your video and repeated "Gina Davis" three times.... And I swear to you I heard Michael Keaton's voice say, "Leave a message after the tone, fool!"
The video only delivered on half its title's promise. Where's the summoning of the dark lord?
You have to do that bit yourself.
The instructions weren’t clear enough. I got the dark lord caught in the ceiling fan.
Now you've gone and done it, the instruction book clearly states to by all means possible prevent the dark lord getting stuck in any sort of fan! We're all screwed because of you!
Clive IS the dark lord. ;-)
isn't a turned of phone screen kind of like a scrying mirror then?
shlibber or just turn your phone off... :3
shlibber you can get an app to turn your phone of? Or an app for poundworld?
shlibber I'm confused now :-P...
How did we get from scrying mirrors to poundland? :-P
shlibber :-P
That merely summons the ghost in the machine.
That sparkly one at the end was a great cut back to your humor too
You should get the Rode SmartLav+ microphone. It would be perfect for your sort of videos and you can plug it straight into your iPad.
lol, saw your brushing off of the dust as totally ineffective, and only then realised that it was on my screen, not the mirror!
One thing I'm curious about is why isn't this guy coloring the whole thing??
Hey Clive, what do you charge per minute for mirror appearances as The Dark Lord? A collection of "mirror mirror" and "dark lord" spots would liven up any DIY smart mirror app. A spooky disembodied Clive head and a hand tapping the glass like Rincewind in the old Discworld game screen saver would be priceless.
Not to mention a few camp fashionista remarks like "Best and fairest maybe Dah'ling" and "Not your colour... Nothing natural is your colour."
I noticed the difference in the Audio. You'v definitely fixed the main problem with it. Sounds pretty good now.
I love how happy you sound about making satanic clouds with Bob Ross 😂🤣 great video
It really sounds muffled.
temporary setup while Clive is in Scotland. Home studio will be same as it was previously
Clive, you just went on my list of people I would like to meet in my life.
Sound is as good as your normal studio sound. :D Nice move with the elastic.
Creepy mirror BTW. just need a crystal bollo... errr... ball now
...I watch your videos before bed. Thanks for talking about scary dark figures.
I made one of these yesterday. 1$ for frame, 2$ for masking tape & 4$ for the spray paint. I recommend spray paint because of its smoothness and easier to apply. Also, YES...fingerprints stand out horribly. put it up where the wee children wont touch it.
I think the reason why I jumped on this so fast is that most of my family is super religious and some of them will lose their shit when they figure out what it is. heh heh heh
Eon Guipagho yep.
I have to add...kitty paw prints and doggy nose prints show up really well, too!
watching Clive buying glittery nail varnish would really raise a few eyebrows.
After watching this, my living room smells like sulfur... Clive, what have you done??
The stretchy bit of sound absorption you added to your hat makes a big difference! Sounds great! :D
Sorry, that was me- bean burrito for lunch...
Didn't even think about the mic until you mentioned it, so that's working a treat. :-)
Good thing you made that ghost detector a while ago, you can check if the mirror works.
