    Hi Arica…I always enjoy your videos. The more yellow fabric for the turkey would certainly give it a distinctive presence once framed I think. 🍂🍁🇨🇦

    • @FibersandFlossCanada
      @FibersandFlossCanada  Месяц назад

      I totally agree! But to be honest I have started it on the other fabric! I’m going to save the straw for Jane Hopkins!

    Arica, I would love a video of your sewing table redesign, but if it becomes cumbersome to film, seeing the final product would be great as well! I love your Turkey, but I’d go with the mallow fabric so all the colors of the stitch stand out. If you really want to use straw, go for it, I’m sure it will be beautiful either way!

    I love all your projects Arica- I've loved that turkey for a long time, I really like the straw material, you could always darken the color of the leaves that don't pop enough to a darker orange or even maybe a rust? Can't wait to see your progress!

  • @hannamansfield2894
    @hannamansfield2894 Месяц назад

    Wow....lots of things...lol...love it. Re turkey and the fabric, I love the straw. One of my favourite linens and you could always make the leaves more Canadian fall colours. Love that idea. I would love to see a video of your sewing table makeover if you have the time. Thanks for all Arica.

    I've only used the three ply Valdani on 40 count for Brenda Gervais patterns. I had no problem separating it, and stitching with one strand. I did unravel the balls and put it on thread drops (sacrilege!!)

      @FibersandFlossCanada  Месяц назад +1

    Love your progress on your wips. I have used Valdani on 28 ct and it is pretty thick. I think you will have a hard time pulling 3 strands through 32 ct. But you can always try it first. Happy stitching!

      @FibersandFlossCanada  Месяц назад

    Lovely projects! Dutch Beauty if my favorite ❤ Also you've got some beautiful fabrics there and I do understand why you would want to use the WDW fabric so much, I mean it's gorgeous, but I would use the one that is called for, for the Turkey Day! Looking forward to your next video, oh and I'd love a a video tutorial about the beautiful sewing case you made 😍🦃🧵🪡

    Love all your stitching Erica it is beautiful. I would love to see a video on finishing your box the little one you showed looks lovely. I have just started to sew and I'm wondering if I could make something similar, although I don't think it would look as polished as yours!!
    I vote Straw fabric for your turkey with a change of thread. 😉

      @FibersandFlossCanada  Месяц назад

      Thanks for tuning in. I encourage you to make a box! It’s only cutting and pasting. I ended up hand sewing a small rectangle of wool for a needle pad which was secured by tying down 3 buttons but you could skip that part and just glue down a piece of fabric or felt :)

    I've never stitched with Valdani, but I'd suggest getting a scrap of 32 count, from the same dyer, and trying it to see.
    From the look of the floss, I'd say that separating the strands, into two strands, is going to be a pain - but you could test that as well.

    • @FibersandFlossCanada

    Hi Arica - I would stick with the mallow for the turkey because there are so many bright colours in it that your background should recede and let the turkey be the star. Yes, a video about the table would be fabulous.

    Loved watching your update. That stitching notions box is amazing; please do film how you work on the larger sewing box. We refinish a lot of furniture, so you may want to sand and varnish the outside if its uneven to prevent splinters.

    I enjoyed watching your flosstube as always.
    I usually don't like to give my 2 cents comment, but you asked for it.For your turkey, not the straw.You are right about the leaves blending in, but more that that I don't think he would pop.
    I love your reconciliation piece and the fact that you are educating yourself.What a wonderful idea,you inspire me to learn even more about our first Nation peoples.I had friends from OKA Quebec and learned a lot especially during the Oka crisis.

    Hi Arica! I am using valdani threads on another Risewood manor, on 32 count. I didn,t like 3 ply so have been separating it to use 2. I use a separate floss card and do a few at a time to avoid single strays. Beautiful threads. Sorry I'll miss you at StitchNorth. Hope to meet you another time!

    I would like to see a video of your sewing table makeover! (I love your jewelry box makeover -- very nice!)
    I am working on the Grump Susan QAL for EPP. I fell in love with the Clover Dome Threaded Needle Case for EPP. I have two...I thread all my needles and then I can just EPP away without stopping. :) I think the best thing about EPP is you can easily do it while you watch a movie. 📺
    Thanks for the video! ❤❤❤

    • @FibersandFlossCanada
      @FibersandFlossCanada  Месяц назад

      I’ve never heard of the clover dome - I had to google it, very interesting! Does it just wind up the thread and stores it while the needle is still on? Thanks for connecting with me today and I hope you get some good stitchy time in this weekend :)

    • @feidie64
      @feidie64 Месяц назад

      @@FibersandFlossCanada Yes they wind around, and I have never had a threaded needle tangle on me. I thread all my needles at once and load them from slots 1-10 and then use them from slots 10-1 . So, when you use up the thread on a needle while sewing, all you have to do it pull a new threaded needle off the holder and keep on stitching. It works well for me.
