After tested drive both, my preference was C40 Volvo in terms of driving experience, acceleration and charging. But i am waiting for the 2024 C40 with larger battery capacity and longer range.
one important things journalist didnt disclose .
bmw ix1 came with 350v charging system . (the lowest amongs all EVs)
with those dc fast charging station u might only get around 60-70% from the total station power
eg
120kW dcfc , u might end up getting 50-60kw avg speed only .
180kw dcfc , u might end up getting 80-90kw avg speed only

Volvo numbers in the video are for the 2023 model. 2024 has increased range with almost 100km. Bigger battery and new more efficient drive train.

Good review. A detail: as with most SUV's, the height of the hatch door, when opened, is adjustable.
For those tesla fanboy, this two cars ride more comfortable and refined than a Y and 3 with better quality interior. Havnt drove the highland and juniper though.
Ya but this need paying almost 100k than the Y or 3.
Need to compare with AWD Model Y LR+EAP, which is over 260k. Not that much difference tbh.
And also more comfortable than Mercedes. Even Mercedes also loses to not only to BMW and Volvo, but also loses to Tesla and other brands in terms of performance, design, handling, tech, safety and reliability

That's much too simplistic for a comparison reason.
Observation: The C40 will look as attractive no matter the trim. However, the BMW needs a kit or trim level. otherwise, it looks blan and unappealing.
At least BMW and Volvo have better trim level and other options and more lineup options, unlike Mercedes. Even Mercedes Malaysia also soon to be phased out C300 and replaced by C350 Hybrid

Nice video guys, this really help those who really wanted to buy a new EV and by comparing this 2 cars that will help them decide which they want to go with. Personally I prefer the BMW cabin and the feature.. but c40 look is much more sporty.

I think it's all about the pricing. For instance, in Costa Rica, the C40 AWS, fully loaded is $79.900 USD, and the fully loaded iX1 is around $71.000 USD, therefore, it the BMW is more appealing.

Depends on your taste. But at least BMW iX1 is good though especially for interior, tech and design
Besides, in terms of reliability and handling, Volvo is not as good as BMW.
@esk4105 BMW reliability is not good either especially X5 X3 and X1 at times worst than Volvo SUV.
BMW is handling can be slightly better due to rear wheel drive configuration
But overall BMW loses out to Volvo on Seat comfort, safery fearures and controls , quality of Boron steel, practicality like booster seat,
Most important BMW is not IiHS top safety pick , in which the honour goes to Volvo .
Both cars looks dumb and way overpriced, Tesla is going to eat them both for lunch.
Their final doom days will be when the various China EV brand starting to come to Malaysia, these cars pale in comparison to those China EV.
Nah, reliability, design and handling for Tesla not as good as both of Volvo and BMW
