This video cracks me up. It's so vintage with an ASMR narration, but still contains good information. Heating cables! Brings me back to the early 90's.
It has been 40 years since I have had an aquarium. I found this video to be VERY helpful in setting up a "live" tank. Using a heating cable was a new one on me.
Interesting video on how to set up a tropical aquarium. My dad had one for many years. I am considering to set up a tropical aquarium with my husband but maybe without the live plants for now.
I had one spot available. Bit it is in direct sunlight, near the TV and right on top of an electrical socket. I guess I'll find another hobby. But thanks, because unlike most other vids, this answered my questions in the first minute. Good job!
this is common, this is a biological bloom known as new tank syndrome, just let it settle on its own, this can last up to 2 weeks, whatever you do dont change any water this will prolong the cloudyness, hope this helps
great video! With the lead recycling thing I highly doubt most retailers will responsibly recycle it. Might as well do it yourself, maybe smaller businesses will
I think this needed a disclaimer at the beginning warning viewers that this is a tutorial for an advanced planted tank set up. I love my planted tank but this is enough to make me run for the hills even if most of it is pretty good advice.
I have found that using at least three inches of substrate will drastically improve the health of the aquarium and thus the fish. Once I learned this I never had a fish become sick. New fish might come in sick, but not the established ones. I also would run a small uv light, five to ten watts.
AAA this is so helpful thank you!! I haven't been allowed to get a mouse because they're "too high maintenance", so I've been told to get fish instead. fiSH ARE WAY MORE COMPLICATED. AAAH.
I have a 75 gallon tank sitting around. It has a huge pump and I want to get it up and running again. Last time we had a hair algae problem, I want to grow plants but I cant afford the heating cables and fancy minerals I need to grow them. They always grew fine for me, but got too big. This time I want to run a tank with just some Neon Tetra, and a Red Tailed Shark Minow. I would also appreciate some recommendation for underwater grass. That doesn't get too big. Something for the fish to swim around in. ( I have a pump, a heating staff, sand, and gravel to work with. That pretty much it. I just wanna keep neon Tetra and a Red Tailed shark since they're my favorite and I've had a red tailed shark for 4-5 years before he died, very hardy fish.)
When my dad got me my fish he put this liquid in the tank which keeps the water fresh and he fist put the wire win which connects to the filter then afterwards he put the gravel over the wire and then fill it up with water then that liquid then your done Jobs done ✅
Martin Welters looks like late 90s the basics were covered more than adequately, best methodology is subjective. There's hundreds of different schools of thought and methodologies out there and everyone thinks they know best. Long story short... there is no objective best way
Wow, they do REALLY complicated set ups in Britain I guess. I don't use half this stuff, yet my tank has a healthy plant, and fish. Each to their own I guess!
live in a spa town and we have a natural spring. water filters through the earth and comes up to a fountain it is very soft and pure.it has been for 1000s of years. is it good for an aquarium
Hey sir , can we use artificial turf inside aquarium tank or it can give harm to fish skin? Secondly can we use RO water in place of tap water for a fishes?
Would you please tell me ..how many hours should i keep heating this cabel per day... should i shwitch it off. Or should i keep it in on continously postion hole day...
Never use double sided sticky tape for backgrounds..... Its better to wet the back of the tank and lay the background down then scrape it with a card to get air bubbles out. It looks way better that way

I wish I knew how to save a video. This is so excellent. Better than a book.
I had one spot available. Bit it is in direct sunlight, near the TV and right on top of an electrical socket. I guess I'll find another hobby.
But thanks, because unlike most other vids, this answered my questions in the first minute. Good job!
Think I’ve already watched this 5 times but it’s so good!
Thanks for the informative and easy to follow instructions 😀 👍👍
Very thorough, very carefully put together, well thought out as it covers all basic essentials.
these two videos are so technical... it feels like setting up an planted aquarium is quiet a tough job.
but.. i will still do it.
4 inches of substrate? My man Dustin said 2 is enough. I'm confused.
Probably because it has a heater cable under it.
I think some plants need, or might do better in deeper substrate.
Thanks
siva kumar You're welcome.
The aquarium store that I go to sold me two plants that are not to be pushed into the substrate. I had never heard of that before.
Best vid I've ever watched so far. Thanks for the infos!
Only good video on RUclips for set up lol 💯💯💯
Lol why is this under comedy! Easily the best tutorial on the tube!
this is common, this is a biological bloom known as new tank syndrome, just let it settle on its own, this can last up to 2 weeks, whatever you do dont change any water this will prolong the cloudyness, hope this helps
finally a british made tutorial - no nonsense.

AAA this is so helpful thank you!! I haven't been allowed to get a mouse because they're "too high maintenance", so I've been told to get fish instead. fiSH ARE WAY MORE COMPLICATED. AAAH.
This video helps me alot , i watch the whole thing lol
what this taught me is that i need a professional for setup
good video but im not sure if i need to install the substrate heating cables but it sounds right
Tony Scimeca it’s the old style people did before modern tank heaters. These ones are not very safe and impossible to find nowadays.
very informative. thanks

Have you tired to reset it?
You're all dumb, just replace the batteries

Fish CAN drown if the water doesn't have oxigen tho...
My sister has two fish in my aquarium and she says it's our aquarium but I do all the cleaning and the water changes and testing the water

Don't argue with her let her think its hers also , your the one who's gaining experience and knowledge , shes not
Yea but who bought it

Super informative video.
or instead of leaving the wood in water for a long time you can boil it for a shorter time period
Watching this has definetly put me off getting fish. Very clear video though!
Why
Thank you for such an informative video.
Nice !
Very informative
When my dad got me my fish he put this liquid in the tank which keeps the water fresh and he fist put the wire win which connects to the filter then afterwards he put the gravel over the wire and then fill it up with water then that liquid then your done Jobs done ✅
BEST VIDEO BY FAR, but what happened to part 2??
I like it thanks
very good
When did they make this video?..... 1970?
There are so much more and better ways to setup your aquarium now a days.
Martin Welters looks like late 90s the basics were covered more than adequately, best methodology is subjective. There's hundreds of different schools of thought and methodologies out there and everyone thinks they know best. Long story short... there is no objective best way
They made it four years ago 😆
What is the true meaning of that Number 5
Very informative video. Thank you.
Wow, they do REALLY complicated set ups in Britain I guess. I don't use half this stuff, yet my tank has a healthy plant, and fish. Each to their own I guess!
I'd use a heating mat underneath the tank.
. Nice

Yay I already have most of the things to start my own planted fish tank I am just missing the right substrate and plants
Thanks for the video. Do you have to do water change during fish less cycle?
Nice ending
Well ,most important question, how often you have to water your plants?
Lol
Thank you
Hey sir , can we use artificial turf inside aquarium tank or it can give harm to fish skin?
Secondly can we use RO water in place of tap water for a fishes?
it... just... stopped...
Sarah Battye please try turning the fish on and off again. If that does not work, do a factory reset.
Would you please tell me ..how many hours should i keep heating this cabel per day... should i shwitch it off. Or should i keep it in on continously postion hole day...
You said NOT to many plants..But your Aquarium Is Like almost full Of plants
Excellent tutorial. But it's cut off at the end. Is there a part 2?
yes
Okay I did everything in the video but fishes don't seem to appear. Anyone know how to create fish? Please I need the end of the video.
Never use double sided sticky tape for backgrounds..... Its better to wet the back of the tank and lay the background down then scrape it with a card to get air bubbles out. It looks way better that way

Your new subscriber.
#.beautifull tank...
What clear plastic paint did you use to seal the wood
nice
How do you clean the aquarium ?
Do we need to remove all from the tank ?
To B Orio: You got the spelling right. I liked "detritus". You don't get to use that word often.
