It was so, so good 💕 In the game origionally I think Mat used the Briarwood arc to transition the players from this being all fun and games dnd to "I will take your backstory and really delve into these characters you made in a way that will both destroy you but also be incredibly satisfying" as Tal was the most experienced player at the table and he knew would deliver on the emotional weight of that. It was what dug its hooks into me and it's what I love most about this silly game we play.
I mean, i personally love "i was working on something here" and "as soon as he leaves, i come up from the water and go: i thought he would never leave"
Well that was Laura! Talesin was even suprised by her on that. His original intent on “working on something here,” was that Vax weirdly approached him about his budding relationship with his sister while taking a bath. Vax and Percy classically butted heads a lot, basically from pride, the way Percy acted superior sometimes, and Vax coming from a poorer lifestyle in Byroden and hating stuck up nobles (people like Percy if Percy hadn’t been knocked down low by the Briarwoods/Ripley attack). No, the whole meaning of Talesin’s line changed and broke everyone at the table when Laura improved popping out from under the hot spring water with that line! Liam loved it and was so grossed out by it at the same time! 😊😅😊😂😊
His speech to Keyleth about how he (Percy) will live as long as Whitestone stands is great, not a single line, but the entire thing. Travis goes bonkers when he heard it to, he was so happy.
I would absolutely buy a book with special quotes from Critical Role campaigns to inspire me/give me perspective. It'd be even better if it had artwork of the characters in it.

What really makes that quote is the fact that Caduces is being 100% sincere. He's not sassing or being bitter or threatening Trent, he's being genuine. Without that detail, it's still a cool bit, but it's also pretty standard bad guy slander, albeit a very good, cold example of it
I think there was very much a theme of no one starting out bad, that the world twists people into some unfortunate shapes sometimes for Taliesin in that campaign. We see it with Lucien when that burden is lifted and he becomes Molly and again with Kingsley. (all the wildmother could do was wipe his memory again, because Molly was Lucien/is Kingsley.) With Caduceus we see someone who hasn't really had to deal with that, seeing it happen to those around him and having it happen to himself and holding on to the belief that it doesn't mean you're beyond saving.
That’s actually a great fan game someone should do: take memorable quotes from across the campaigns and ask people which player/character said it. A point each if they get both right.
That one line to Trent really gave me goosebumps. Caduceus was a vibe all through the whole campaign. I HOPE we get to see more of him. If not, then I'll just rewatch Campaign 2 all over again.

Watching these friends exploring a fantasy world, the shock and awe when their friends manage to pull some fantastic stuff... yeah that's part of what really drew me to the show.
Also, Grog's "Fix him!" was so strong and powerful, coming from a Goliath Barbarian who generally speaking wasn't really showing his true emotions very often.
Taliesen is my favorite person in all three campaigns. Laura and Sam have more memorable moments, but Taliesen is my favorite because his characters just resonate with me more. Percy is someone who lost everything, got vengeance in the very personal way I often fantasize about, but he still got a happy ending, which is lost to me. Molly and Ashton are two people who do not give a fuck until they decide to, but when they do, it’s all in til the end, and Ashton especially with their mistakes before they all went to Ruidus because I have fucked up on a similar level and NOT been forgiven. And Caduceus is just chill, man. I aspire to his level of chill.
I mean, he had three great characters and then he had Ashton. It might not be a bad character design, but it just doesn't fit Taliesin that much. Too much trying to act like a vulgar rebel, when the smartness and eloquence of Percival and Caduceus fit him much more.

Life needs things to live
Taliesen is my favorite person in all three campaigns. Laura and Sam have more memorable moments, but Taliesen is my favorite because his characters just resonate with me more. Percy is someone who lost everything, got vengeance in the very personal way I often fantasize about, but he still got a happy ending, which is lost to me. Molly and Ashton are two people who do not give a fuck until they decide to, but when they do, it’s all in til the end, and Ashton especially with their mistakes before they all went to Ruidus because I have fucked up on a similar level and NOT been forgiven. And Caduceus is just chill, man. I aspire to his level of chill.
I mean, he had three great characters and then he had Ashton. It might not be a bad character design, but it just doesn't fit Taliesin that much. Too much trying to act like a vulgar rebel, when the smartness and eloquence of Percival and Caduceus fit him much more.
