@@Breakfromlife Off topic but can you try and find out why, when a cue ball hits a ping pong ball, the cue ball picks up speed ? I used to practice this to try and help touch and judging speed ( I did everything to try and improve !!). Also spin on the cue ball meant nothing when it struck the ping pong ball. Thanks
Just installed the tips and taken them for a spin. Massive difference to the amount of control you get and minimal chalk needed which makes me happy as I don’t like using loads of chalk

I purchased the mixed pack of 10mm Cuesoul tips two years ago and tested them all against the Talisman soft tip. The talisman is a great tip, but it's quite hard and the margin for error is far less on some shots. It also "popped" after six months. I play English 8 ball pool, and the tip I settled on was the medium Cuesoul. It offered the perfect balance of feel, striking power, spin and control. It's also an excellent break tip so you don't need to take a second break cue. I went from an average 50/50 season to winning the merits and picking up the team league Cup. The tip made a massive difference in my play and confidence. If I hadn't have watched your video during lock down I never would have known about these tips. Well worth a try.

Cue soul is alright but for me I love the Tiger sniper since using that tip for 9 ball pool on my american cue I ended up installing one on my snooker cue as well. Best tip I've used not to soft not too hard soft/medium tip and its very grippy. The amount of spin i get is unreal.
I will be a tiger shark or kamuii man for life. My tiger shark tip lasted and performed well for a year. Kamuii have lasted me 6 months and i play hours a day 6 days a week. Again. American billairds though i know kamuii makes snooker tips, i dont think tiger shark does.
Back when I learned how to play some fifty years ago, the proprietor of the pool hall had a tool that would clamp onto the cue and rotate the sandpaper across the top perfectly perpendicular to the cue. He also had a similar clamp to hold the tip in place while the glue was drying... he'd leave it on a day or two, worked fine. Dunno what kind of glue, don't even know what kind of material the tip was made of... always thought it was cork but I really have no idea. I found that a nice thick soft tip gave me great command of the cue ball. Half the secret, I believe, was the cue -- a very flexible wood. Again, dunno what kind of wood it was either... well now, this turned out to be one of the most informative comments I've ever submitted on RUclips! Time for a beer... and no, I don't know how to make beer either. Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Great video. I’ve been watching from Phoenix Arizona for awhile now. I have a pool table for the last 6 years with little improvement until recently with help from videos like yours. I was introduced to snooker while in Nassau in 2003. It was such a shock to see coming from the sheltered USA and I was instantly mesmerized. Keep up the good work!

Just got one and super happy - it feels better balances than my old 1980s Peradon Fletcher Victorian - which is also a bit longer. It feels more like the cue is "in front" of me - I have felt that long pots are harder but it's much better when "in the balls"
I've been using Talisman mediums for about 15 years. I think in that time I've only used 3 or 4 tips. They keep their shape and just need a bit of roughing up every now and then.
If you have only used 3 or 4 tips in 15 years or so…. No offence but you don’t play very much pool and/or snooker… and given that it’s a medium tip they wear out even faster… I play 8/9 ball on a barbox about 2 hours a day semi religiously and i go through at least 2 tips a year… i use the Zaan medium

Longevity of antip depends on a few things. 1. How rough you use them, hard shots and/or lots of spin 2. How much you play. 3. How often you shape your tip. I've played with people who never ever reshape their tip, and it seems their tips are basically flat. And I've played with people who reshape their tip just about every time before they play an evening of pool/snooker. I like to keep my tip at about the circumference of a dime so I shaped my tip about every ten hours at the table. So I use to replace my Elk Master tips about every 3 months. I got a new cue that came with a Kamui SS black tip. It seems to hold its shape better, but that's hard to say with CoVid and the lack of play now.
I have a 7.8mm ferrule and a 10mm tip. I have a overhang of just over a millimeter or so. I have found that since using a larger tip that I put far less unwanted side on the cueball and my potting (especially long pots) has become much better. I missed a black for a 79 clearance a few weeks back. Now I have a 11mm elk master medium waiting to go on. Yes it looks weird bit I love the overhang....when your cueing you can see the dark outline of the tip against the white ball and it forces me to cue more in the centre. I can also get insane spin from the white with less effort. You don't have to be so accurate...e.g, if you were putting a lot of side spin on the cueball with a 7.8mm tip u have to make sure u have fully chalked your tip and that u don't miss cue, I have found that it is harder to miss cue with a larger tip. I'm looking forward to fitting the 11mm elkmaster, I also enjoy the boys looking at my cue and wondering what the hell I'm doing with such an obvious ridiculous overhang😂😂😂 IT WORKS...TRY IT!!!😅
people when changing a tip always put black electric tape around the ferrel and an inch or two down the cue. hes has damaged the ferral and cue with multible scrapes. also instead of a pearer flip the cue upside down after tip is glued on and cut around with your stanly knife and sand each to their own though. Only put this video on as i use a cuesoul tip for a pool league i am in. Love it. Is one thats made up of 6 layers of pigskin. Love my tip that much that when it falls off i just put it back on. 4 times so far. Can get so much screw back on shots but was hoping that was my ability lol. I would highly recommend them. Can get cheaper tips but they arent as good and dont last as long
Started playing Snooker and pool since 79 and its preference ...I choose Blue Diamond 🔹️.....always softer and easier to play spin......could not get on with a Elkmaster ....just to hard and couldn't feel the white.....but I changed my grip,hold the cue lighter and its be a great swap,Elks are more harder wearing aswell,hence on most rack cues? I have been told that Alex Higgins, ,Jimmy and Ronnie all use them,enough said !!!! Great insight again chief

Yeah. These are nice. I got these a long time back and now I have 3 left still and know how to apply the tips properly now, and now I play with these tips on my cheap snooker cue, which is not that bad actually ..
I use Elk master and have done for years ,my ferule size is 10 mill and I put on an 11 mill tip and shape it just a bit over sized .That extra grip your getting is just because your using an oversized tip ,not because of what make it is .As others have said your ferule is a mess and looks thin and worn ,probably needs replacing .Taum chalk has been the best thing in snooker for years I reckon .As for the Elks their cheap for a box of 25 ,you get a few duds but when you put a good one on its as good as anything .
If you haven’t tried a laminated tip there is something about them that does give you more spin and better control (due to not having to strike as far off center for the same action). I use the Talisman tips as the Japanese ones are stupidly expensive. When I was using Elk Master we would put them in a vise and let them sit for hours. This reduces the break in period. Have to be careful not to crush them too much though.
horrendous look of the fitting to be honest. Never seen that much excess glue after a finished fitting. But if it works... :D but agree about talisman. First time a person recommended it to me, i put it on, took 3 shots, and the tip split on a clean backspin. Never used again. Black Kamui's split as well, but the Original Brown Kamui 11mm Snookertip with clear pad is actually really good. Takes 1-2 hours to wear in, where the elks and cuesoul will take longer to get used to. Honestly give that one a try! I make 100breaks with it on the same day as fitting. with Elks i remember hating the tip for at least 2 weeks after fitting. ps. you should really try to get the ferrule cleaned or changed. Got some advice on how to avoid the excess glue. Simple trick if you reply :) then your ferrule will be back to good "health".
I’ve used quite a few different brands and varying hardnesses and I’ve decided for my game, I like Elkmaster, haven’t tried elkmaster pro but the EM just seems right for me. Blue Triangle chalk. Old school! There’s no right answer for this, it’s a personal thing and every tip is different (if it’s leather) so you have to just give it a bash. Make sure you’re happy with it, that’s far more important than the brand or price. If you have doubts it will come through in your game. Don’t be worried or afraid of changing your own tip. When you get the knack it’s a ten minute job. If you bugger it up then ask someone at the club. People are usually happy to help. The tip is very important, much more important than the cue. Give thought as well to the ferrule, I changed mine to a titanium and I frickin love it. Can’t really tell the difference if I’m honest, other than the aesthetics of my cue. Apparently it makes a difference with deflection but because of the lockdown I couldn’t play as consistently as I did with the old brass ferrule, just bad luck with that. My point, long winded as it is, is you should be happy and confident in your cue and tip. If you find something that works, then that’s the correct thing you’ve found. Don’t change it and expect to get a 147.
Dr. Dave and Barry Stark have some great tip videos. I think tips are very subjective. I would recommend trying different tips until you find one you like. Actually, that applies to all equipment. Everyone is different, and what works for one person might not work for another.
Never tried them look decent though,I used a blue diamond &agree I prefer the tip kind of big at first as I feel u don't use as much effort on the white, controls better,good video mate keep them coming👋
Have you tried century G1 tips? I tried a cuesoul soft 10mm tip. Didn't get on with it at all. Would hold chalk. Then I tried a second one and it was way better.
Thanks for another great video! I got my first cue last October, and your previous video about Cuesoul tips got me to order some, too. I changed the original tip to exactly the same (pool SS worked down to size) and it seems to work really well for me (still an amateur). When I was making the order, I thought what the heck, let's get some of those soft snooker size tips in the same package - haven't tried them yet and probably won't need to for a long time, for reasons mentioned in the video here.
Even though my aiming and technique were all over the place at the time, changing from a random club cue (different cue every time) to my own AND replacing the tip made an instant, huge difference to the consistency in practising. Might be too obvious, but it's a lot easier to get a grip on things from the very beginning when all those variables are cut out of the process.
Hey man, just wondering what cloth you use? I just got a new pool table with Hainsworth Match cloth and after just a few gentle games with regular, proper brushing and napping it's still covered in marks. Do you need to iron as well as nap a cloth to get rid of all the finger marks and stop it getting those fluffy patches? Thanks for any tips!

I've been using a Chinese off brand cue tips from ali express. I think it's their domestic version for club use. It's certainly a harder strength. I don't play enough snooker enough to justify changing it out. I moved from Oklahoma City, Ok, to Macon, Georgia and there's no English snooker tables near me, only American Brunswick. My old city had a STAR table...m Shaping the cue isn't that hard but gluing it can be tricky when applying pressure. But I'm just a novice. I might upgrade to these later on.
It’s the same as a golf club. When newer, lighter materials were discovered, the driver got bigger. In doing so, the size of the “sweet spot” also increased, making it easier to hit harder shots. Doesn’t look pretty but it works 😂
The blue diamond tips in the blue and white box are brilliant, far better than the old ones in the black and red box. I’ve used century’s for 3 years and have gone back to using these new blue diamonds.
For the money you can't go wrong at all ,they do a snooker size version too 10 and 11 mm ,much easier to cut down . Would also advise using emery cloth to sand them to shape and get them down , I have done 100s of laminated tips over the years and is the best way particularly with the 14mm
Your video shows the supersoft version of the cuesoul tip. I would recommend the soft or rather the medium. The supersoft grade is good for the big surface of the 13 mm pool cue, but for the snooker small diameter you can choose a harder one.
He is using a larger diameter tip for a reason. It's quite weird that he didn't really go into why he uses a larger diameter. There are some big advantages to it! There is a reason that old cues used to be made with a 11mm tip!!!😉
I have noticed one issue when I bought these tips. I bought mine off alibaba and was worried they were counterfeit because they felt almost like hard rubber and shaved off strips like it when you use the shaper but mainly that the tip really struggles to hold chalk and I have to keep roughing it up with sandpaper to hold any for few dozen before it becomes smooth again. Saying that I could definitely see that the cue ball gets a great reaction and the spin is easy now though I do still miscue when the white is against the cushion.
Was thinking of buying the Cuesol SS tips but lots of reviews say the pigskin tips don't hold the chalk too well any tips on chalk to use on these tips

I love cue soul tips. Grat price to quality ratio. I buy then for pool cues and have tried all the different hardnesses. You dont think ss throws you off with unwanted grip and spin on snooker cue?
I use this tip for pool. I cut about ¼ off the length of it as it is so long. I got a pack of them (on advice from this channel) over a year ago when they were cheap, I'm not sure I'll ever need to buy more tips.
Any advice I have a full size table in the usa its in my garage, the garage is not conditioned,great table but the table is so slow its impossible to break build on it
Get the table heated! Brush and iron it regularly. Preferably every time before you have a session. Any damp in the air will have a massive negative effect on any snooker table no matter how expensive a table you have but to mitigate a lot of this you can use heated tubes or matting which is fixed under the table. Heated matting is far superior because it is fitted directly to the underside of the slate itself. Basically the warmer you get the slate the faster the table will be. The very best conditions for optimum snooker playing is a heated room with heated matting. You can also run a dehumidifier if in a small snooker room. If you are lucky enough to be able to so have a table in this setting then your going to have a table that plays beautifully and runs like lightning. Some players don't like a fast table but I much prefer it as you don't have to slam everything. Once u start slamming balls to try and get position on the next ball you loose all accuracy. If you play on a proper set up snooker table everything should be smooth and you really shouldn't have to slam the ball at all, rather just tapping the balls in at a nice steady pace. It's far more enjoyable. Our club takes have gone extremely slow because of cloth and buggered cushions (no heat either) and it really ruins the experience and makes doing bigger brakes a LOT harder than it should be!
The tip that has changed my game was a Mike wooldridge velvet spin. Before this I liked kamui black but the velvet spin lasts at least 3 times longer before wearing out and gives me more spin. I would love to see a videa comparing different tips performance on different shots
Exactly! I am using Mike Wooldridge Supertips, it's a total game changer. You put them on and forget about tips for a long time.... tried Kamuis, Elks, Blue Diamonds.. I always could blame the tip for a bad shot. With supertips I can blame only myself ;)

Only thing that changes with tips is the feel and the speed the cueball goes forward, but the amount of spin will stay constant when you hit the same spot in cueball. Its physics and it has been tested many times. soft or hard tip the spin is the same if you shoot them same, speed changes slightly.
Thoughts on tip radius? I'm an American pool player and most use a dime radius (.356) but recently I ran across a willard lil snookie shaper with a radius of .250 what is generally used in your game?
I use the M Black Kamui laminated snooker tip less size to cut down and I reckon would be better quality than the Cue Soul love the reaction from it. Also Cuesoul do a great starter kit for snooker 3/4 cue ally case and extensions for 175$ Australian not sure what that is in GBP but good kit for a novice
buying a tip clamp can reduce the playing-in time on the older style tips. Clamping a tip for a day or two before you put it on your cue will pre-compress the tip and increase its durability

Can always use a cue tip press to break em in as oppose to having to play and break em in as that's suppose to eliminate that issue

Love my tip that much that when it falls off i just put it back on. 4 times so far. Can get so much screw back on shots but was hoping that was my ability lol. I would highly recommend them. Can get cheaper tips but they arent as good and dont last as long
Started playing Snooker and pool since 79 and its preference ...I choose Blue Diamond 🔹️.....always softer and easier to play spin......could not get on with a Elkmaster ....just to hard and couldn't feel the white.....but I changed my grip,hold the cue lighter and its be a great swap,Elks are more harder wearing aswell,hence on most rack cues? I have been told that Alex Higgins, ,Jimmy and Ronnie all use them,enough said !!!!

I use Elk master and have done for years ,my ferule size is 10 mill and I put on an 11 mill tip and shape it just a bit over sized .That extra grip your getting is just because your using an oversized tip ,not because of what make it is .As others have said your ferule is a mess and looks thin and worn ,probably needs replacing .Taum chalk has been the best thing in snooker for years I reckon .As for the Elks their cheap for a box of 25 ,you get a few duds but when you put a good one on its as good as anything .
If you haven’t tried a laminated tip there is something about them that does give you more spin and better control (due to not having to strike as far off center for the same action). I use the Talisman tips as the Japanese ones are stupidly expensive. When I was using Elk Master we would put them in a vise and let them sit for hours. This reduces the break in period. Have to be careful not to crush them too much though.
horrendous look of the fitting to be honest. Never seen that much excess glue after a finished fitting. But if it works... :D but agree about talisman. First time a person recommended it to me, i put it on, took 3 shots, and the tip split on a clean backspin. Never used again. Black Kamui's split as well, but the Original Brown Kamui 11mm Snookertip with clear pad is actually really good. Takes 1-2 hours to wear in, where the elks and cuesoul will take longer to get used to. Honestly give that one a try! I make 100breaks with it on the same day as fitting. with Elks i remember hating the tip for at least 2 weeks after fitting. ps. you should really try to get the ferrule cleaned or changed. Got some advice on how to avoid the excess glue. Simple trick if you reply :) then your ferrule will be back to good "health".

I’ve used quite a few different brands and varying hardnesses and I’ve decided for my game, I like Elkmaster, haven’t tried elkmaster pro but the EM just seems right for me. Blue Triangle chalk. Old school! There’s no right answer for this, it’s a personal thing and every tip is different (if it’s leather) so you have to just give it a bash.
Make sure you’re happy with it, that’s far more important than the brand or price. If you have doubts it will come through in your game. Don’t be worried or afraid of changing your own tip. When you get the knack it’s a ten minute job. If you bugger it up then ask someone at the club. People are usually happy to help.
The tip is very important, much more important than the cue. Give thought as well to the ferrule, I changed mine to a titanium and I frickin love it. Can’t really tell the difference if I’m honest, other than the aesthetics of my cue. Apparently it makes a difference with deflection but because of the lockdown I couldn’t play as consistently as I did with the old brass ferrule, just bad luck with that. My point, long winded as it is, is you should be happy and confident in your cue and tip. If you find something that works, then that’s the correct thing you’ve found. Don’t change it and expect to get a 147.

I think tips are very subjective. I would recommend trying different tips until you find one you like. Actually, that applies to all equipment. Everyone is different, and what works for one person might not work for another.
Never tried them look decent though,I used a blue diamond &agree I prefer the tip kind of big at first as I feel u don't use as much effort on the white, controls better,good video mate keep them coming👋
Please use some super fine wire wool to polish your ferule. It looks horrible.
Have you tried century G1 tips? I tried a cuesoul soft 10mm tip. Didn't get on with it at all. Would hold chalk. Then I tried a second one and it was way better.
Thanks for another great video! I got my first cue last October, and your previous video about Cuesoul tips got me to order some, too. I changed the original tip to exactly the same (pool SS worked down to size) and it seems to work really well for me (still an amateur). When I was making the order, I thought what the heck, let's get some of those soft snooker size tips in the same package - haven't tried them yet and probably won't need to for a long time, for reasons mentioned in the video here.
Even though my aiming and technique were all over the place at the time, changing from a random club cue (different cue every time) to my own AND replacing the tip made an instant, huge difference to the consistency in practising. Might be too obvious, but it's a lot easier to get a grip on things from the very beginning when all those variables are cut out of the process.

Hey man, just wondering what cloth you use? I just got a new pool table with Hainsworth Match cloth and after just a few gentle games with regular, proper brushing and napping it's still covered in marks. Do you need to iron as well as nap a cloth to get rid of all the finger marks and stop it getting those fluffy patches? Thanks for any tips!

I've been using a Chinese off brand cue tips from ali express. I think it's their domestic version for club use. It's certainly a harder strength. I don't play enough snooker enough to justify changing it out. I moved from Oklahoma City, Ok, to Macon, Georgia and there's no English snooker tables near me, only American Brunswick. My old city had a STAR table...m
Shaping the cue isn't that hard but gluing it can be tricky when applying pressure. But I'm just a novice. I might upgrade to these later on.

It’s the same as a golf club. When newer, lighter materials were discovered, the driver got bigger. In doing so, the size of the “sweet spot” also increased, making it easier to hit harder shots.

The blue diamond tips in the blue and white box are brilliant, far better than the old ones in the black and red box. I’ve used century’s for 3 years and have gone back to using these new blue diamonds.

For the money you can't go wrong at all ,they do a snooker size version too 10 and 11 mm ,much easier to cut down .
Would also advise using emery cloth to sand them to shape and get them down , I have done 100s of laminated tips over the years and is the best way particularly with the 14mm
Your video shows the supersoft version of the cuesoul tip. I would recommend the soft or rather the medium. The supersoft grade is good for the big surface of the 13 mm pool cue, but for the snooker small diameter you can choose a harder one.
He is using a larger diameter tip for a reason. It's quite weird that he didn't really go into why he uses a larger diameter. There are some big advantages to it! There is a reason that old cues used to be made with a 11mm tip!!!😉
I have noticed one issue when I bought these tips. I bought mine off alibaba and was worried they were counterfeit because they felt almost like hard rubber and shaved off strips like it when you use the shaper but mainly that the tip really struggles to hold chalk and I have to keep roughing it up with sandpaper to hold any for few dozen before it becomes smooth again. Saying that I could definitely see that the cue ball gets a great reaction and the spin is easy now though I do still miscue when the white is against the cushion.

I love cue soul tips. Grat price to quality ratio. I buy then for pool cues and have tried all the different hardnesses. You dont think ss throws you off with unwanted grip and spin on snooker cue?
I use this tip for pool. I cut about ¼ off the length of it as it is so long. I got a pack of them (on advice from this channel) over a year ago when they were cheap, I'm not sure I'll ever need to buy more tips.
Any advice I have a full size table in the usa its in my garage, the garage is not conditioned,great table but the table is so slow its impossible to break build on it
Get the table heated! Brush and iron it regularly. Preferably every time before you have a session. Any damp in the air will have a massive negative effect on any snooker table no matter how expensive a table you have but to mitigate a lot of this you can use heated tubes or matting which is fixed under the table. Heated matting is far superior because it is fitted directly to the underside of the slate itself. Basically the warmer you get the slate the faster the table will be.
The very best conditions for optimum snooker playing is a heated room with heated matting. You can also run a dehumidifier if in a small snooker room. If you are lucky enough to be able to so have a table in this setting then your going to have a table that plays beautifully and runs like lightning. Some players don't like a fast table but I much prefer it as you don't have to slam everything. Once u start slamming balls to try and get position on the next ball you loose all accuracy. If you play on a proper set up snooker table everything should be smooth and you really shouldn't have to slam the ball at all, rather just tapping the balls in at a nice steady pace. It's far more enjoyable. Our club takes have gone extremely slow because of cloth and buggered cushions (no heat either) and it really ruins the experience and makes doing bigger brakes a LOT harder than it should be!
The tip that has changed my game was a Mike wooldridge velvet spin. Before this I liked kamui black but the velvet spin lasts at least 3 times longer before wearing out and gives me more spin.

Exactly! I am using Mike Wooldridge Supertips, it's a total game changer. You put them on and forget about tips for a long time.... tried Kamuis, Elks, Blue Diamonds.. I always could blame the tip for a bad shot. With supertips I can blame only myself ;)

Only thing that changes with tips is the feel and the speed the cueball goes forward, but the amount of spin will stay constant when you hit the same spot in cueball. Its physics and it has been tested many times. soft or hard tip the spin is the same if you shoot them same, speed changes slightly.

I use the M Black Kamui laminated snooker tip less size to cut down and I reckon would be better quality than the Cue Soul love the reaction from it. Also Cuesoul do a great starter kit for snooker 3/4 cue ally case and extensions for 175$ Australian not sure what that is in GBP but good kit for a novice
You could do with polishing your ferrule
buying a tip clamp can reduce the playing-in time on the older style tips. Clamping a tip for a day or two before you put it on your cue will pre-compress the tip and increase its durability
try the toam V10 chalk mate, makes spoj easier
These will make as much difference to your game as using taom chalk i.e. only pros and strong club players could ever benefit from using it.
I think it will help most players because you can get a bit more spin on the cue ball with less effort. Still think there are probably better options
aside from more surface contact on masses.. isnt the just the same as leaving edges on normal tips?..

By the way, instead of using those 14mm tips, cuesoul also make exactly the same thing in 10mm. Just do an ebay search. I use them and they are superb. Regards
